Yes or they could make the key item bag to include tokens and totems
what a coincedence. i just commented about that in another topic.... yes i agree. pls turn all these tokens into currency
I'd say put them in the key items inventory... it does sit empty after all.
I wish but they have refused it before with the excessive data being carried with you or HDD space arguments.
They don't understand why we don't just delete old currencies. Yoshi-P said there isn't a culture of being attached to objects in Japan. So people seeing totems or gear as a trophy of some sort is not something he is used to.
I would be inclined to say have them in the key items tab, rather than storing them in the currency tab. Or something separate of the currency tab.
Apart from one of two current totems, I don’t keep any in my inventory. I just get rid of them the moment I get the mount and focus on only one or two at a time. There’s no point hoarding old books and trophies. Old gear is easy and quick to get if I decide I would like a certain piece as glamour. I wouldn ‘t want my currency tab clogged with dozens of tokens that have no use.
There are too many raid tokens and ex totems to just move them all over to the Currency tab. In their current state, they add no additional storage requirements to the character database because they are just items. If they were moved to the Currency tab the size of character data would increase quite a bit. If they want to add them to the Currency tab they're going to have to reduce the number of tokens and give older expansions' tokens the Poetics treatment. I described such an implementation a couple years ago in the UI forum:
Yes. This is the hill I will die on, for this game. Any currency items should go in the CURRENCY TAB.
From https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/currency.asp... "What Is Currency? Currency is a medium of exchange for goods and services."
In this game, if an item exists solely to exchange for some other item(s), IT IS A CURRENCY AND SHOULD GO IN THE TAB. This business about "just throw it away if you don't need it right now because it's easy to acquire later!" First of all, that's not true for all people/all items, and secondly, I value my time more than to throw away something that I spent time and effort to obtain. If they won't give us a universal glamour log with every item in the game available to unlock, then at least let me store all of my exchangeable currency items in the currency tab, in case I want to use those to get something to complete a glamour in the future.
This game is goofy, on this topic. Why even introduce the currency tab all those years ago only to add such limited things to it in the time since?
I'm also all for compressing the tokens per expansion, once that expansion is no longer current, as Rongway describes. They already do this with their tomestone system, so I would THINK it wouldn't be impossible to do this kind of thing for other content as well... but admittedly I'm not a coder, so what do I know.
Regarding Key Items Tab:
People always feel like that tab is extra inventory. It isn't. It's a visual representation of a checklist. As far as the game is concerned, those aren't "items". The game just has a checkbox either checked or unchecked if you have access to "thing X". I'm not even sure it has a limit. That is, if you somehow managed to fill all three tabs and get another item, I'm not sure what would happen - if the checklist has a cap or what - since every character has the ENTIRE checklist referenced on the backend. You DO have a limit of how many quests you can have at once, so it might have a limit like that, but it's not based on "slots" or "inventory" in the normal sense of the term.
I think Yoshi P has even talked before about that and that being why those can't be converted to extra bag space, since they technically don't exist. Think of them more like a spreadsheet listing things your character is flagged to do (interact with quests) rather than items.
In that sense, it's the same as your currency tab, where it just has you flagged as being able to do X thing Y times.
I think given all that, it'd make sense to just make the totems currencies at this point. It's not like we don't add 3 new Tribal currencies each expansion. And they could make them like Tomes where, when the expansion was done, they all convert to "Reborn/Heaven/Storm/Shadow/End Totem" that you can use to buy any of the things from that expansion (with the caveat you have to clear the Ex before you unlock the things you'd buy with that Ex's totems). It would probably actually SAVE data/server resources to do that than keep the system we have now for perpetuity.
(While they're at it, they could do something similar with Bozja stuff...because good god there's a lot of stuff, even ignoring the quest-only items and focusing on the regular inventory stuff like the Memories...)
One extra point of clarification: Key Items don't even have a designated number of "tabs." The apparent size of your Key Item "inventory" is entirely dependent on your inventory display settings. You see three Key Item tabs because your inventory is set to display fully expanded, so the Key Item tab simply stretches to fit the rest of the inventory display. With a normal inventory display, Key Items only has one apparent "tab."
Which only further demonstrates that it is in no way typical usable "space," as the display settings dictate how empty it appears.
And crash the market on dyes and crafted ex weapons + remove all incentives to join a pf? No thank you. System is fine as it is (I agree on the currency tab: it would be a huge mess given how many totems and books exist). People just need make decisions, stop hoarding useless stuff and be more focused.
Needless inventory clutter, you say?

Some of us are old school single player RPG players who have always hoarded 50 stacks of healing items and consumables along with backup and situational gear just in case we need it at some point... Even though we made it a point to find ways to not use it when it would have been useful... :P
I wonder if it would be feasible to make a specific tab under the currency menu for this..It would be nice if obtained coins and Anemos/Pagos/etc. Crystals in a "Adventuring Foray's" tab, for example.
Bozja also has Clusters, an exchangeable currency that you use when you're in the zones, so maybe they could do something like that? I feel like that would get incredibly bloated even when restricted to that content's zones, though.
I addressed both of those in my original post.
In re: dyes, it doesn't really bother me at all? There's still a daily limit on tribal quests, so at best it'll increase acquisition of some very specific dyes by 4x. I'll take that over wasting currency data on currencies I'll never farm again, because as it stands you can't really farm more than four of the many currencies at a time anyway.
In re: incentives to do the content, my suggestion removes totems entirely for everything two expansions back or older, so if people want things from that far back, they have to farm them outright. Only extremes one expansion back would have a unified currency, and people would still have to complete each one once, so at worst it funnels people into whichever Ex is "the easiest" if all they want is totems, but this is balanced against the the lost opportunity to win immediate drops outright by doing the Ex they actually want items from. You can do MC.Ex 99 times for the R.Ex mount or you can just farm R.Ex and get it in maybe 10 pulls.
They won't do it because filling your inventory with junk makes you want to buy retainers. Simple as.
