- Less cutscenes. I don't really like the general trend of putting cutscenes everywhere in games.
- Not too much cutesy things (Lopporits were... Difficult for me).
- Re-design healers, a little more identity for healers and tanks. Dps are fine IMO.
Edit : I would also like them to investigate the buff / debuff field in ALL (not only HL) encounters. I miss those.
The community's ability to take and give constructive criticisim
I want to see the team actually prioritize content that keeps people engaged with the game post MSQ through the next expansion.
I think part of that is a post MSQ job update as well since, as with healers, the role has needed adjustments for quite some time.
I think my position on healer DPS actions is obvious at this point, but on another case -- the pure/barrier healer "design" has to go. Bring back Nocturnal sect, too.
If we could have the kimonos from Kugane NPCs, that would be some sick glam imo.
- Content that has more longevity.
- (Content) More focus on social interaction.
- Improved and more PvP modes.
- Improved role identity and importance.
Player centric side content.
I play a lot of PvP (mostly CC) and Mahjong, which are great for the down time during later part of patch and their main issue is the sheer lack of rewards outside of handful of one and done stuff. I will get to that later.
The real meat I am talking about is all these co-op or versus game modes that aren't static and repetitive like raiding is. They create variety and have players engage with each other instead of just having another set of PvE stuff that is mostly forgettable at this point.
As example they really should rework and make stuff like Chocobo racing properly up to date. It's a lot of wasted potential and feels awful to control, imagine if they could have a more proper Mario Kart-like minigame inside the game? Surely the server tickrate makes it kinda hard, but at least it could be reasonably fun with the powerups and such breaking the optimal lines each game.
They could also make more use of collectibles. Lords of verminion attempt this but it is clunky and re-uses the abilities of minions a lot. Things like orchestrions, triple triad cards (TT itself is imo quite lacking despite the massive set of rules), maybe even stuff like fishing / sightseeing log. As all of it would give more reason to collect those things and get to use them in side activities. As it is, most of the minigames and whatnot are from ARR era and it really shows.
As for the rewards I mentioned earlier that could easily activate the player base more, I'm not talking about going back and making series sets top 100 exclusives, I'm talking about expanding them overall through all skill ranks. It would not take a lot of effort to do some VERY basic additions to the rewards.
Like Mahjong rewarding more MGP per game to make it worth while option for MGP grinding (supposedly there's some issues with JP gambling laws so scaling rewards probably can't be done?), just having Top 100 for Mahjong would be fun, even though the player base is super small and risks wintrading if GMs don't care.
For Crystalline Conflict I wouldn't mind seeing a button or two added to most or all Jobs, but that would be kinda big and require HP and Potency overhaul, so I'm talking more about the simple rewards. Having Ranked match provide like double the generic tomes etc. compared to Casual would already help, but adding Ranked currency that scales basing on your final rank and starts from Bronze would allow more casual people to eventually farm their favorite rewards over multiple seasons.
Adding 2-3 recolors of Series armor to something like Gold, Diamond, Top 100 would be simple way to encourage participation. As everyone can easily get the Armor set from Series, it would allow bit more variety with the dyes by making the recolors use the parts that are non-dyeable.
Adding Hunt shop or other stuff to the Wolf Mark shop and some new Dyes to Trophy Crystal shop for example (they would be tradeable) would give more value to the currencies and make them more useable. This would give PvP side more short term immediate rewards. As for longer term rewards, they could easily add multi Rank X Titles for reaching certain break points in many Seasons and another set of Hellhound weapons to use collars on. The ultimate goal could be full Hellhound armor set that is upgradeable with the Commendation Crystals, piece by piece, like the current Weapons are.
There's a lot more options they could do, but plenty of them like sidecontent relics would be massive workload compared to the ones I suggested above.
In general, I just want there to be more and better player focused stuff to do with others.
Oh and let people queue Casual CC with friends, it makes no sense to not be able to play MMO with others. Just prioritize same size stacks against each other for balance, unless it takes a good while to find match.
Nothing's really "fallen flat" for me with EW. And I still have a slew of post-MSQ EW content to do between now and when DT releases. I guess the biggest thing I'd like to see is an improved Glamour system. The plates are very limited in number given the amount of jobs we have, and I just find the system tedious to use when you can only set them up in certain places. Aside from maybe that, there's nothing that I want to see "really change," because I really enjoy how it is right now.
