I would suspect there will be a lockdown on most of the NA worlds soon forcing new people here. Housing is also going live pretty much right away.

Gosh, why? We are so dead already. It's where alts come to die.
Nah, there wont be a full lockdown, they'll do what they usually do and just make it so you cant make new characters on "congested" worlds, aether, primal, & crystal should have a couple worlds open still, there will just be the exp and gil intensive for joining the brand new worlds.
The lockdown/congested world system doesn’t help much when you can just DC travel. I feel bad for new Dynamis characters that won’t be able to get a Frontline or Alliance Raid to pop due to everyone congregating on other DCs as usual.
Maybe the logic is to make more people go there for houses. Then the pool of people for duties may be slightly higher while they are in their residence.
But it also makes sense to try and capitalize on the expansion growth, because that is the best chance Dynamis really has.
good finnally we won't have to dc travel for every little thing its not dead center as some think, its actrually active but noone wants to q for anything over here because its 30+ to enter things such as pvp and ally raid because everyone knows its quicker to just dc travel over.. honestly they should prevent dc travel from dynamis for 3 weeks just to get things settled in..
They should just give us femroth on june 11th since its been over 3 years waiting for it lol
Even if these new servers get only the same number of players as the existing Dynamis servers, that still doubles the population on Dynamis data center. Also NA will never get as good a chance to get uncontested mansions. Might want to take advantage of that while you can.
Why would they do that? DC travel is there to relieve congestion by giving players on DCs like Aether somewhere else to go. Trust me, no one on Dynamis wants to join you in your 5 hour login queue.
I'm sorry, I was under the impression newbies can't even find queues for story content on dynamis right now. Am I incorrect? This is an issue easily solved by
a) cross-dc PFs, or
b) locking dc travel for the foreseeable future.
They do that because nobody is queuing on Dynamis. It's a vicious cycle.
Nobody is queuing... during the launch of an expansion? :D Have you ever seen a launch before? Servers run out of instances so even though you are matched with a party in DF you still have to wait because the server can't create the dungeon run yet. Absolutely no one will need your data center for leveling content and they will not travel there if they have a choice. No one will be raiding either since the raids will not release at launch.
I mean I enjoy pvp/and other content aspects and roleplaying but I have to agree dc traveling has created a few problems, for example if ur going to q for an endwalker dungeon/trail u might as well dc travel or ur in q for hours , not because the center is dead but cuz everyone dc travels to aether or primal for them. and the only reason i havent done savage.ultima is i dont want to have a schedule for it where i have to match peoples time zones lol
tbh i think dawntrail will fix dynamis qs big time but still I dont think it will be fixed upon launch, thats why i think we need a week or 2 lock on center travel so the qing can stabilize
I kind of wish they did the same thing they did when they added the third NA data center.. they moved a few higher pop worlds over into the new dc
I like the new server names.
Damn, tempted to move to Kraken
Interesting the timing of the release because no new FCs will be able to get a house until after DT starts, even if they make it day 1.
Rather than disabling DC travel, I feel like they should have given Dynamis players a bonus to queue locally. Extra tomes, experience, gil, maybe even something like bicolor gems to really help lure in some people. Something.
I moved to Marilith the day it released, but finally moved away a few months ago. I didn't always mind a long queue as I can generally be doing other things while I wait, but even still, it got tiresome seeing 20-30 minute (and waaaay longer) queues for things that would pop in less than 5 minutes on other DCs. Towards the end I did finally just start hopping elsewhere to get my things done. :/
It's too bad though. I liked the vibe on Marilith, and I loved how quiet it felt compared to other DCs. But yeah, my time is important, and being annoyed by having to wait around in a video game isn't my idea of relaxing. Props to those who have stuck it out. I hope the queues turn around for you all in DT.
Yay new friends for my alt. It's a bit rough trying to get story trials and optional stuff done there even if you put up a PF. I end up having to go to Aether to complete things and then that eases the roulettes a bit when I return to Mari since I have a bigger roulette pool there now. Hopefully this will help with that.
I haven't tried going over on my main to see how queues are with everything available. I can't do alliance roulette on my alt since she can't access the gear she needs for the level she's at yet but all the other roulettes minus normal raid seem pretty reasonable now.
They could merge all 4 servers that are currently there and it still wouldn't be as populated as something like levi or midgar.
No idea why they would do this.
