Cloud Data Center Stress Test Feedback Thread (November 2023)

This thread is for providing feedback regarding the cloud server stress test taking place in November 2023.

We would appreciate if you could provide any feedback you may have while playing on the cloud data center. While we will be keeping an eye out for any issues reported during the test, reports regarding smooth server performance and play experiences would be helpful for our reference as well.

Please note that because the cloud data center is located on the east coast of North America, players connecting from different regions may experience latency. This latency occurs due to a player's distance from the data center, which also occurs on existing data centers.

i play from Brazil on the Primal behemot server with about 220ms, on this cloud NA east I can play with 140ms, this for me is wonderful, it's less than I used to play on wow

I've never seen this game so fluid, it feels like another game for me. The simple fact of talking to an NPC and being instant the answer, I only have 300hrs of gameplay so I still need to understand a lot how it works, but it seems really very very good to me right now

Edit: I live in the south of Brazil, that's why the ping is so high, people who play in the north have 140 by default in primal. Brazil is very big haha

Did anyone have the IPs for the cloud DC worlds? Wanted to try to let some friends test their ping. Also it's been smooth so far just the queues are bad when using the skips so far since so many people are trying!

I'm using Windows Resource Monitor and currently with only ffxiv_dx11 checked it says I'm 20-29ms. I'm Southern Ontario. So the same ping I had back when the servers were in Montreal.

This appears to be a lobby server (login queue) 35.203.99.71
This appears to an ip for Cloudtest01 34.95.11.28

Can ping lobby but not the game server, so no idea what ping or route is for the 2nd one.

So far, the only feedback I have is that every time you use a book you end back in the queue. Been 30 min in the queue after using a book and I'm at 1500 (started at 26543). So choose your books wisely. ;)

Latency is awesome for us Brazilians, I'm getting 125ms on Cloud Server, i normally get 195ms on Primal. Game feels a lot better now, I hope you're able to keep a datacenter on the east coast for us

In the Chicago area.
Latency is half of what I would get on Crystal (60-80ms compared to 30ms as of right now). The login queue, while long, seems to be moving at a manageable pace to where it isn't a huge issue. I am sure that if this gets a full rollout, we will surely find out differently.

Because everyone has to use books which triggers logout and back to the queue again.
Probably temporary.

I'm so far from both data centers that it makes almost no difference. I'm in Florida and my ping went from 85 to 61 (over wifi natch). I won't be able to see if I start rubberbanding and disconnecting (happens a lot, again wifi) until at least tomorrow night.

Well I suppose it makes sense that the login servers haven't also been adjusted to scale for getting more players through at a time yet. My ping seems lower so far due to the montreal IP being physically closer but most of the last two hours has been spent in the same queue.


Edit - ping is 25ish, server itself works well it seems. Cleared to bozja with a party running the prereq. raids. Doubt the servers are experiencing tons of players yet with how late it is but havent seen any DCs or weirdness yet.

Well so far for me changing areas has been quite smooth and quick. So I'm thinking my ping is probably quite low. And there's very little latency so so far actually going pretty good.

Got to love waiting through over 3k in the queue, to finally make it in and click on the first book only to be logged out without warning and thrown back into the queue of over 3k.

Login queue is long to be expected, but based on what I'm seeing is they're letting between 50-65 players through their virtual load balancers. These being Cloud Servers running on a Hypervisor, there's lots of virtual elements to these servers so it seemed to be a smooth log in process. Will see how it is later today when I pop my other books.

It's so nice to play the game fluidly, it feels like another game to me. I was playing with 190ms on Primal data center, now in cloud data center is 130ms. I even discovered that I can hit mobs while the tank pulls without me being interrupted in the middle of the attack lmao

I had no packet loss, no players teleporting, no mechanic issues in 3 hours since the test was released. At the moment it's been a great experience

Considering it doesn't seem to be creating new instances for starting zones to allow more players in, I'm not surprised the queue wasn't changed. If they didn't give out MSQ+Job books, I don't think the queue would be moving as it is now.

I have a feeling the move to cloud isn't for automatic instance scaling, but rather so they don't end up in the same spot during Endwalker where they couldn't procure more servers and had queues for days.

Anyways beyond that, the lower ping (120ms on Primal to 30-40ms) is absolutely night and day. Activities like Blunderville are a lot less "That didn't even hit me!".
I am a bit surprised they went with the east coast instead of splitting it in the middle and trying Dallas or Iowa.

I play from Puerto Rico and it feels like a whole new game. Ping is around 70-80ms, down from my usual 120-130 to Aether. I mostly play CC and having abilities go off instantly is a game changer. So far I havent had any issues so far. Also load times between zones seem to be really fast now.