Jobs, PvP and outside.
job design as a whole, please.
- I would like a Field Operation and more social content, but we are getting that now.
- The menus condensing ie. Duty Finder and Raid Finder are the same thing now, saddlebag and inventory and armory chest could be combined or link to eachother and so on.
- Proper rewards for MINE content similar to the Blue Mage weekly targets, Faux Hollows and WT.
- Disable indicators/telegraphs feature so people can make normal versions more challenging for themselves.
- Stop bosses re-centering themselves. It causes as many problems as it solves.
- If they have to re-center themselves, stop making them face south or other directions, when people usually tank north.
- I don't need jobs to be complex, but many people seem to like it. Maybe have an advanced job system that alters jobs to play more like Stormblood but at the same potency ie. the traits become keep-up buffs again such as Blood of the Dragon and GL4.
- Let me place waymarks mid-fight in normal content. It allowed me to help sprouts a lot.
- Utilise the cloud server to produce unlimited scaling wards, allowing for unlimited housing.
- Utilise the cloud server to increase inventory and glamour spaces, at least at Inns.
- Add the ability to disable rendering of blacklisted players or only render friends and party members, to help with cases such as https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...Refusal-to-act
pvp aoe skill caps to 5 targets
Roleplay gameplay, things that enhance your feeling you are playing that job or concept (it's an RPG after all) : https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-Other-MMOs%29
Open world engagement, improving longevity and dynamic ability. Add fire teams that don't mess up your queue, where you can get dynamic parties to complete content together, chat, and work together with your spells. (Can use in the gold saucer as well).
Glamour log akin to other MMOs that have complete logs.
Move limited jobs to advanced (akin to the first desire of roleplay, express jobs without limiting them, in this situation it means a limited job might have a limited and 'unlimited' tied together).
I like the island, but on housing, blend apartments and houses into one system where you can purchase an interior and upgrade it (no limit per server, maybe limit per account if need be, but every person can at least have one), the interior can be now placed into life style content locations if you don't want a permanent address. For example island, or the fete Ishgard (your plot would be phased), cosmic area, doma, etc.
The other aside of Island, add to the base of the structure not just the top. Improve the gameplay of gathering, capturing, etc. Add challenges or leve/tribe like quests that expand play style. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...Mammet-Qs-More
Movement, making movement a gameplay element, addressing hold w to win mount situation.
I would appreciate the addition of an entirely optional over-the-shoulder camera view during quests. This feature would allow players who choose to use it to see what's ahead, without their character disappearing as it does in first-person mode.
Lifting older restrictions: more glamour plates, more glamour storage slots, higher buff/debuff cap, etc, etc. Core game and story and such are all fine, especially with Field Operations returning and Lifestyle Content having option of coop, so I'd rather them work on the old spaghetti code and untagling it to give more QoL.
Same. This is the biggest problem.
Glamour – Endwalker gear's colour choices were often quite poor, with some dingy base colour choices (particularly the Neo-Ishgardian recolour) or fixed-colour highlights that were hard to work with and set a narrow range of colours you could dye a piece without clashing.
I also hope they won't repeat the decision of not putting gear in the level 89 dungeon. Even if it's just a recolour, it serves a purpose in encouraging people to run the high-level dungeon that they are unable to encounter until they're likely nearly done with levelling roulette until the next expansion. I've barely touched the Aitiascope since I ran it for MSQ, whereas I had plenty of reason to run Castrum Abania and Mt Gulg when they were in the same place for their respective expansions.
Likewise for the "just finished MSQ" capstone dungeons. I had zero motivation to run the level 90 roulette when all it got me was jewellery that I wasn't very keen on. (Negative motivation with how depressing the Dead Ends is, even if that's the point.)
And more dresser space will be greatly appreciated. I am very close to capacity and will have to start culling things I'd rather keep.
Post MSQ contents that are not one and dones
Gameplay: I would like several difficult Field Exploration zones to explore and progress through and build up relic weapons. Also, I would like to be able to queue for ranked Crystalline Conflict with friends.