4 more worlds for NA meanwhile SA and SEA players don't get proper servers :/ less talk about regional pricing or official localization which is pretty needed
People dont like being forced off their datacenter though. Look at the first time this happened, many people moved back to Aether. Others didnt want to leave friends and fc so they were forced to stay. Probably why this time they opted to not do it. Its not fair to force people to be a foundation for a new datacenter unwilling.
honestly the whole reason they are doing this is so that when DT launches, people can DC travel to these worlds to make ques for logging in shorter.
And if you're worried about content ques on Dynamis at DT launch, if enough people are actually doing it, it wont be an issue. OR just make sure you have your friends all go together and have a full party. That way you don't have to worry at all.
I did see on Maduin that Limsa plaza was filling up. Not saying it's bustling, and the queues still suck, but I can see the servers are slowly getting populated. It just takes forever for a new foundation of players to stick around. Lets hope a fully developed Dynamis will attract more new players, and not just alts.
Eh... it might help with initial congestion from the expansion, but it'll probably drop off and they all become ghost towns a couple of months later like the other Dynamis servers did because there's no real incentive to stay. Hell, would it even be appealing for people on congested worlds to perm-transfer over? Even for a house? They're likely to get frustrated with the lack of queues while they sit in their home for literally hours (not to mention the possible lack of furnishing options on a brand new market board) and then being forced to DC travel anyway (and therefore can't be in their house). Most will probably end up paying to go back to their original server (many such cases already on Dynamis) because having a house won't feel like a good trade-off for everything else they lose.
Not quite understanding the point of this right now. The 4 we have are already pretty dead. I'm on Seraph right now (the most popular one). Zero high-end duties, 2 Trials, and 2 raids in PF. That's it for the entire Data Center at prime time. I seriously doubt people are just going to fill up the four new servers when DT releases.
I agree people are only going to MOVE there for housing. I believe the purpose is for DC travelers to go to during DT to spread out ques. But no one is going to stay and actually live there besides alts and house hoarders. They would have been better off opening some cloud servers temporarily.
As a player that's been around a while, I will never understand the declarations of "we don't need more worlds."
I started on Mateus, when there were frequent calls to simply close/merge it with another world (Balmung, usually) because it was so dead and empty. Now, it's population rivals the high pop worlds.
I moved to Zalera when Crystal was broken off, looking for that low pop vibe again. Now, I can say from first hand experience, it's far more bustling than it was back then.
I've been here through the creation of the new worlds (and data center) for EU. At the time, everyone declared this killed DF by spreading everyone out too much, worlds are dead, we don't need this much space, etc. After only a few years, it was clear they were full to bursting and needing more expansion.
So, miss me with this whole "worlds are dead, why bother" rhetoric.
Rivals? Mateus is the highest population world now more often than not according to the Lucky Bancho census and has been since the start of Endwalker.
But as for your main point, you're correct. Worlds will start off small and gradually build up over time as more players join the game. Dynamis has a solid population now. The problem is that much of the level cap population got used to going to Aether or the other NA data centers early on so it's a habit for them now. They haven't seen the population increase like those who chose to play on Dynamis have. If they would all stay on Dynamis for a change, there would be little reason for anyone to head to Aether.
This is a gamble. The only way I see Dynamis becoming active is if Dawntrail brings people in as well as Endwalker did. It's a shame that Yoshi had to restrict people from buying XIV before Dynamis came about. I mean...we'll see I guess. We are on a new arc. Fingers crossed that it gets a decent amount of outsiders interested.
People would rather go for convenience. That's really all there is to say about it. Cross-DC allowed people to flood one particular data center because it had the reputation for being the raid/content DC and it's too late to change it now without removing cross-DC. People might flood over to Dynamis during the early days of the expansion to escape wait times but once queues calm down they'll go right back to Aether or Crystal, the already established hubs. Square shot themselves in the foot by releasing Dyna with cross-DC, all it did was allow people to come and go as they please or stay away for weeks on end (like those who only went to Dynamis for an easy mansion but still do all of their content on other DCs).
The original 4 worlds of Dynamis aren't even close to being full, considering houses there still run up into the thousands on 3/4 of the worlds. The next 4 will just be taken up by multi-owners/people who just want a house again and the cycle continues. Discords are already preparing for people to go buy up houses as soon as FCs are opened lol, with no intention of actually participating in the DC community.
I mean for those who doubted they were doing this for use for DT DC Travel, they are opening the new EU DC the same day ONLY for the purpose of DC travel to alleviate congestion. So it really is primarily for that purpose. The only reason why they are opening it fully here is because it would be weird to have 4 open worlds and 4 'for travel only' worlds.
I cant wait til 6 people own all of the new servers housing too
