That's Ul'dah.
Ummm that's Ul'Dah
Yay ambiguous sensationalist thread title :D
ahh, well played. I see now. I saw trees and got over-excited. Darn. I can dream I guess.
I would be willing to be there would be a ban on fires in the state of Grid if that did happen...I mean there is a lot of brush. Maybe we could just set fire to it and blame it on the Garleans? It's not like we couldn't get away with it.
I noticed iin the city states section of the updated site that grid and LL look very similar to the present, but in Ul'dah there was concept art instead. Not impressed with Ul'dah's new look but you take what you can get
I hate Uldah, the city of brown lag. Let it burn.

BURN GRIDANIA BUUUURN!
You should check out the new Site and the "City-Artwork" under "City-Section"... you will realize, Uldah is totally destroyed.
I don't these are screens from 2.0, I think they are from the current game. I also don't think the art depict only Ul'dah - for example one of them look like an Aetheryte Camp.
I think S-E is doing that on purpose - Ul'dah is shown being destroyed in the trailer, add to that lack of screenshots and it adds, forgive the pun, fuel to the fire of speculations ;)
For example Yoshida at E3:

With the large changes we saw to Thanalan right outside of Ul’dah we wanted to know how the cities would be impacted by the events of 2.0. Changing the layout of the cities would require a lot more development cost, however they are looking to tweak the existing maps to make them more convenient and adding things like new paths to make it easier to get around or having it so you can select a location when you exit an area. Other than that the city maps won’t change that much.
what do they mean "select an area when you leave an area" ? Wasn't that the thing that sucked about the market wards/Grand Company areas/Main storyline areas?
Do we really need more menus asking us where we need to go? Last time i checked we had legs.
If you played FFXI it's probably like when you exit your mog house it will list a selection of areas to travel to. Menus are perfectly fine. Your time isn't important enough you can't spend a second or two in a menu, and if it is you wouldn't be playing an MMORPG >_>
*clutches chest* ARgh! My Immersion! No SE, make us walk... make us stare at the same crap every day! Just like in real life!
Woah, sorrry. I didn't realise this was defend crappy world design day.
They decided to blow the crap out of uldah to get back at the playerbase for all the bs they had to deal with because we all congregated there like a swarm of cockroaches when the server infrastructure couldnt handle it.
Destruction or not Square already confirmed the cities will not be rebuilt and will look the same as they do now in 2.0.
@SS: Muwahahaha! Burn, Ul'dah! BURN!
Remind me not to logout in Ul'dah at the end of V1.
I am definitely logging out in Uldah
I'd love to log in with the city in ruins and no other people than me... and then promptly go AFK.
The original city designs will look out of place since their art design will be so dated by the new standards set by the new areas... but i understand what Yoshi is saying. Still, i hope Ul'dah is blown to bits.
I think you're expecting too much of a jump in quality, which I don't think will happen. The new engine will make stuff look better, sure, and we will have new type of environments, but in general a lot of old stuff will look pretty similar.
I like ul'dah... though i must admit the concept art for it on the 2.0 website looks great... can't wait to see the big crater and canyon ruins...
Yet Ul'dah still looks better than Gridania and Limsa ever will. :D
Get your grubby fire filled hands away from my tree filled city! *slap slap slap*
I am a little sad they decided not to rework the cities from the ground up. But i will hold out hope that some day they decide to have all re done and become really awesome locations.
Grid for life!
Enjoy being from Ul'dah! I bet in 2.0 the area around gridania will be open space while the area sorrounding ul'dah consists of craters and tunnels connecting these :D
FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....

^This is why Gridania should burn instead of Ul'Dah... TREE LOVERS IN MY 2.0!? I THINK NOT!
Do I need to start putting player's heads on pikes instead of snurbles. You complain, but the forest is where the moggles come from!
