Poor Rhys Darby has no idea what's going on, bless his heart.

I do find it a little...strange how aggressive the marketing for DT has been compared to previous expansions.

This expansion really is not something I could imagine myself seeing as an outsider and suddenly going "Wow, I really want to play this." HW is what called to me with the blending of medieval fantasy and good ol' FF staples like dragoons.

There's a little game on the site too finding some hidden things.

I mean, that's not what they said though. They didn't suggest they transfer people working on marketing to work on jobs, they specifically said they should allocate their funds differently.

Which if what the other person said about them only ever having 4 developers since the start is true, then I actually think it would be a valid criticism to suggest hiring one or two more developers for it. Especially considering the fact that it's not only something that just progressively becomes more work every expansion, but class design/function is arguably the weakest aspect of the game right now.

The jobs are fine and your argument is baseless as to a cause for concern. You're conflating how you'd personally prefer the jobs play to them therefore being broken. Your personal opinion has no bearing on success, as clearly shown by the jobs being tightly balanced.

Budgets for different departments, in this case probably not even under the purview of YoshiP himself if what he said about the mogstation is true, are entirely separate and managed by different people. They serve exclusive purposes and wouldn't have one of their budgets dictated by the other.

Have to agree with this. Heavensward triggered my rpgic soul with its somber melancholy advertising. Don’t get me wrong, excited for Dawntrail but the depth of fantasy element doesn’t seem there…at least not yet.

I don't know if you noticed but there are quite a lot of people who are dissatisfied with the way classes are at the moment, and have been for awhile. I mean there is like a 500+ page thread right now about healers going on strike because they think healing isn't fun. Like I actually don't even know if you are just trolling rn tbh.

Different departments have different purposes and budgets, headed by different people.

It's called department budgets. Even my tiny company has money allocated to a Marketing budget. Along with software and hardware and other departmental budgets. And nobody gets every single thing that they want. Our Chief Financial Officer controls the purse strings there.

It makes sense as the "new start" expansion. One of the biggest obstacles for attracting new gamers to any long-time MMO is the sheer amount of lore they'll have missed out on. DT being a "soft reboot" of sorts makes it the most opportune time the game will likely have in its entire remaining run to go for those people who haven't played it yet.

(It's also entirely possible that we're experiencing a sort of availability bias due to this xpac releasing in summer when people tend to have more time, as opposed to EW releasing in winter during the holiday season when people are busier, so someone could just be noticing the marketing more this time around. Personally, I've been busy recently, so I've barely noticed any marketing and didn't even realize when the Early Access was until just this week.)
