This game is just not what it used to be.

This game is so dumbed down feels like Habbo Hotel with GCDs now. :mad:

I reeaaaaaaallyyyy don't like how sqenix pandered to the casual playerbase for this expansion. It's like they had a boardroom meeting and asked themselves the question, "who are the biggest whales?" and one higher up said "oh! It's the fantasia addict miqotes and lalas clogging up every player hub. You know, the ones with the worst adventurer plates known to mankind". So on they went using Fisher-Price design philosophy to update all the classes for dawntrail. You wanted to play dark knight? Too bad! Living Shadow is now recommended for ages 3 and up, and Blood Weapon was intended only for mature audiences. Viewer discretion advised, so we baked that into delirium. Now use that keybind you just freed up to /bread!!! Someone needs to do a case study on how MMOs went from the type of rewarding, cutting-edge challenging content that was in Heavensward and Stormblood, to the monthly subscription to social media we have today.

stop using the "casual player base" as a scapegoat. unless you have some facts to back it up, generalizing will not help your argument.

A lot of my super casual friends quit during Endwalker's patches because things are so basic. Even the ones that remained are logging in less and less, and only seem to do so for friends.

Not a single person I know has said anything positive about Dawntrail so far, aside from Trials 1 and 3. Everyone is either bored of their job or devastated by having it dumbed down further.

I plan to unsub as soon as I finish msq for these reasons. Favorite job is basically ruined, story leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe the patch content will be good. I'll resub at some point and do it all at once. I'm not going to keep paying these devs for these results.

And if Yoshi P expects people to just grind Ultimate, he can also expect to lose 75% of the original revenue he made from me and anyone else who feels like I do.

I'd go so far as to say if you play this game for jobs, combat, questing or story at this point, it comes across as a free to play to game.

I'm in the same boat as you.
Wanted to quit back during the end of EW but decided to give DT a chance. I'm regretting it big time.
I'll more then likely unsub as well. For me, I'm just tired of the same old repeated dumbdown formula. It never changes. It's boring as all heck.
The MSQ for DT also...I've gotten to points where I just hit the skip. I feel nothing towards the story or the NPC's.

What i feel is REALLY pathetic and doesnt help the whole "game is too easy you dont need healers!" discussion... the Ilvl of EVERYTHING is WAY too low. The 93 dungeon has a 635 minimum. 635??

We enden 6.5 with at least 650-660... so why even? i get they dont wanna start the first one with 650 or even 640 but dam... and the constant gating in dungeons... here are 4 mobs, now you get 4 more, there are the last 3... this is 90-100... NO ONE is new, now one should even get hit by basic aoe.

Honestly it was a great marketing move for Squeenix to get rid of Blood Weapon and put it into Delirium instead. They gotta keep the game rated T somehow so that they can market it to as wide an audience as possible, and having 'blood' in the name of an ability isn't doing them any favors. Maybe getting rid of little things like that is going to change the game eventually into something that it didn't use to be, but personally I'm happy as long as I get to simp over elezens.

No content except Extreme/Savage/Ultimate has been interesting (skill wise) since way back when in Stormblood.

As much as I usually like the story the actual "gameplay" of the MSQ bores me to tears it's so off-putting. Why the heck can't I go into the options menu, select "hard" and now at least all solo duties actually pose a threat? It's so boring if I walk up to the enemy in EW gear and win just by pressing 2 buttons. It's ridiculous.

Please give me difficulty sliders for solo stuff that doesn't affect anyone else. Jobs are boring enough as it is.

They could design the combat for people who like to use their brain. It's all homogeneous and balanced anyway. And if it's too hard, use Trusts or have it set to very easy in the options menu. It shouldn't be the other way around where I'm fighting almost naked to feel challenged. A game is supposed to entertain in the gameplay department, too, and not just at endgame.

We need more options. Tweak numbers. That way people can choose. Everyone wins. lol

This is a multiplayer game. What will happen is that there are more rewards for the harder modes (so you even get people to play with) then a lot of people that are not suitable to these modes will try to flock to it, given both groups a bad time.

Been there, done that. Outside of organized raiding, such options do not work.

Then the designers just shouldn't listen. As far as I'm aware PvP doesn't cave in either. That being said, I'm also talking about solo duties and everything that doesn't involve a group as well. I just want something stimulating to do that isn't 1 2 ... and the mob is dead. For me it's immersion breaking on top of being boring.

They're catering to what they believe the "casual playerbase" is, being told "WE'RE REALLY NOT THAT STUPID!" by said casual playerbase, and are still pumping out some of the absolute worst class design I've seen in two decades of MMOs.

That's how dungeon ilvl always has been though? Your top tier gear from the previous expansion doesn't really get replaced till the 3rd dungeon in the new expansion. I do wish they did something to update the way we run through dungeons or give us another Mt. Gulg with the pull as much as you want, but the bosses have been pretty fun so far for me.