I'm in the Midwestern part of the US, and so far, the Cloud DC is pretty smooth so far. Pretty much response times on interacting NPCs, items, interactable destinations has been quicker than it has been for the other NA DC, whether one place is empty or full of people. The Party and Solo instances have been pretty smooth and stable too. I feel like the latency from where I am may be a little lower than I'm used to.

When I was doing the kills for My Little Chocobo, I noticed a possible issue with vertical mob agro tethers at Central Shroud ( 17.1 , 20.2 ) Z: 0.9
Attacking a brood ziz on the upper section would cause agro with some qirin in the cave far below. Another player mentioned having a similar event happen nearby when attacking a slug and one of the flying dragon type mobs above came down after them.
I checked the same circumstances in a normal realm, and everything worked normally there.

Playing in midwest United States, so game response has been fine otherwise so far.

The queue is really slow. If there are ways to improve that, especially in anticipation of expansion launches, that would be one thing.

I've had that sort of thing happen on the live servers. Replaying the early Gridania MSQ in New Game+, there's a quest to kill some of the qiqirn in that cave, and when doing it as a level 90, it caused enough tether agro to bring some of those ziz from above after me. So this isn't a cloud server problem.

ping for us brazillians is pretty decent, high hopes for an east coast server

I'm in Southern California, the increase in latency has been barely noticeable for me (generally when using stuns/interrupts). Overall, the experience has been smooth so far.

Character creation set my character homeworld to Cloudtest02. I went to Cloudtest01 to spawn Kaiser Behemoth about 20 minutes ago and now I'm unable to return to 02 due to congestion.
"This World is experiencing congestion. Characters from other Worlds cannot visit at this time." even though my character is from 02.

I gave "Return to Home World" a try and got "World visit is not available at this time" as the response.

Testing to see if one of the Tales of Adventure books will successfully work when not on my homeworld. It seems to have updated my character with the new job information successfully.

I'm a veteran player from Behemoth (Primal) and latency is usually around 200ms... Now, in Cloud Server, it's around 140ms, so I'd say it's a huge improvement! o/

I cannot express how much better this game "feels" with a substantive difference in ping. It feels even better than it did prior to the Stormblood era server transition. Going from like 80-90 ping down to mid 50's is fantastic.

I'm currently trying the cloud server and I can't tell if there's any differences it feels the same as the regular server

I must echo the praises from the other Brazilians. Please make all data centers cloud based as standard.

East coaster here, the difference is night and day. My skill into another skill does not fall off, which is really nice.

[Will add more when I have played more]
Added stuff:
- Blunderville feels fair now, I can dodge without being miles away and still getting hit.
- Skills feel like they are synced correctly on cooldowns (Not sure if this is a feeling thing but it definitely felt like this.)
- Loading zones is much much faster
- Text and cutscenes load in quicker
- Can actually dodge mechanics without being snapshot even though I was out of it


The game is actually playable at 18-20 ms vs what I typically get despite being in North America (80-100ms) [sometimes over if bad connection or routing]

The warning was in the item's description that you didn't read.

I've twice now experienced a lockout on finishing gathering, where the quick gather/gather window just doesn't close despite finishing. I can talk, I can't use any actions, there doesn't seem to be any lag issues whatsoever. I've experienced this once before over 3 years of playtime (and I do gather a lot) so it seems like something that might have been exacerbated by the cloud service somehow.

As far as I know, the only solution is to force-close the game

I have been getting error 2002s while in queue, not sure if it's releated to the server or to the long queues like on expansion release.

I haven't been playing with players yet. Did duty support, that was very smooth as well as the entire login and setup process for me. I am sitting in europe so east coast is a fair bit away but i dont see an issue at all with ping so far.

If you had already made a character on Cloudtest02 and you're trying to log back in, the world is experiencing congestion so that may be why you're getting the 2002. My 02 character is still stuck on 01, unable to travel back (I check every 20-30 minutes).

So, while the test is just seeing how many ppl it can handle. there was a missed opportunity with how the skips work. Instead of having them as they are now, could have made it so they were useable from character select screen so you dont get logged out everytime you use one and have to wait to login.

The counter to this is having people pop in and out of the game and hit the queue more often literally stresses that system to test it.

As far as the actual experience in game for me goes, I'm on the East Coast and this morning the game is very laggy on the Cloud servers. Every 3-4 seconds I get a hiccup/momentary freeze. I assumed this was just part of the experience testing this but I don't see anyone else with that problem?

I popped back into the regular servers on my origin of Crystal and did not experience the same issue, so this is isolated to the Cloud servers for me.


EDIT: Steam was downloading, actually. Connection upon later attempt is actually quite nice, with no lag issues.

popping in and out really only test the login. thats not what this about. we get queues on the regular servers. this about testing in game and this slows down said test as ppl gotta bounce in and out to apply these. again, a missed opportunity to change how they work.