Story: lack of tension since nothing bad will ever befall the heroes or the countries they fight for, too much standing around and espousing empty platitudes and egregious protagonist centered morality/hypocrisy. The setting usually feels stales and not wonderous or exciting. Knock it off with the uwu rabbits and hamburger nonsense.
Same here.
Job Design on a Macro Level:
- Revamped Healer Design
- More decision-based design
- better use of resource management, both MP and gauges
I want something that feels more the speed of what Stormblood offered, but I don't mean backtracking to Stormblood. Rather I mean developing job design in a new direction witih a better balance of complexity and simplicity. It doesn't need to feel overwhelming, but I want something with texture.
I want crunchy peanut butter; not raw peanuts, not extra smooth peanut butter... Leave some pieces of crunch for me to sink my teeth into.
Hoo boi, a lot.
Character
- Improve the Character Status window. Don't just show me 2399 Crit. That doesn't tell me anything. Show me the actually useful information: 26% Critical Chance & 161% Critical Damage.
- Give our characters an actual finger instead of block of tofus pls >,>
Gameplay
- Let my spell go off even if my main target dies before my spellcast is finished at where the mob's dying. That would at least let me cleave the other surrounding enemies with my AoE.
- Hire more job designers. Four brains for 19, and soon to be 21 jobs won’t cut it.
- By proxy after that previous point is fulfilled, diversify the jobs instead of turning everything into "build gauge, then spend"-design space.
- Please, get an experienced healer designer that knows how to make healer job for players who wants to play a healer, not to coax non-healer mains to play healer.
- Remove 2 minute meta. Roll back to plethora of 15, 20, 30, 60, and 90 timers.
- Make Alliance Raids possessing the bite of the good old Ivalice/NieR raids. They're optional contents. IMHO it's okay to make them more punishing than your braindead MSQ duties since they're not required.
- Make capstone dungeon give 1 guaranteed drop for a role you’ve chosen to queue in as. If they're so worried about having the content ‘dying’ then they could also make this a feature only for synced run on top of having the existing roulette. I don’t care. Just don’t make me run lv60 HW dungeon 90+ times without seeing the piece I want dropping.
- More levequest allowance. Reason: 15,000 levequest needed to clear all levequest achievement, meaning 3,850 days to get the needed allowances to clear everything. Am I expected to play for 11 years to get all these done if I just start today hypothetically? Lmao.
Glamour
- Remove glamouring role restriction.
- More pieces that show necklace, bracelet, and ring slots. Or better yet, unlock these on older gears. Maybe make them dyeable pieces too.
- On top of having 2nd dye channel, please make more previously undyeable items dyeable!
- Unlock the genderlocks on gears like Neo-Ishgardian & good amount of NieR pieces.
- More Glamour Dresser space.
- More Glamour Plate slots. Preferably enough to let me make 1 plate for each existing jobs.
- Make some sort of ‘dye bag’ in similar fashion as where we store our shards/crystals/clusters. Feels odd when I need change certain glam plate on another home world but I can’t access my dyes unless I bring all of them around with me.
- Obligatory MORE DYES. We need some good, more purples!!
- Please for the love of the Twelve, make eye recoloring an Aesthetician feature. I don't care if you have to raise the gil cost.
- Allow glamour dresser to ‘record’ more than just 1 dye. Today we need to dye the physical item before putting in the piece. What if we can dye the pieces inside the dresser with 2 colors so it will ‘save’ these two colors?
Social
- Blacklist should remove the blacklisted from the blacklister’s perspective for good. I understand if they make an exception to cases when both sides are pulled into the same duties though.
- In the event where first point was fulfilled, put a distinctive marker (or better, right click to see previous name) over the players who changes their name just recently within our friend list so I don't need to think about 69 hypothetical situations of "When did I met this fella..."
- Let me whisper another player in duties.
UI
- Allow us to set cursor memory. Why do every Yes/No confirmation are defaulted to "No"?
- Improve the Duty Finder UI. Don’t make me wait 6m as a tank despite telling me it’s Tank in Need when switching to healer in this case would 90% of time insta-pop the roulette.
- Merge the Dawntrail lv100 dungeon roulette with the older expac’s capstone dungeon roulette (Make it 50/60/70/80/90/100 dungeon roulette, or just “Capstone Dungeon”). Today’s lv90 dungeon roulette IMHO is a waste of space for something else more interesting.
