My fellings about the Healer's Strike

This is my first post in 9 years playing this game, and I'm here to share my thoughts about what's been happening in the past 5 years.

First of all, I know that the developers consider that we have many classes to play on the same character. However, I think they have exaggerated a lot in simplifying and losing the identity of the classes.

This has been happening since the SHADOWBRINGERS job trailer five years ago. I don't know how it took you so long to come to your senses.

SCH became BROIL spam like WHT, and Eos became dumb and unresponsive. Miasma III, Shadowflare, and Bane were replaced with (FOR GOD'S SAKE) ART OF WAR, a PvP action.

Tanks and Healer classes are becoming increasingly similar over the years and expansions, becoming all the same. (In the most)

Another thing is: I think, we don't need 20 healing skills if we don't have a use for them in the most of the time. Even in Extreme Trials and Savage, we spam BROIL and GLARE 80% of the time, hoping that my co-healer dies or something goes wrong to be needed. (Sorry im a bad person)

In XIV, healers spend most of their time (around 80%) doing DAMAGE, and we have just one skill for that. I think that is the main insue.

Yoshida-san said, "Want a challenge? Go play Ultimate," but Ultimate is less than 3% of the game. So for the other 97%, do we have to feel bored playing it?

We want to have FUN even in moments when we don't need to heal.

The OVERSIMPLIFICATION of the JOBS (not just healers) keeps happening. (Sorry i keep repeting that)

This is not just about HEALERS, and sure not just about dungeons at all.

And here I leave my plea for the DEV's:

STORMBLOOD was by far the best expansion when we talk about the peak of the classes in XIV, not all but most of them. OH HOW I MISS MY SCHOLAR SO MUCH! Maybe we can learn again from it's success.

Last but not least: (My personal thought)

I'd rather press five buttons on my controller or keyboard and do the same damage than just press a single button all the time.


All that aside, I want to thank the developers for their work and for this wonderful universe that gave me incredible moments and such happiness. I know that there is a time for everything and that changes cannot happen overnight.

They are going to focus on job uniqueness in 8.0 anyway. They are also thinking about things like ability points, skill trees and talents for 8.0 to replace leveling.

I don't think they are doing some kind of skill tree thing..
In my opinion this may cause an actual rework of all jobs.
What possible is creating some kind of identity shift (just slightly) in next expansion.

If I had a dollar every time a developer told me they were thinking about something and it was actually delivered....

Generally, if Yoshi-P says he is thinking about it, he normally means it and something usually changes after 2-3 years max. I can say this with confidence from the last 10 years.

I think it is rather certain that something will change in 8.0 to address the level cap. They have mentioned this previously as well. What is different is that they specifically namedropped talents and specifically described skill trees. These were examples, of course, so this may not be what they end up doing, but I think it's certain that they will do something. When you think of what they could do, can anyone think of any likely ideas beside those? Most MMORPGs seem to go down the sort of route they described there, so...

I hope everthing become better, but DEVs can't please everyone. We need changes for the future.

I wish that was true.. battle system needs an actual rework from the ground up.. i know it will take time and many things to adjust.. but please let us have uniqueness in this game

the thing about Yoshi P however....

the great leader stated that healers do not need to concentrate on DPS but on heals...

and then since that time a majority of anything to heal has somehow poofed. there is no requirement to concentrate on a 111111 rotation so he was "accurate" in that regard

so, yeah, he may be "thinking" about it, but I suspect the implementation of those thoughts will be a disaster

My thoughts are I can understand it, and statistics across the content does clearly show there is a problem if you look at the ratio of offensive spells and how frequent they are cast for healers. Looking at the data is merely enough to suggest it isn't ideal. (and what I mean is you spend the dominant amount of time pressing 1 button for the encounter, when really offensive spells need to be more diverse)

However, it won't amount to much at all.. Kudos to people for doing it, but it's not great timing. It's a new expansion and the number of new healers will just outright drown out the number of people striking. Equally so, the number of people that will follow through is smaller then.

Fundamentally the way I view it is if they have already made comments about their direction, then this isn't going to change it. If a 900 page thread on the Endwalker story being mid isn't enough to catch attention (and when Zepla saying she doesn't like the story catches more eyes on the devs), then I don't see a reason why the strike will.

Seeing as people are likely to misunderstand, I am not saying what people should do.. By all means do it indefinitely. I just simply question the significance of it.

At this point I'm at that phase where I'm going to adopt "I'll believe it when I see it"-stance for everything they've claimed.

What did they said about AST 6.3 rework in the past? Something something too big of a change to be made in mid-expac post patches, henceforth pushed back to 7.0? Well look what do we get lmao. They needed that long just to cook up 4 ST Heal/mits but card vfx for AST, totally something we need... yeah... no. That's just a damage control from community's outrage over things like Kaiten removal to my eyes.

I honestly doubt a healer strike would genuinely have any impact. At least on roulettes. Might on the higher end of raiding, because the community there is smaller and more likely to be engaged with FFXIV news. But when you go down to roulettes, we are talking some of the most casual players who have no knowledge of this strike, and people who just switch job to healer at random or to level.

I don't think the value of the strike was ever it actually being, well, a strike. The value of it was the thread reaching hundreds of pages and numerous news articles and videos and discussions. Because that is more likely to reach the eyes of the developers.
