We don't claim TERF apologist zepla
To be fair, I don't think Zepla's a great example, she seems to enjoy trashing the game for clicks anyway. I'd definitely be more interested in seeing one of the streamers that are usually super into the game, like JesseCox or maybe Llamatodd or someone like that.
Nah, she is just acting like Asmongold...she learned it. Some seconds later she is literally changing expressions and reading. It's just some kind of "short span over exaggerated drama"
She started doing it in Endwalker and she does it in every game now.
With all due respect she sang the praises of the game for ages in HW, SB, and ShB. She began to change her mind in EW patch content and now DT it seems. It seems a little unfair to write off someone who was formerly perfectly happy about the game to the point she recommenced it to a ton of people and got several players on board just because in her own opinion the game has not kept up with the prior excellence.
Zepla had the largest viewership out of all FFXIV streamers during launch. I know some will argue people didn't to watch during launch for story spoiler reasons, but Zepla elected to level PCT first which was a smart decision. She has also been consistently invited to various media events and is still one of the main faces of the game.
But don't take my word for it, there is a graph for this exact metric:

I think Zepla is very vindictive and has definitely fallen to the ragebait trend, but I have no doubt in my mind that she and many other content creators won't be satisfied with the expansion MSQ. But when it comes to actually hearing thoughtful and level-headed critiques and discussion over XIV, Zepla is not one of those content creators by a longshot. I'll leave that to Preach and JesseCox.
I didn't say she wasn't a big FFXIV streamer, I was saying I would prefer to hear from someone who has generally always been positive towards the game up to now and hadn't gotten onto the profitable hatetrain for FFXIV at some point. With how she spoke about Endwalker, why would it be any kind of powerful new statement to hear her speak negatively on Dawntrail? Now if Jesse or Preach or someone similar have a long conversation of how Dawntrail has de-railed their interest, I will be incredibly interested to hear their thoughts.
Zepla largely has been positive for a majority of her career, which goes back to Heavensward. It is not an argument to say her opinion is not valuable respective to the game, as she largely became more negative towards it during EW patch content, which received mixed reception.
As for DT, I am sure you have seen the large number of threads here detailing people being upset with the direction of the game. Seeing someone such as Zepla being upset at the game is just evidence to suggest the game is going into a period of regression. If, for any reason, you are unable to come to your own conclusion related to DT without the input of a specific figure, that leads me to believe you are more of a follower, a sheep, than someone with the agency to come up with their own opinions regarding a specific product you presumably enjoy. I pity you if this is the case.
Where have I ever said I need some specific figure to come to my own conclusion about the game? You are so far off the mark it's obnoxious. OP implied that some content creators pretend or exaggerate their interest in the game and that even with DT they cannot pretend to like it. In which case I simply replied that I would very much like to see commentary from someone who might normally be a bit more generous with their feelings on the content than someone who has already made a point of not pretending. How a content creator feels about the game has literally no bearing on how I feel about the content.
Funny how people here say "They're not one of us" the moment a person finally criticizes XIV even if they played it since ARR. You guys aren't beating the cultist allegations.
I'm not gonna rehash the whole thing that happened years ago but I will definitely say that was a major turning point for her. A good portion of her audience felt alienated and no longer felt comfortable with her sad to say, and she attracted a new audience in turn. Whether you agree or disagree with what happened isn't the point but it did mark a massive shift in how she presents.
Trying to give special weight to content creator statements is pointless.
If they're expressing their opinion as a player, it's no better than an opinion expressed by any other player. Not every player is looking for the same game experience.
If they're expressing their opinion as a content creator, it's been influenced by their need to appeal to what their audience expects to hear more often than not. It may not accurately reflect their personal opinion.
Didn't Zepla also say that she realized during the break she took from the game during EW that most of her problem had been burnout after playing the game for 6+ years and the expansion wasn't as bad as she originally made it sound?
Seeing someone like Zepla being upset means nothing. She's not the only one that's been playing that long. There are long time players still happy with the game. There are long time players that aren't.
I don't need content creators to tell me dawntrail is bad
Dawntrail's story isn't good. It makes sense Zepla wouldn't like it either. Here's to hoping the gameplay improves over EW.
People keep saying
"WHO CARES"
Yoshi P does, literally none of our feedback is even as 0.1% important as random Zepla's 30-sec rants. Yoshi P himself referenced the "EW is worst xpac" vid.
She is a popular content creator, I hope she doesn't like it as her voice matters if it will get devs to pay attention to the shortfalls of Dawntrail's story
Yoshi-P himself thanked Zepla for her video that was critical of Endwalker at the media tour which was specifically targeting the lack of content within Endwalker's patch content. It is clear she has more clout with the developers do than you do defending their honor on the forums.
Let's see...
Zepla is critical of DT's MSQ
ProJared is critical of DT's MSQ
Llamatodd is critical of DT's MSQ
If MrHappy shows criticism towards DT's MSQ, is he going to "not be one of you" too?
I'm not a Zelpa fan at all, but if she will be my champion voice to express my extreme displeasure with how the MSQ went, then so be it! At least they will hear her.
I dont need the confirmation of streamers that dawntrail MSQ sucks...i already found that out on my own.
And you think other content creators weren't also thanked for their own videos?
If he thinks so much of her opinions about the game, it's strange she didn't get to have one of the one-on-one interviews that Preach, Quazii and a few other content creators got to have with YoshiP.
I'm not here trying to defend anyone's honor. I'm saying that it's silly to sit there licking the feet of any content creator when there are hundreds of thousands of players that have their opinions that are just as valid as the opinion of someone who streams or posts videos online.