- Allow me to view housing demo timer IN-GAME.
- Allow me to VIEW ‘expired’ retainer’s inventory/status in game.
- Reduce loot roll timer down to 1 to 3 minutes. Maybe they can even create a setting where party lead can decide how long a loot timer's going to be so long it's reserved for premades (1 to 5 minutes as options).
- Limit how many time a player can change their price listing for each entry per 6 hours.
Miscellaneous
- Allow Alliance Raid duties to start anyway while backfilling members when less than 8 players didn’t commence initially. Frontlines already does this.
- Prevent basic classes (GLD, MRD, CNJ, etc) from queueing into any duties above lv30 unless it’s a premade. PvP similarly prevents basic classes from queueing.
- Region-wide Duty Finder.
- Hire more functioning GMs.
- Do something with the achievement certificate currencies? Anything more at all?
- Allow me to interacts/talk to NPC while STAYING on top of my mount?
Ooh yes, this. There's obviously the ability to do this, as they've done it for the Valerian gearsets (but forgot about Farlander which shares the models). A lot of the undyeable gear has a dyeable equivalent now, and particularly in recent expansions, the dyeable version existed first.
This went out the window with the invention of Discord and bots. Everything social has been pretty much reduced to spreadsheets and waiting for a discord ping. Even the aspects of sharing information with your friends are covered by looking on a wiki or IGN. I don't know how they can create more social interaction that Discord won't monopolize with bots and pings. Like I guess some people would still view hunt trains as social interaction but I don't. Maybe I'm the odd ball here but "Just join the discord" isn't social engagement to me.
I honestly don't know. I wish I did, I wish I had some answer that would return my love of the game but I don't. Too much water under the bridge maybe, or maybe the game has just shifted out from under me, I dunno.
And that seems like a fitting final post. Sub runs out today and I don't know if I'm going to buy Dawntrail or not. I'll be watching the job action demonstration in some vain hope of something striking a cord but it's lights out for now.
So for anyone who reads this, I wish you the best. Ciao!
- Reworked/Overhauled Gearing System as a Whole they could make it so that Weapons/Armors etc have a Separate Leveling system lets say if you get a Weapon or Armor to lvl 10 and you go talk to gerolt he gives you an upgrade Quest for weapons and armors once you complete it it raises the level cap of it and changes appearance of the armor and the Weapon according to Class you have equipped
-FC House WorkShop to be available for everyone even if someone isnt in an FC they should make it so that as long as you own Any Kind of House that would come with a WorkShop
-Sub Class System
-increased Tome Cap either to 4K or 6K
-Increased weekly Tome Cap to either 900 or 1.8K
-Increased tome rewards from Dungeons etc if something gives 80/50 they should make it so that it gives 240/150 instead and for the Rouls they should make it so that it gives 1500/450 from 1 Full run of all rouls
-Overhauled/reworked/Better Relic System including Relic Armor Tied to the First thing i mentioned
-Better/Reworked/overhauled Combat System
-Reworked ilvl system
-Reworked character Stats
-npc Trials
-npc 8-man Raids
-npc Extreme Trials
-npc Savages
-npc ultimates
These last 5 are prob what are gonna piss people off big time before people get pissed off i will explain why those last 5 essentially what they could do is to make separate tabs in the Duty support section of the game and put those in there if they do it that way then it would be available for those who dont want to do them with other players
Bring back the Diadem/Restoration. I want to see Ala Mhigo and Garlmald next. Would be cute if they opened up the doors to the main parts of Ala Mhigo, and added a housing district to bring it on par with the rest of the city states in Eorzea.
I want Garlmald to be the sequel to that. It could tie all of the restorations together. Doma, Ishgard, and Ala Mhigo. Watching Doma and Ala Mhigo learn to help Garlmald, and overcome traumatic scars would be an interesting plot point for restorations.
Garlmald would make an excellent Enclave in the vein that Doma was used for dumping excessive materials in our inventory. I’m not saying no to a housing ward, but unlike Ala Mhigo, Garlmald is in no state to add housing for a long time. As much as I want a magitek housing ward.
