[feedback] Hats, Hrothgars and Viera

Been really enjoying dawntrail(loved the story, loved wuk lamat, loved the new and old cast of npcs) and especially appreciated the graphics update and the new glams

It's very disappointing however that we're now 2 expansion packs past when f!Viera and m!Hrothgar were first released and hats are still a rarity to have show up on their heads. There's some gear where a token effort has been done (machinist artefact gear gives you the goggle/eyepatch, but not the hat) but there's multiple gearsets where there's still no hats. Especially so when I believe there has been confirmation that the team were working to make sure future hats would be able to be worn by viera and hrothgar. It's put a damper on what was otherwise a really good expansion pack that I've been unable to put down the past week and a bit.

Agree 100%. Same with hairstyles. Why don't we have all the hairstyles available to all the other races?
I mean, some hats are really hard to work around the big ears, but what's keeping them from either just remove the ears and hide them underneath the helmet or poke holes in the hats?

Since they have no issue with lettings things clip they could also just let the ears clip through headwear.

Because for some reason they designed viera and hroths heads slightly different than the other races.

Hats are never going to happen. People playing Viera and Hrothgar are need to just accept that. 5 years after introducing the guys, they introduce female Hrothgar with all the same limitations. They didn't even bother adding in all the hairstyles that have been added to Viera and Hrothgar males for the last two years, despite working on those additions at the same time they were working on female Hrothgar. The new 7.0 treasure map hairstyle working with female Hrothgar does point to them drip feeding us new hairstyles as they did for the guys and Viera. But it really does showcase how little effort they put into these new races. They're satisfied leaving them as limited races.

I know YoshiP has said a few times "were working on it" but I don't buy it anymore. I actually think that the things were seeing in 7.0, where certain headpieces will show the face part, but not the head covering part IS their "solution". It'd be a half-assed solution, but it's the most they're ever going to do.

Poke holes or create alterations to accommodate the massive ears like the 95 dungeon helm!!!

if a modder can create working hats for viera/hrothgar then theres no excuse for square refusing to do it

I hate to say it, but the introduction of "limited races" was pretty much the exact moment where we could pinpoint their change in design attitude. That they were willing to half-ass two entire Races was a giant beacon for just how half-assed everything has been since then. Where getting it done RIGHT took a back seat to just getting it done. And that attitude has shaped so very much these last few expansions, as they doubled down on those idiotic decisions time and time again.

What's funny is if you play scholar as a hrothgar and use the Seraphism ability to turn into a fairy for a moment, your hrothgar is clearly wearing a hooded hat/helmet that hrothgars normally are not able to wear.

So they definitely are able to do it.

It's a hood. Any hat the removes the hair requires no effort to implement. That's why hoods have worked for a while now.

It's infuriating... I've played a rabbit race in every MMO that allows me to do it. I even rolled both types of rabbit in TERA. XIV is the first time I've ever seen the stupid excuse about their ears being a problem, and it's especially idiotic with a fully functional cat race sitting RIGHT THERE. And they keep giving us these little moments of potential hope. "We've added more hair for Viera!" Yeah. Like 5. "We're adding hats to Viera!" Except they couldn't even be bothered to add the 90 stuff, you know, that WE ARE CURRENTLY WEARING AT CAP. I had to give up. Not being able to use things that I grinded for, that I even paid for... It's down right scummy, if not scammy. At least on my Roe, I can be just as big, and actually wear the gear in this game.

And don't even get me started on our poor Hrothgar friends. You guys are just completely screwed. I can't imagine the level of suffering you go through, having to pay real money just to change basic features on your characters. How is that even remotely acceptable?

Not being able to use hair from the mog station/store/whatever it's called now, is really bad. Square Enix won't even take the time to add in hair that you pay real money for but they'll take your $10 USD. Maybe when FF17 Online No Clipping Reborn, we'll get hats and Vieras.
