first expansion where i will not be maining healer

I started ff14 during HW and Ive played AST and WHM all the way till EW.

I gritted my teeth when whm went away from elemental mastery and turned more towards light aspect, for shadowbringers it made sense, light etc.

I pushed forward when scholar lost its dot potential and aetherflow remained the same.

I (somehow) kept playing AST even during the countless mutations of its kit, hoping that maybe next expansion they will finally get it right.

then EW came around and white mage remained with its glare spells, scholar remained unintuitive and AST (somehow) got even worse. But I kept healing, because despite the fantasy or mechanics behind the jobs being butchered I still enjoyed keeping people alive.

But now im done. AST is exactly the same, but more boring. the new card systems is fresh on the surface, but in long fights it means you have to sacrifice all cards even if you dont want to use them right now just to give the next dps buff. the removal of the sects dumbfounded me. sure we have pure healer and barrier healer now but we can still cast big shields as AST so it essentially took away an intelligent mechanic and replaced it with a button.

WHM is absolutely colorless. No wind, no earth, 1 water spell. It absolutely ran the job fantasy to the ground and it has literally become just a walking flashlight. The wings were cool, and the lily was pretty, but in DT all we got were more bright lights and a barrier (again dont we have barrier healers for that?). Wheres the elemental magic that made me fall in love with it ?

Scholar while retaining a lot of its core mechanics has lost any and all identity. And the aetherflow being still present is hilarious to me, honestly. Seraphism, while useful and pretty, has nothing to do with scholar.

Sage is the only job that has a good balance between job identity and job mechanics, but ultimately whenever I have to heal in ff14 now i literally catch myself spacing out. With the fights becoming more dynamic theyve looked to simplify healer damage outpit and magnify healing output, but I sincerely doubt any of the devision making team have sat down and played a healer through all the dungeons and trials and hard content.

Its simply not fun anymore. Fights require more brainpower why shouldn't the kits? and where is the fun factor in pressing 1 button for damage and 2 buttons for healing? I know this has already been said countlesstimes, but I thought maybe Ill get lucky and someone from SE who matters will read this. Healing as a whole needs SPECIFIC attention, and not just an afterthought. til then I will be playing dancer, a support dps that actually balances aesthetics with engaging combinations and a kit that comes together intelligently. Or pictomancer, a support dps that balances aesthetics with an engaging a kit that comes together intelligently. With you 100% they have just ruined the lore on the healers IMO and made them brain dead.

In all seriousness, Aetherflow is a good mechanic; it just needs to be built upon a bit more to feel complete, like upgrading Energy Drain into Bane with an initial hit potency so Scholars have a DPS spender that works for both single target and aoe.

I've already said my piece numerous times on what the team can do to fix the role. It's up to them, now.

Same for me, all of my greenies are gonna stay parked at 90. It's a shame because the increased difficulty seems fun but I literally cannot take another expansion of mindlessly spamming a single filler key for a largely undesigned role.

PCT is fun

I still play Scholar because copium (I like pretending I’m a support buffer) but honestly everytime I queue for expert roulette I let out a great big sigh. Like, ‘ugh, time for Art of War roulette’ lol. It’s definitely… hard to enjoy to put it mildly.

I already dropped my main from 1.0 (Bard) at Shadowbringers, switched to Scholar, but I honestly have no idea where to go next lol.
I’m sick of having to drop my main job for something else because the developers decide to completely ruin all the good things about it. None of the others jobs feel very ‘me’ so at this point I’m literally just a ‘nothing’ main, which feels pretty sad.

Idk, I just play the game in extremely infrequent bursts (play for a month or two then never again for at least a year). Which I get is the literal ‘Optimal Yoshi-Sanctioned’ method of playing. But I feel like even just simple things like actually having enjoyable classes for everyone and not just dps-lovers would help make it feel more worthwhile to play outside of the first week of release

I just play astro in roulette yesterday, and I slept over my desk before second boss..

What a shame you're missing out on content that is intentionally being designed to be more stressful for healers in years.

You realize that happens every expansion start? Healing skill cap drops as content gets older and its to the point the healer might not even need to do more than 60 or two minute interval heals with just hitting 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 the other 90% of the fights.

Yeah that 85% broil uptime (12% biolysis) in vali ex definitely feels like I’m being stressed out

Pretending that your rotation is 1-1-1-1-1-2 when it's really:

1-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1
-3-34-3-4-5-6-7-

etc etc. is really disingenuous. The only healer who doesn't adhere to this well is whitemage. They have very few ogcd's in place of their afflatus spells.

Besides you use GCD healers a ton more than we ever did in endwalker's ex1 and ex2. Just watch a video of those if you need a refresher.

its disingenuous trying to lead people through deception because no it is 1-1-1-1-1-1-2. Very few dungeons do I have to make full use of my toolkit and i am basically left with spamming 1-1-1-1-1-2 for about 50-60% of the fight and that is if people do not know mechanics and screw up. If they do its 1-2 Off Cool Down then back 1-1-1-1-1-1-2

I won't be as dedicated to healer as I used to be, but mostly because I'm really interested in the new jobs as well.
Playing several jobs for my sanity.

Still like some addition or adjusment to healer, even though they could have done definitly more.

Look at any log above a 40 in EX 1 and you’ll see that of the average 150 casts or so you weave at most about 40 times (and for SCH half those weaves are damage), so at best 30% of your casts have a weave attached (on most logs it’s actually about 20% with a higher proportion of double weaves) and we still retain 70+% uptime on our GCD spell

So assuming that all weaves somehow fall specifically in the GCD nuke range (they don’t) we still spend near 35% of the fight casting a GCD nuke spell on the no weaves and nothing else

It has not improved at all

These are both 70 percentiles, well above the 40 percentile you requested. These aren't purse runs either, theres plenty of room for these players to improve but the data doesn't lie. Unless you are playing whitemage then well over half of an encounter is being spent weaving.

The issue is the healer is the most repetitive and boring role in the game when the aspect of being a healer has shifted over the power to the tank. I guess this is primarily the warrior as I would not mind the paladin maintaining a healing/defensive presence but I did not want it to end this way. And its a very bad shift of dynamics pushing the skill straight from the jobs itself to the encounter which is also repetition if not on a whole new scale. Every fight is the same square platform song and dance. I want them to bring part of the power and skill back to the healing role. If you want an off cooldown specific healer i do not see an issue with that. That seems like a very nice approach to healing possibly with the sage but I want my astrologian returned back to at least Endwalker with my own personal mini buffs if the cards are going to be lukewarm now and mainly just another intersection. All 4 healers are basically the same now with flow which fits fine for a dps but not as a healer. Healing has always in the past been about proactive and reactionary response to the encounter itself. When the flow is just pressing the flow of 1-2 off cooldowns the say you describe it that breaks what has made healing fun. The non flow and more variable response of the role.. I really would appreciate not always flowing. Maybe give the flow aspect to a sage but Astro/Scholar/White mage need major revamps. White mage is the weakest and with it being straight forward it should be the direct strongest in damage and healing with the other jobs bringing at the time what made them unique up until around Darkbringers.. You also do make some good points. There should be an identity for some healers having flow but there is also a case for my above statement I feel.. You seem to have defined your debating skills I will admit you are increasingly giving higher quality responses.
