Can We Please add ilvl Sync to Normal Raids and Alliance Raids?

Let me preface this by saying that I love FFXIV's raid content, I enjoy all of them and have played through every normal and alliance raid series.

But I notice that the first tier of each normal raid series and the first alliance raid in each series always age poorly with current gear. By this, I mean that you can skip many boss mechanics easily. I feel this is especially problematic in Aglaia, where the fights are extremely short and you miss many fun mechanics with current gear. For example, in the final boss, Nald'thal, you will almost always skip the scale mechanic, causing new players to miss out on this mechanic. I feel this is harmful to the new player experience, as they will be unable to see these mechanics unless their group has unusually low dps.

If anyone can tell me why there isn't ilvl sync for the first tiers of raids or the first alliance raid, I would like to know, please!

I feel bad whenever I run such raids with new players and they miss out on some of the experience due to the party being too well geared. I love FFXIV and want people to be able to enjoy the full experience for years to come.

On one hand, if we're going to ilvl sync everything, then there's no point in getting better gear. On the other hand, there are mechanics people have never seen. In Syrcus tower, how many people have seen daybreak on the first boss or know about the mechanic of bouncing between platforms on the 2nd boss.

I have no problem skipping scales though, that mechanic was too easy to troll.

There is still need for better gear because not every patch dungeon syncs down to the same level. Anabeseios has a higher min ilvl than Asphodelos. Aglaia has a lower ilvl than Thaleia. The first MSQ patch dungeon has a lower ilvl than the last. Gearing played an important part for me and my friend because we had to keep up with the minimum item level.

I like the idea of a proper sync very much and heard this wish for years from so many people. And it did wonders for the final 6.0 trial where you only couldn't skip the "second enrage" because it was mandatory before they added proper sync. The fights were supposed to be doable for casuals at patch day and as someone who is semi-casual to midcore and played all EW duties on their respective patch day, I feel qualified to say this is a vastly different and way more fun experience. Yes, the scales in particular invited some people to troll, but idk, most of the time I ran them, people were solving the mechanic just fine, and it was nice you could use a ranged or caster LB2 on the clones. :) It is also still simply a bit more interesting and unusual than your average "burn down enemy until ded, maybe dodge an AOE" thing. And not every patch duty is Aglaia... By now there are times where you don't even make it to LB2 in the first panda normal raid, or in Troia, that's just sad. You are missing out on so many interesting things. :/

The problem with Aglaia scales isnt the sync anyway, so its bad to say "Sync is bad because i want to skip scales"; Ive said on the week of release, its weird to put it so LATE into the fight. The AoE combos he does right before the scales should come after instead, allowing the alliance to wail on the guy for a solid minute, with Lb3 and the buff, while he charges and indicates everything, simultaneously moving the scales to a MUCH earlier part in the fight.

It does take awhile to reach scales! I find it funny how he says "This is only the beginning" during the AOE part and then dies right after

Yes exactly! Imo level sync should be used in places where you'd miss out on significant parts of fights without it. I'd love it if they added it to ARR alliance raids because I'm so bored of cheesing every fight, especially when your skill kit is so limited.

It's not just ilvl sync at play here.

Players get stronger over time through gear, stat growth, potency adjustments, food, pots, new abilities etc.

Natural power creep is why content gets skipped/cheesed.

Also leveling dungeon, just healed a level 99 dungeon with a tank that had level 90 gear. Healing undergeared DRK is not fun.

No thanks. I want to get my levels fast or done with my rolo as fast as possible.

The thing is, SE dialled down on the boss HP in Aglaia compared to the HP sponges that were SB and SHB raids. And I think it's a good think, because the latter two expansions' Alliance raids still take a bit too long. Maybe the solution would be to shuffle the mechanics in Aglaia a bit (after all, they managed to get Gaius still go through the add phase, DPS or no).

People are so used to crystal tower they think that’s the “normal” speed

40 minutes is about the length and alliance raid should be, just because we outscale CT to hells and back doesn’t mean they should lean into an expectation of 20 minute alliance raids

Whatever the case may be, SE dialed back on boss HP in Aglaia. We'll see how it goes in DT. But at any rate, there is little to no reason to keep HP inflated once the raids are old content (i.e. belonging to an older expansion), IMHO.

Who does remember the worms of Cloud of Darkness? Even back in HW I think I saw them maybe... twice? They were so hilarious though.

I think I actually saw them once during Shadowbringers or Endwalker in an exceptionally bad run. An absolute rarity though.

I rarely run Alliance raids as is. But forcing things to take longer is the worst thing to do imo unless they actually update the fights which they won't be doing anytime soon. I don't want to be bored through a whole 40 min alliance raid because content of the raid itself isnt engaging.

This is a bad idea as there is an option to go min i level. Also if they worry about normal mode mechanics and 24 man mechanics to learn and get better at the game they are doing it wrong.

Minimum item level is still a bit tougher than "item level at the time it was released". That aside, it's a fun thing to do for trials or dungeons, but unless you are a popular streamer, in a huge FC or on a discord specifically aimed for people doing minimum item level runs, getting 23 other people to look into party finder exactly at the time you are at this point in the story is highly unlikely. Especially at odd hours. So while I get the sentiment, I'm pretty sure it clashes with reality of organizing anything like this on a whim, at least in my experience.

Alliance Raids are considered doable by the average player (who likes Alliance Raids) at the time they are released, so I don't see why it should be suddenly so bad to lock the maximum item level in this area. Some people in here are acting like people would ask the devs to make the fights much harder when the demand for a proper level sync is only restoring them to their original state. They did it for Endsinger and it restored it from a snooze fest where the stuff past the tank LB3 was cut off to the spectacular experience a fight at the end of the storyline deserves to be. Yes, it takes a bit longer when you get it in roulette, but it's actually an interesting fight now. And it's still not as difficult as at release (where I played it for the first time) because at least half of the people have played the fight a bunch of times and know the mechanics, so it would still be manageable if someone is new or simply not as good at the game without locking them out.

Without a level sync for Alliance Raids and Normal Raids, you are also actively punishing for people for being late to the party. In a game that prides itself with respecting a player's own pace in playing MSQ etc., a level sync preventing fights from skipping important story or character relevant mechanics (like the scales in Aglaia) is long overdue. Currently someone who just finished Endwalker and looks into the Normal Raid has to fight a big, strong warden of a high security facility and doesn't even make it to LB2, same with other fights. It's not as bad as old Cape Westwind but it certainly has the same vibes. I managed to play all Endwalker fights right at release and it pains me to know a new sprout will never have this experience again. :( Same as with the "OMG A GIANT ME!" moment in Aglaia.

With the exception of Expert, Daily roulettes do not exist for the person queueing the roulette. They exist for the person naturally queueing whatever you get from the roulette. Many of these would love to experience things as close to the original release as possible, but might not have the resources to do so. You can't do an alliance raid at min iLVL without a full 24 people, and PFing 24 people for Crystal tower is nearly impossible, so most people only have the faceroll option available to them. If you're already at end game, drop your selfishness so that those coming behind you can have their moments.