Honestly she's very entertaining and wish her all the best but the massive and sudden hate against Endwalker that definitely was not a coincidence was pretty cringe.
The moment when her character looks into the distance and she asks "Why am I here?" Is the actual Dawntrail experience.
It's when they are on the beach. I laughed out loud.
The criticism isn't limited to Zepla. Only thing special about Zepla is she has a background in writing. That said, overall DT is looking like a good expansion with a weak story. As the writing team is new it's understandable. Hopefully they take the negative critic as a lessons learned and move forward.
Unless we discover that there was an outside influence impacting the story, I don't see a lot of value in continuing to beat down the writing. I'm sure the team is already self aware.
Why are you moving the goal here?
So no opinion is worth anything as long as yoshida doesn’t do an interview with you?
As someone else said, he himself thanked her for her EW video.
I don‘t really like her but the amount of hate she got for voicing a negative opinion was just discussing with words like snake being thrown around.
I give her credit in that she was one of the first to criticize things. Other creators just go where the wind blows.
I haven’t watched much but so far I only really saw Woops not minding the story but he also called someone in the comments a woman hater for not liking Wuk Lamat so I know he is just an ***.
The content creators I saw seemed pretty divided tbh. Some seem to like the story and some don‘t.
Happy also seems more reluctant to give his opinion, probably looking how deep the water is first before jumping in.
Anyway. The fact alone that even they seem divided shows how polarizing the MSQ is.
So.. I could only force myself to watch a few minutes of that clip, and honestly I have no idea why she was reacting the way she did. It was as if she was looking for reasons to be offended every other moment.
Sorry if I'm missing the point, but is that usually the way her content is? I tend to play the game rather than watch others play it, so I guess I'm lacking context. Is it a FFXIV hater's club or something?
I watched her vod earlier while gathering, and her feelings on the msq matched my own in a lot of ways. The entire thing just feels so contrived and poorly written, borderline fanfic tier. She was right to point it out.
People criticizing zepla for her takes on the msq are the exact same people who agreed with her when she praised the game
ya'll only like them when they have the "good think"
I don't care about content creators opinions on shit, I formulate opinions myself.
XIV also has some of the absolute worst content creators of any game.
It's not really that surprising, honestly.
Only thing that surprised me is the whole "this is unrecognizable", especially seeing as XIV has had some pretty abysmal writing and story in the past, and I don't mean in the distance past either.
Imagine conversing or reacting seriously to someone called creampi
Literal cancel culture for daring to criticise aar gmae
"least toxic community" lmao
Yeah, I mean if you actually watch that Twitch vod timestamped... It's not great is it.
Zepla has been a mainstay in the community for a long time and has played a role - however large or small you might think - in promoting and growing the FFXIV community. Whether you agree or not, it isn't great to have the biggest FFXIV streamer bashing the game. She might be doing it for clicks, she might genuinely feel that way. Regardless, it isn't great.
It really is like a mini cancel culture. She isn't happy and is voicing it. Deal with it.
Unfortunately, post-EW was pretty trash. Zero was random and shoehorned in and the threat was not legitimate. The power of friendship just isn't a mature concept to have in a previously nuanced MMO. So far, DT is even worse. It isn't good writing, no matter how you shake it.
i wouldn't trust content creators over your own experience alot of them are massive hypocrites, like some here already pointed out they have no morals or allegiance to the brand despite getting special privileges handed to them by SE they just do whatever makes them the most money period.
now if their opinion alligns with your own then sure go ahead and agree with them but keep in mind their one opinion is not vindictive of the whole playerbase which seems to be largely content with the state of the game and don't care for difficulty, skill gaps, rotations, or any other core battle mechanisms put in place.
if we follow all the complaints and requests they are by an large centered around housing, glamour, aesthetics, story quality, graphic quality, and not having good quality of life or lifestyle options available ingame and this is the target audience of SE those players who shill out tons of money just to play continuously they could honestly care less if you want a challenge or to have your dark fantasy aesthetics cause its the casuals who put up with mediocrity and they are the ones who keep the game constantly afloat when all these so called complainers and disdainers decided to take off.
and i have tried myself to advocate for changes and enforce the ideas that we need better gameplay and better updates to existing structures of the game but ofc the so called "community" called me a "hater" and a loser for trying to help them rally to make the game improve but now look at where we are now.. ironic isn't it? so honestly i dont feel bad for this fake "i have awakened and seen the errors of SE" people just shut up you had 10 whole years to make a difference now you can reap what you sow.
We really shouldn't be taking the words of ecelebrities as gospel because our talking heads are fundamentally unreliable compared to forming our own opinions as individuals.
Zepla's been punching down on Endwalker because at the time everyone was making 'I QUIT' videos left and right and it seemed like the hot new thing to get in on, she's also been trying to imitate Asmongold since he pretty much dipped out when people wouldn't let him do his own thing.
As another example, Arthars doesn't give a damn about FFXIV's story or anything outside the realm of hardcore content, yet he's going on twitter and defending DT MSQ because everyone else is saying it's bad.
We have a grifter through and through weighing his opinion on DT MSQ and qqing about it being 'woke' despite the fact that he doesn't play.
All of these people care only about your clicks, they want a good harvest for their engagement farm.
Don't like or hate something because someone else said it was good/bad, that just makes you miserable.
This really just makes it sound like you only want to hear positive comments. Then why hear any at all? Just assume it's going to be good and go on with it? Do you need a streamer to confirm your feelings? I know you say later in another response that is not what you need, but maybe choose your wording better if so. When I want to see what others think I watch those who previously bashed and loved a game because I like seeing if minds changed on either front.
