Next Limited Job better not take the crossbow weapon

I swear, if its beastmaster, and we never get a full crossbow job because of it, I will be sad. I want a full on ranged crossbow job that can go into regular combat.

There MIGHT be an exception though. There is a difference between a light crossbow and a heavy crossbow. They could reserve one for beastmaster and one for an extra job. Weight class absolutely matters in crossbows.

Machinist already has auto crossbow and the ranged physical dps limit break other than level three uses crossbow(s) already.

Regardless, I doubt that either of those or a limited job using any type of crossbow would matter as Ninja/Viper/Paladin already can be boiled down to Short/Medium/Long swords basically with RDM being Thin ones (rapiers)

Just because there is one crossbow attack, and a limit break does not mean it won't happen. In fact, the crossbow limit break makes it even more likely we will get a crossbow job someday.

Doesn't Beastmaster use whips.

In ff14 they use axe+shield based on Lyon and I think mini lyon.

Melee LBs other than 3 use giant swords, didn't stop dark knight.

In ff11 and other ff games beastmaster appear in they use axe and shield. You could even dual wield axes in ff11 so it probably use an axe and shield if it came.

Guess it depends if it'll get any actual atk skills of its own or if its leaving all the fighting to the monster. If it is more of the monster fighting then I could see whip or crossbow being more of a thing...

Crossbows are for Hunters/Rangers, aka as Bards in this game. Wouldn’t be surprised if it gets more crossbow crap going forward

Nothing saying the Limited Job couldn't be Corsair.

Personally, if the new caster is also an original job than I think the limited will also be original.

I'll just be happy if the next limited job is still centered on combat and not... I dunno, Island Exploration or housing or glam. Bonus if they let it play stuff BLU can't, even if that's just letting it use duty support or Squadrons if they're not letting it use the duty finder anyways.

Beastmasters in general use whips or bells. Honestly would prefer bells because I would eventually like to have a proper whip wielding class ala the Belmont clan from Castlevania.

NOPE! If we do get beastmaster it'll be in the exact same vein as Blu, but rather than being in like only Blu for farming up stuff now beastmaster can party up. If anything they could do more content exculsive to them both, blue/beast exculsive dungeons, exs, raid, etc.

Beastmaster could be pokemon in some sort of shape in form.You could pvp agaisnt npc and other player or creature to train your pet, after that do old content with your pet

I'd love to know how some of you folks actually imagine a crossbow class being visually appealing re: skill animations. There doesn't seem like a lot of flair to be added to the shoot/reload cycle..

And before anyone tries to counter with "but MCH," gun-fu is a trope that exists, and at least adds some visual over-the-top flair.

Maybe I just want a class that shows up and doesn’t have to matrix dodge their own projectiles.
It could be a more tactile class in the sense that it uses pvp demicasts to emphasise the illusion of drawing the crossbow.
It could fire exotic projectiles or have shockwave recoil effects.
It could just be a really big crossbow.
It could be a half magic class with the crossbow supplementing the more flashy burst. Or being a more subdued burst after a flashy filler.
Not that it matters, as if people play with animations on anyway.

I'm predicting it is Blitzballer. Seems too perfect a synergy with the whole oceanfaring, beach vacation vibe. Especially since Mesoamerica is THE ballgame epicenter of history.

BST does not even need to be a job....Just add more chocobo companions.....
(Say that as a XI BST..........Ya'll will thank me later)

Personally what i want for a limited job is them bringing back the G-Warrior, and incorporate the various weapons into it.

It kind of depends, in FF8 for example the whip was used by Quistis. And while the game didn't really have a traditional concept of jobs, if she were to be assigned any, she would've been a Blue Mage.

after what they did to criterion savage, im afraid to hope anymore for beast master.. like theyll either just not impliment it.. which is like, WHY? its free money... or they will and not give it a whip which imo this game NEEDS

i dont know how many times this guy needs ro say no before people will stop asking for this.. didnt he quite literally say "no blitzball in ffxiv ever" at the london fanfest?

I mean aside from whatever logic you might have on this, why do you think that your personal preference should stand above whatever SE does? Just curious.

Maybe not as a mini-game, sure. But as a job class, especially after seeing Gunbreaker and Viper, it seems quite fair to wonder if it will happen at some point. Especially given how popular FFX and the concept of blitzball is.

Personally, I think an "athlete" job would be very distinct design space that we are missing from the roster. And I also think that it skews just enough into silly/performative to be a good candidate for a limited job, the same as Blue Mage is a thespian.