Anyway, I think that these restorations were a fun part of the game, and that they brought the community together in a similar way to Eureka/Bozja did, but in a way that was less about combat, and more about coming together to build up the realm. I want to see it again.
Turn DRK to DPS. I've been forced to play a role I highly dislike thanks to Yoshida and his stupid decisions and ego.
"GO PLAY ANOTHER DPS CLASS, THERE ARE PLENTY"
I don't care, I like DRK, I always played and mained DRK, DRK in plentyful of other places is a DPS, that Yoshida in his grandeur, decided to change it for FFXIV, it isn't my problem.
Open world battle content.
It's hard to say because I have to be reasonable about what I want and expect, otherwise I'll be very doomy when DT releases.
Really hoping for a lot more with the graphic update, like improved character customization. I don't just want more options, but I want them to expand existing options such as height or tail length. Really just give people ways to actually be genuinely unique without having to resort to mods.
Move the bar to level 90-100 content from SB to DT, all of it, so we have so much more content to do, and make ways to grind levels and the likes you need on whatever class from 1 to 80.... and dungeons and more being more rewarding.
It very much feel like as it is, that old content is not of value and that no one need to go and visit them places anymore, and for all those that buy level and story skip they pretty much skip anything in between ARR and and up to almost max.
Here are some thoughts, sorry for rambling.
Why can't I make one Portrait, use it for all jobs, and have it stay the same regardless of what gear I'm using? The portrait on my adventurer card is universal. I like the concept of portraits, but I don't like it enough to want to spend a lot of time making one for every job, and then have it break because I forgot to show my headgear before entering a duty.
----
Someone on Page 1 said fewer cutscenes. I don't have a problem with the amount of them, but I am tired of standing around outside in the rain while NPCs discuss important business (doesn't Fourchenault have an office?), waiting for characters to awkwardly emote between lines of dialog, and listening to the same music every time (that one song in particular, most recently in the CS where you meet Wuk Lamat, can't stand that one). Good gods, some CS's are a chore to get through.
----
I want battle content that isn't entirely scripted. As a tank main, I don't feel particularly useful in trials, raids, or dungeon bosses; especially if I'm the off-tank. The job has become "press button, become damage sponge." Give me something to do; bring back boss positioning, give me a small chance to interrupt a big raid-wide... anything. Make tanking great again.
I will also parrot the desire for open-world battle content. Remember Besieged in FFXI? That was fun.
----
I would like a complete overhaul of character progression, but unfortunately that won't happen without fundamental changes to the entire system. The existing formula of "gain ten levels, spend the next two years grinding for better gear that's made obsolete with every patch" has gotten quite stale. I would be fine with leaving the cap at 90 and having a way to customize our characters; bring back some sort of cross-class system along with something akin to Merit Points from FFXI.
On a related note, we had that stat squish at the start of EW, but that didn't change the basic problem of ever-increasing item levels. The way things are going, there will need to be another stat squish in the future. Stat inflation is a problem. It sucks to get a new job to 90, but be completely locked out of current content because the difference between i590 and i660 is so great.
It doesn't matter what category they put those in, the whole point is that they're supposed to be group activities you do with other people in this MMO.
But since people want XIV to be a subscription-based single player game for some godforsaken reason, let me give you another reason why this shouldn't happen.
Nothing we have seen from Trust NPCs has indicated that they're making them smarter, it's in fact the opposite. They've reworked old dungeons that had more experimental mechanics to be the same cookie cutter "dodge donut aoe, dodge point blank aoe, slow cast tank buster with giant indicator, some kind of cleave"-design, because the Trust AI is simply too stupid to deal with anything else, they can't even attack or heal and dodge mechanics at the same time.
Now what do you think would happen if they introduced Trust NPCs to raids, extreme trials or god forbid Ultimate? Completely watered down fights that all follow the exact same formula so the NPCs can deal with it, using fixed positions, only the most basic mechanics and certainly no DPS checks. Makes me shudder to just think about.
People meme about Lynx Kameli's "Stand and let thing resolve" comment, and for good reason, but designing high-end content around Trust NPCs without a massive overhaul to how they function would actually make that a reality.
And to be honest I doubt even an overhaul to the Trust AI would make them able to deal with current raid mechanics.
