Resub issues and region lock need to be addressed ASAP

Since the people who can't resub also can't post on the forums for help, I'm posting this here on their behalf.

I have asked around including some of my friends living in Singapore, tried to do same methods above with no luck. 1 of them even bought game time card and tried to input the code but met with page asking for address? Worst, the countries mentioned above are not listed in the first place. Like why do we need to even add address just to pay sub?

Is there anyone from SEA and other regions having troubles to sub to the game? The previous system was fine despite the UI not being modern and having to use crysta, like why change now when Dawntrail is getting close? I havent bought Dawntrail yet because even buying from SE store people are faced with the same issued

We live in 2024, i thought companies know how to money grab people by now somehow SE managed to make it harder for us give money to them. Hoyoverse especially with Genshin and Star Rail made it so easy to buy stuff from several payment methods. Heck, even FF14 is not available on steam in SEA region due to region lock?

Yes, i have send SE support request so i hope i get feedback and maybe even official statement soon because i just want to play FF14 right now for FF16 event and in 2 months for Dawntrail not deal with Mogstation (Savage)....

.. it shouldn't be this hard to give money.

Also, to add on to this, as in international game in 2024, it should not be impossible to change your region. People move to different countries, and it really should not be frustratingly hard to give SE money to play FFXIV.

In my own case, I bought the game when I was living in the USA, and now my current region is Taiwan. This is doubly problematic because I also bought the NA Steam version of FFXIV, and because FFXIV is not in Taiwan's Steam storefront, I could not buy Dawntrail. Even though the Taiwan Steam store has the free trial. Why is the free trial available but the expansions are not?

Coupled that with being permanently locked to Steam if you bought it on Steam, this is frankly unacceptable.

SE, please allow your paying customers (who want to give you money, might I add) to change their region, and please add more regions (notably SEA, some smaller EU countries) to the list of available regions, and give the ability to unlink Steam from their account.

I'm also gonna post for people who can't post as I know some. Discover credit and Visa debit's both being met with "this card is unavailable" with no error code. They are in the NA region, are using the correct addresses, and have followed ALL of supports' troubleshooting tips with no fix. It has been 11 days since the issue began as of April 30th and no word from Square Enix. At this point I am wondering if Discover and Visa are no longer accepted by the new payment processor even though their most recent post says they are.

For those whose accounts are at risk and currently subscribe to extra retainers on the mogstation, I would recommend clearing out their inventory as a precaution.

If your sub lapses due to your card being declined, you will also lose access to those retainers. Depending on which options for payment are closed off to you, you may literally be unable to access them ever again.

Also clear out your houses and gardens in case this takes months to resolve. There's a time limit to picking up the furniture after auto-demolition has taken place.

If you can't resubscribe to pay for your retainers then you also can't resubscribe to use the items, unless you plan on giving them away to friends or FC.

Retainer inventories do not vanish when you stop paying for them.

That would be true only if timecards didn't exist, which allow you to maintain a subscription but can't be used to pay for account services. It's possible for someone to be in a situation where they can remain subbed to the game, but have no access to these optional services.

I also did not state that retainer inventories vanish, I said you would lose access to them. In some ways that's actually more cruel, since you know your data is sitting right there, just inaccessible to you because of some ridiculous bureaucracy.

Some people have been able to resub with timecards but afaik those don't allow you to pay for extra retainers. So anything on the extra retainers could be permanently lost.

does gametime also ask for address update? when i check my gametime option, i can enter the code, but idk if there will be address update after confirm

My account got hit by an i2501 error whenever I keep selecting any payment option. It’s been 72 hours and the issue persists. Square support has just been copy pasting their FAQ and one genius told me to just make a new account. NA player.

The need to halt auto demolition if this is a problem. No excuse for someone losing a house because they can't make a payment due to changes in payment requirements. There should at the least be a cooldown period for this to be resolved.

That's most likely more of a Steam issue than a SE issue tbf, Since Steam gets a cut from money made on the Steam version.

Hahaha, what is Square thinking? That's incredibly wild and delusional of them to think people will give them more money after their account has been locked for no reason and support refuses to fix it. Unbelievable.

I believe it's being addressed, but it's in Japanese.
