・August 2012 –2.0 marketing campaign begins (including trailer release)
I'm assuming that's when website will be out also
Time management will be improved in 2.0
Is that supposed to be an insult, because everything Valve releases is amazing.
You really don't know what "soon" means for SE
You see, Valve time makes sense because they don't want to "break promises"...SE time and Valve time can't be compared.
SE Time -
-Early Month: 1st - 12th
-Mid Month: 14-24th
-End of Month: 27-31st if applicable, carry over to first week of next month
-Soon - Example: "Summoners will get 2 new avatars soon ~ 2006."
Fast forward to 2009
"Introducing Alexander and Odin!
Fast forward 3 months
"Ok now you guys can get it!"
SE's definition of "soon" is anywhere from 2 hours to 4 years. Valve time is just 'when it's ready' lol.
I always wonder why people feel the urge to post threads like this...
What's disappointing is during the Eorzeapedia podcast they had mentioned the site was indeed coming before August, but at this point I don't know how true that is.
there's an entire month before august XD while you can aurgue isn't "shortly after E3", there's still time.
nor i feel the urgency thou
Some along these lines, I hear once in nearly every thread! ^.^Quote:

Placing my bets on Japan Expo day.
I bet it's going to be like www.finalfantasyxiv.com without information on anything. Even though he said that information will likely be a rehash of what current FFXIV players know..you'd think they'd have just updated that site instead.
I wish I could borrow money from people and just say I'll give it back "soon".
hehehehe
Same week Dark Knight Rises hits theaters, calling it now >_>
Thank god it's 2.0 and not 3.0.
Valve can't count to 3.
But SE can't read calendars.
Their employee parties must be a blast.
Soon doesn't equal exact date... It will come when it will come. I'm looking forward to it as well but arguing and moaning about it isn't going to get the site here any faster than they want it to come. So relax chillax have fun, we kn ow 2.0 beta is coming at end of September Early October.. so to me that's more to get excited for then some little site.
Except here they didnt just say soon.
They said soon after E3.
I dont know anyone who assumed anything above 2 weeks
exactly what im thinking, they said soon after E3. which generally we all can agree on is about maybe 2-3 weeks range( all perosnal ideas and timeline of the word soon put aside.)
even when they say the time for a patch. to me early in the month is the first week, mid month is secondweek , late in the month is third week and end of the month is last week. not this bull shit were the 15th is early! i along with many others would hate for it to be released with 1.23 since thier patches are always delayed! and thats a ways off.
If the trailer shows any of the 7th Umbral Event, then it cannot be released until after 1.23 when all the stuff starts happening. That's how I try to look at it anyways.
Clearly the trailer has Dalamud, Odin and some other interesting stuff relating to things that are likely to happen in or around 1.23.
haven't you read the time schedule till 2.0. release?
SE is in time with that plan..
which means, they will start with the campaign in august after the release of 1.23...
this includes trailer, web page etc.
Roadmap - time schedule
why do they start the campaign after the release of version 1.23? because no one would pay attention on 1.23 when they see new trailers of 2.0.
Even then they could have non-spoiler related trailers, like showing off Character Creations..the improved (but WIP) systems like for crafting and gathering and so on.
Hell they could even have screencaps like they used to do with expansion sites like:
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/pro.../tavnazia.html
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/pro...d/riverne.html
So I don't think it need to immediately coincide with 7th umbral era events, since they can easily show off "spoiler" stuff without giving away anything, since the landmass will greatly change due to it sure...but they can still show places off since it's not like people who aren't playing XIV will know what's going on and exactly why the world is different now since for all they know SE could have just simply redesigned the world.
I have, however they stated that the website itself would go up soon after E3..going up in August isn't "soon after" or "very soon" from last week's letter. The push for 2.0 is set to begin in August, this is true but the initial website was supposed to go up prior to it. That's when they were releasing the trailer and marketing push (August.)
no one would show any interests in 1.23 then!
"ah who cares about 1.23.. i saw that freaking awesome 2.0. gameplay trailers. i want to play that.. i will close my account till then."
or what the hell fucking else.
its the time schedule, that they start with the campaign after 1.23. and so it will be..
its boring for us, but i can understand this move.
well its your interpretation. soon for me can also mean 1-2 months.
every patch was almost within the time schedule so i dont think that the campaign will differ from that anyways. and what does a homepage bring anything for you, if it does not contain any new gameplay footage.. good there is a homepage named "Final Fantasy 14 2.0." woohoo... doesnt bring me anything-
i also want to see more new things from 2.0. but on the other side i accepted that fact that they will start it in august.
and on the other side there is a long time also between august and the final release of 2.0. in early of 2013 so there is really no need for starting the campaign now!.
I think that after seen the screenshots from 2.0 more people are coming to get the legacy deal and not just because they really want to play.
