S ranks needs invulnerability

Right, its almost impossible to casually or even actively manage to get to S ranks on other servers than the one you are on yourself. If you are not sitting on the Aetheryte waiting for reports, its already too late.

Would not giving all S-ranks a 5 minute invulnerability buff, so they cannot be pulled before that time is over, be beneficial? Or would this ruin it for the people actually spawning them?

This would remove the problem of "early pullers" and put a timer of 5 minutes every time an S-rank spawns and remove a lot of negativity that surrounds S-ranks currently.

Thoughts?

It's an open world mob. There is no such thing as "early pullers" there. What you could do is to spawn them yourself.

What happens is free game. Nobody owns it, absolutely nobody

“Negativity surrounding hunts” would dissipate if people accepted they aren’t going to make every single mark and they’ll have another shot next spawn window. Ideally people shouldn’t be waiting at an aetherite, they should be in the instance helping spawn it.

S ranks always get early pulled when a expansion released, happened with Shb, talked with people who said it happened with EW, it's happening now, nothing we can do that doesn't break any rules

I don't think they need invul timers, but if they had a tool/book that gave information on how to spawn these S+ mobs/if they are on a cooldown/time until spawn that could help out with these being "common knowledge".

That being said, Local_Custard already said it, but Hunt Trains through discord/PF's are a huge tool in order to be able to know when things are happening. They are some fun groups to get into also and a lot of hijinks and laughing.

these hunts didn't even last 1 week before getting to the point players could burn them down in less than a minute.
they need to reconsider the entire system tbh... again, why even design these things with mechanics at this point?

I have not said that people are not allowed to attack the S-ranks whenever they want. Im just saying that if they had a 5 minute invuln at spawn, people could get to them before they are dead.

Why would this not be wanted?

Honestly, the biggest villain is how ridiculously long it takes to change world when an S-rank is announced... ._.

Your suggestion would work, but I've seen a lot of people that seem to be adamantly against it

All I think of is "where is the line stop?". Like, at 5 minutes what if someone pops in the instance hoping for the S rank and asking you to hold for 30 more seconds, are we going to advocate for 5 minutes and 30 seconds after a time to include them as well? Plus, once you have people know they can wait for 5 more minutes on a S Rank that is due to spawn, you will have even more last minute people joining that train and fights will happen just like they are now for "early pullers". I think that when it would first be implemented, we wouldn't see that but after a time, this would pop up and we would be back in this boat.

Idk, its why I think having information more readily available would be the better fix because then you could preplan better for those world jumps....again in my opinion haha.

you understand that this is expansion week right? and that its not always gonna be this busy? it wasnt designed for an entire data center to come murder it.

Maybe instead of invulnerability there could be a zone wide message 5 minutes before it spawns. "The storm clouds gather..." Something simple like that. Instead of the spawn being triggered, this message would be triggered, and it would mean that the S rank spawns in 5 minutes.

No, it usually depends on World/Data Center culture. In Primal we usually actually wait 5 minutes as a courtesy to fellow players, but it only takes one troll or player that doesn't know hunting etiquette and it's all over (with a lot of people shouting asking everyone to do slow DPS). It's particularly bad right now since we get an influx of players that are not normally part of the community. And mind you, early pullers are usually not the spawners themselves.

The problem with the world changing feature is that since everyone jumps in to try to get to the mark at the same time.. You basically get this situation:

Haha, completely fair! Though I will admit my brain goes to "how can we enable people that want that extra time more" instead of "how to stall for time" kinda thought process but I think we both are wanting more people to be able to have access to it in the end. I think no matter what, having something there to help people whether it is a invul timer/information book/(from Nitelancer...love the idea)have a world message that pops up would be amazing.

As far as the congestion, I am sure that is a nightmare to deal with @.@ It's why I haven't started hunts in Dawntrail......yet >.>

Please understand that Hunts were introduced in 2.3 in a world that didn't have cross realm travel, instanced zones and data center travel. They were not even conceived of being shared among the playerbase, and the way things have shaken out took a good deal of coordination (and patience) on the playerbases' part. It had little to do with the developers.

In fact, they basically have not updated the system since it's inception; very early on they made B ranks always respawn in 5 seconds and only reward a player with the weekly bill for them, and then they introduced SS ranks at some point, but other than that they're unchanged down to the very spawn methods, locations and timers, which players have always had to figure out.

