Things you wish Island Sanctuary to have before 7.1

I read that Island Sanctuary will receive a final update in 7.0, and 7.1 onward will focus on another life-style content.


Before the plug is pulled, here are the dearest things that I wish to see:


1) The ability to put mount free-roaming on the island. Like, many players have their collections of ponies/doggies/birdies..., which would be cool to see them roaming around. Or at least I can have several Magitek Reapers of different colors blazing, i mean, grazing the grass.


2) The ability to put duplicate the same minions. I want an island filled with foxes and tanuki only. Or perhaps a football team of red vs blue Alphinaud.


3) The ability to duplicate free-roaming mount too, if the 1) is added.

Factory and granary "buildings" that look like wild vegetation, returning the island to a natural-looking state.

A ground type that returns to "grassy ground" but with paths built into it connecting the buildings.

The option to send all the mammets away elsewhere and have the island to yourself.

Also, not directly related to the island, but more large outdoor furniture pieces that fill a large piece of space on the island, especially some large garden plots. They're not designed to fill the amount of space we have.

I'll settle for an underground factory design where we can shut them all in and lock them there, then never have to deal with them again. Especially the furball. After we've stolen its outfit, of course.

(Someone on Reddit was asking who we were going to have to kill to get the cute cat outfit, and I can only wish.)

Instanced Housing.

The ability to remove all Mammets.

The ability to rotate structures, not just move them.
Some form of instanced housing. (This is probably the only thing that will keep this feature alive going forward. It's not really a request anymore, it's more of an expectation)
More interactions with the animals in your pasture.
The pasture allotment to have one of each animal. I wanna catch em all!
Make sprint last 1 minutes instead of 20 seconds.
Make the handrails not connected to the sidewalk/pathway glamour selection.
The ability to move mammets/reassign their standing positions.
Let me put stuff ON THE BEACH!!!
A summoning bell either on the Island or at Moraby Drydocks.

Give us a plot to build and customize a house at the final level. Go through some gathering and crafting to get some optional exterior designs just like we did with the other buildings, but the inside can be decorated like any other house in the game. That way people can have an outlet for their creativity, and a whole island/yard to look at. I think its worth regardless if the island looks the same (Housing wards look the same.) as everyone else, and its limited to visiting. It suits for a solo experience since Island Sanctuary is mainly a solo experience zone.

Another thing I want is a total redo of the farming system. Create separate pens and facilities that actually work for different types of creatures instead of dumping them all in an empty paddock.

Maybe even let us "tame" creatures and leave them in the wild, then revisit them to collect items later. Perhaps taming the rare creatures means you can find them any time instead of waiting for the specific weather.

Honestly yeah, the lack of instanced housing in EW wasn't totally unexpected but to learn that island sanctuary is basically done as a concept was a real pity. From the front yard stuff they did, it kind of looked like they were building up to an instanced housing idea. Guess not, though. Other things they could've added would've included:
- more customizable individual islands, i.e. everyone having the exact same layout is really bland
- ability to gather on your friends' islands and maybe even help them progress or something, idk

honestly that's all i can think of, this content felt like the devs were just trying to copy animal crossing and then failed to realize why animal crossing was actually good. the best thing to come out of it was proof of concept that we can have instanced furniture setups kinda work in this game.

An actual housing plot either (small/medium/large) at this point. (either generate like 2-3 of those plot placards and let people pick there spot)

Ability to remove the mammets

Option to add the mounts like the minions for free roam

Slap some gil as a reward so folks can get some steady income for keeping up with beyond 7.0. Easiest way going about would be just adding those allagan pieces to token exchange, cap it weekly if they dont want to get it out if hand. But yeah something like could work instead of it being outright dead by 7.0 since it seems they plan on abandoning it for something else...

honestly.. imo they cant fix is anymore to be more like well an island.. theyde need to do some serious rework

The housing system is largely in a good place capacity-wise (not being able to get a Large, or a house on Balmung, doesn't constitute a 'housing crisis'), so an instanced house wouldn't really be worth it tbh. I wouldn't object to it, but I won't be disappointed if it isn't there.

That being said though, I suspect the new feature they're introducing in 6.5 for level-cap players will be the long-term fixture. Commissions of Island Sanctuary items in exchange for some form of currency. Probably cowries, but it could be gil or tomes if they wanted.

Some sort of gameplay loop that is more than just "earn cowries".

Where did you hear this? My understanding is the final update will be in 6.5x and there will be no further updates to it unless there is demand for it.

Unlikely. Island Sanctuary released in 6.2 so it will most likely be 7.2.

I think it's too late. Whatever final changes are coming, they are already completed. 6.5 is literally next week. They could make changes in 7.x if players demand it enough, but otherwise I don't recommend expecting it.

For proof of this: Eureka never got updated after 4.x. Bozja never got updated after 5.x. Ishgard Restoration never got updated after 5.x.

They did update Diadem after 3.x but this was because it was failed content and they were determined for it not to be and had ideas to fix it.

