Is hair clipping getting fixed in Dawntrail?

Graphics update looks great. But it seems like this would have been the best time to fix hair clipping. I don't always want to wear the butt glams or a hempen camise, so some armour doesn't work with long hair.

Based on the benchmark, it looks like it's not getting fixed

almost always why i have to use a pony tail or short hair.

even then sometimes that will clip literally that same gear showed there wont work for any of the hair i like but i love the glam.

it's a shame because i really want nice gear but everytime i find something i like, it's generally clipping with the hair i like.

I highly doubt it. They'd either have to re-joint every hairstyle to accommodate every clippable piece of gear (nope) or give every piece of clippable gear unique collision for said hair, which would entail the creation of a phys system specifically for the interaction between hair and gear (mega nope).

They could also just cut off hair models at a certain point when wearing certain gear, but at that point I'd personally just tell people to use different hairstyles.

Things like this should be put in the bug forum really. They have actively been sorting the bug reports and unfortunately, many of them were put in General Discussion instead and were probably missed entirely...

They said they wouldn't be doing anything about clipping with this graphics update.

Unless you're looking for something like this or for the game to automatically put your hair into an up-do variant like TERA did, I'm not sure what else could be done while still maintaining appropriate performance numbers and not modifying a bunch of armor designs?

In order to render hair properly to avoid clipping, they would have to add a huge amount of skeleton mesh connections so it flows properly. It would probably end up causing hair to be more complex than the rest of the character's bodies. I don't expect this to be resolved for the life of the game unless they plan on going for another massive upgrade in 10 years to add AI based hair rendering.

As many have already said, this is never going to happen for various technical reasons. If it bothers you that much you'll have to change your hair or change your gear.

It would be nice if you could tie a hairstyle to a glam plate so you could just use a shorter hairstyle with certain gear without going back and forth to the barber, but who knows if that's possible either.

They could just go the Viera route and make it so that some helms don't render at all if you have particular hair options picked :)

I thought we were supposed to not worry about clipping, and demand super long hairstyles, like, super loudly - and clipping be ignored.

It could be neat if long hairstyles had like...a ponytail equivalent or something that could be toggled without going to aesthetician, but other than that, hair clipping with high collars and other tall structures in the neck region is never going to get fixed. Hell, it happens even in games that include some hair physics. It's just a consequence/tradeoff for having variety in clothes and hair shapes.

I really liked TERA's automatic up-do variants for longer hairstyles. While they weren't quite pretty, i.e. you got like ponytail or tight buns, it was a nice option. But that's probably too much work for our small indie company.

I want a hairstyle that goes down to the back of my knees or ankles, clipping be damned.

To prevent clipping, you would need a good physics engine. And you would have to rework all hairstyles, all bodies and all clothes to do that correctly. So it is very unlikely, that they will do that.

Like the others are saying I don't see that change happening, but a realistic solution I would love is if you could select hairstyles to be connected to glamour plates, AND an option to tie longer hairstyles up into a ponytail or something (make it a toggle like how you toggle visor/weapons/hats).

This is probably one of those issues that, from a development standpoint, just isn't worth fixing. Given the sheer amount of time it would take to make sure every hairstyle works with every armor/race combination, and create alternatives for then they don't, it's probably more efficient for the devs to just let things clip as needed.

This is why I end up not using a lot of glams (including a lot of the store bought ones I might add), because for some damn reason they insist on giving most of them stuff bunched around the back of the neck and all my favorite hairs clip through them. And when I *do* feel like using a short hairstyle I enjoy? I still end up avoiding the clip-happy glams because I don't want to redo the glam now, oh and SHEER SPITE, lol.

It's also why the "hairstyles tied to face" thing for female Hrothgar already feels like a pain to deal with, because now I have to be careful I don't pick one of the long hairstyles that clips through things that other ones don't, and then realizing I don't like the other shorter options, not even being able to fall back on unlocked hairstyles because I don't know which ones (of any) can be used at launch, so now I have to pick a completely different face to avoid the issue.

Might want to get used to mentally blocking out the clipping sadly. :(

In the distant future i imagine hair-clipping will be solved but then we'll have to deal with the issue of shoelace-clipping.

I don't care about clipping, but I'd like some longer hairstyles on Au Ra that aren't super saiyan

Hair clipping is always going to be a thing unless they overhaul their engine and hair physics, as well as remaking every hair to have that in.

A possible (theoretical) solution with how the game currently is should be having a similar tech to the hats, where they change the hair model underneath to accomodate it, so certain pieces of gear would cause variations in some long hairstyles.

I just doubt this could be feasible because there are many more collar variations to be taken into account to make the hair adjustments. Imagine if every time they release an item with a big collar or a pulled down hood, they would have to go back to every long hairstyle and adapt them... for every race and gender combination.

Take a page from Viera and give us floofy long hair. I can't imagine they'd fix the clipping...though I can wish for it. I'll always avoid anything clippy or switch to a shorter hair if I really love the glam more than my hair.