Other changes outside of hunts themselves, the freedom of data center travel, communication with linkshells and very organized discords and bots, multiple instances all (and a much, much larger available playerbase than at hunt's introduction) able to spawn the same valuable hunt mobs, aren't really part of the system as devised. They only exacerbate the issue because a player normally able to hit everything when the game is in a lull period suddenly is struggling to even get to the zone in time.

I don't say this to suggest that they can't or shouldn't change (and depending on your perspective, improve) the system, just to temper your expectations and understand that what we're perceiving as a problem is almost entirely emergent gameplay based on what they players have chosen to do, and as a result, possibly not a problem at all in the developer's mind.

yeah it's only going to get worse as players ilvl gets even higher and higher, it will require even less ppl to do the same thing. Yet here we are when players are supposedly the weakest they'll be in this expansion, merc'ing new S Ranks in less than a minute.

They are not designed for everyone to get to every hunt.
You're going to miss some. That's okay.

I said it once and I'll keep on saying: Remove the ability for other worlds to get credit for killing hunt marks then reduce the achievement requirements or reduce the respawn timers. These are supposed to be dangerous enemies, not something that just gets decimated by 600+ people in a matter of seconds. They might as well not even have mechanics because you never see them.

This I feel would be the best option. The issue being that S ranks take a lot of work to spawn, and have such a long cooldown/respawn timer, gives people FOMO.

I think people also need to realize...

No one is entitled to Hunts or Fates
If you want it, be there before it spawns or help it spawn.
Don't get upset if you miss it, while I feel for you, there will be more Hunts and Fates.

So many times I see people say, the instance was full, world quee was long, and yes, that happens and im sorry for them, but they can be spawning it on their world or be there to help spawn on others.
Just last night* Balmung was trying to spawn Snek Fate in instance 1, took hours, many hours, I was there for over 7+ hours, and many were there helping spawn it and chilling and having a good time. when it was spawned and relayed, a lot of people missed out cause the instance was full, and it sucked.
But that's a fact of over-world content.
No one is entitled to anything, and SE doesn't help matters with the long cool-down periods. and with world travel sucking, its more prevalent now.
I am by no means saying anyone is to blame, but its the fact of the world.

Some will argue etiquette should be to wait, especially with hunt trains and the 48 A ranks we have just in Dawntrail alone becasue of all the instances. But, If people want them, then they can hop on the train and tag along!! You do not need discord to be apart of them, while I joined them at first I just follow relays in CWLS or LS and do just fine. heck come find me and ill help set you up at least on crystal and Balmung.

Etiquette is decided based on who's there, no one has to follow it, and no one should be forced to. It sucks but, no one is "in charge" of the overworld stuff.

If a player cant participate at the moment, that is okay, it is okay to miss hunts and fates, it is okay, they are not going anywhere and people will still be actively doing them months after months, and if you need help, give a shout, people are willing if you ask. Or... start your own party! take initiative!

And truthfully, the blame really is on the Devs for ridiculous Achievement numbers and long long long respawn window timers. If they can shorten it, even just to 24 hours, we can be spawning them more and more, and more people will have chances at S ranks. I do not think locking credit to one own world will help, in fact i can see it leading to more trolling of sniping from other worlds cause... people can be very petty...

TLDR: I feel for everyone who misses hunts and fates, but if you want it, be there to help spawn, and if you can't make it, get the next one, there is no need to have FOMO. No one has to wait for "you", just be there for the next one!

The spawn points for the additional S rank this go-around are really terrible in some zones and if you're out actively trying to help get it to spawn by killing the minions there is a very high chance it's going to die before you can actually get to it because most of the players are just going sit on its spawn point and kill it the instant it shows up.

That is objectively terrible design and needs to be addressed somehow.

I agree making them untargetable for a few minutes after spawning would alleviate a lot of the issues people have with the system because at present, the sheer prevalence of third party programs that auto-detect;/relay the positions of S ranks to the entire data center the instant they spawn just makes all of them a mad scramble to get to them before they die which is also fundamentally against the "intended" design philosophy of them because even if you wanted to try to kill them with a small group of your own that's now basically impossible.

I'd be all for giving them HP scaling relative to how many players over the "intended" number are in their proximity so that they can actually put up a fight and be entertaining rather then just currency pinatas that melt in a matter of seconds.

The system overall has historically had an extremely lopsided effort/time to reward ratio (Particularly for those who don't actually try to spawn the S ranks), so I see nothing wrong with making people have to actually work for it.

There is 100+ S Ranks per week on each data center to attend. Currently, there is what... nearly 20+ S Ranks a week in DT alone? Per server? Even if you stay on your server you get a lot of them.