The change that should happen is being able to place houses and indoor furnishings to finally solve the housing problem. If they have trouble with capacity they could make use of these new cloud servers they got.

I didn't know people were still enjoying island sanctuary.

The ability to pick and choose what kind of ground type each "plot" uses. Right now the glamour system is made so that the entire sanctuary uses a single, unified ground type (grass, pathway, dirt). It makes for really limited customization (I mean in general, everything is limited in island sanctuary save for outdoor furnishings), but sometimes I wish I would have grass plots in some areas while others have the default paths. Maybe I want to use some plant outdoor furnishings in some areas, but it looks off being placed on concrete. If I swap to grass, the whole sanctuary now has to use grass just to accommodate one aesthetic choice. The same goes for ramps/stairs.

TBH I don't care all that much about Island Sanctuary, but this always seemed like a missed opportunity for customization that prevents me from wanting to even bother decorating.

well the another life-style content is mostly likely island sanctuary 2.0 and they will just prolly have us get a new island in the new world and start it over.

The option to hollow out the mountain to create your own secret hidden lair...

Because someone has to place the world in danger... it might as well be me... >.>

- Alphabetical order when setting the workshop schedule.
- Tool upgrades or buffs (maybe use up those green coins) that increase the number of items gathered by 2-3x.
- If not the above then a special granary where we can assign a mammet to target a specific item and it gathers a ton of just that item.
- Solo/Multi-player minigames. ex: Mammet hunt where you have a time limit to finding the mammet, critter catcher where you have to catch as many of a specified creature as you can within a time limit or maybe a large stone tic tac toe landmark.
- Gallery and aquarium landmarks where you can insert fish you've caught or sightseeing pictures.

I’d kinda like more ways to interact with the animals you’ve caught than just the usual feeding and gathering. It feels like they just kinda stand there, waiting around, never actually doing much of anything. Though I guess that’s true of any animal lol; and it’s not like we’re running a petting zoo.

I feel like the cozy cabin could be…cozy-er lol. It all feels too open and exposed to me, when they could’ve used like big windows or something to keep the ‘open’ feel. It just feels like everytime I walk onto the second floor a bloody storm hits and it’s like ‘well, I don’t imagine this would be an enjoyable place to spend the night’ lol

I’d want instanced housing, but on the big island just off the coast (see the Island Homestead thread in the housing forum for details), rather than where the Cozy Cabin is currently located. No one wants to live with mammets, or have a workshop or granary in their front yard! You should also be able to choose the setting… they could either do generic residential district backgrounds, or use the different island areas to give some variety of scenery for those who don’t like a total tropical feel. For example, Wild Woods to look more like a foresty, LB type area, Bending Beaches for a Mist feel or even Crumbling Caverns for an underground plot! That would be amazing, especially if they make that water feature part of the setting!

Failing that, the option to decorate the interior of the Cozy Cabin, or at least be able to dye the curtains, rugs and furniture already there. Exterior dye would be nice too. And as others have said, the ability to rotate buildings.

Definitely want enough pasture space to hold one of every animal, plus their rare forms. If they want to keep it so only 20 of them give leavings and I have to pick which ones, that’s ok. But I hate having to release animals in order to get the new ones.

Option to remove mammets or glam them into something else… or at the very least, make them disappear when you choose “Self Only” in gpose! Because they don’t!

Probably not going to happen, but I’d like a boat to go sailing around the island. :)

Instanced housing always felt like the natural progression island sanctuary was eventually going to take.

I doubt they would reduce it to that degree, but I definitely hope the grind will get reduced by a fair amount once it stops being current content. There are currently points where you have to go for like a week just waiting for the timegated systems to earn enough EXP to progress.

I'm a bit curious how the player base would feel about the grind if it didn't change but instanced housing was added as the the final reward from it for the expansion.

I've said elsewhere, and will say again: the process of building up your island ruins it as a desirable housing location.

If it was just your house on a tropical island, or your house on a quiet farm? Maybe.

But not after the only way to level up the island is to literally level out all the wilderness into flat ground and then cover it with factories.

1) Ability to remove landmarks and utilize their footprint as empty space to place furnishings. I do not care about the massive clock tower, but I wouldn’t mind making a little marketplace.

2) Full on diadem level revamp. Not gonna happen… Total swing and a miss to not just have us gather on actual gathering jobs or otherwise utilize existing systems. It need not have been level dependent.

2b) also a revamp. No mammets, at all. Ever. We have so many NPCs that would have helped in this endeavor. So many refugees etc. so many NPCs we have t seen in forever that would be nice to see how they are doing or how we can help elevate them out of their terrible situation. I am not a fan of this industrialization of an island paradise.

One more simple addition that I want: the ability to immediately copy-paste a workshop schedule over to another workshop on the same day, without having to fiddle around with saving presets, scrolling through the preset list and then clearing them out again.

Edit: Looks like we're actually getting this in 6.5.

Re-wild the island!!

Looks like we’re getting rotation for landmarks! :D And the copy/paste on the workshops will be nice. I’ll be interested to see what the new areas look like…
