Probably the biggest QoL change that was needed for the longest time. Hopefully this works as intended.

Next, I want them to adjust how low each instance's ilevel is capped. Maybe 80 for Labyrinth, 100 for Syrcus, 120 for World of Darkness. Maybe add ten ilevels to each if people complain too much.
no its not, there are still two other reasons why we get ct so often.... and one of them isnt correctable.
i like the change though
Man, I dont post images often but what exactly am I doing wrong, since I tried to post the link to the screenshot showcasing the ilv roulette alliance raid change.
I have the link from imgur and it should be a direct one. Isnt the tag supposed to be ?
You need the file extension. Otherwise it's a link to a webpage with that image.
Direct link not image link

That's not a link to the source, that's a link to a page on imgur where you can view the image.
the source is what you get when you right click the image and click either "copy image link" or "open image in new tab" and copy that.
For imgur it'll always ahve "i." before imgur.com
Very, very good change, though I do think is the larger issue is that it is used for the relic for ShB, and not only that is mandatory for MSQ, which I think are big issues in and of itself.
You're linking to the website, not the image - If you want to link to an image, right-click on it, and then 'copy image address'
You underestimate the power of the trolls.
They never unlocked Orobone, Sky Pirates, or Nier.
It will still, always, be crystal tower.
There's a few ways. Mentor roulette has code that requires you to run the dungeons to unlock it. Alliance Raid Roulette could take the same code and require that you've done the dungeons up to the ilvl as you progress or you can't que in it.
Thats a nice change an all. But they need to desperately increase the rewards. The amount of time you are in there does not provide adequate rewards for the content unless you get a current expansion alliance raid.
It's a couple of issues it'll still be prevalent
A) The only MSQ required Alliance Raid. Heck, my last 9 out of 10 CT's had a first timer.
B) With XBox'ers coming onboard with 6.5, that means a whole slew of CT first timers.
Bonus C) Making the Shadowbringers Relic as Kaurhz brought up be a *guaranteed* drop from CT was a big ooof too. Bad enough they made CT mandatory for MSQ, then they made CT the more reliable way for that relic step.
<monkey's paw spasms wildly>
Now all you get are CT, but somehow, everyone's ilevel synced so people have to do actual mechanics. Each run takes 2 hours to complete.
EDIT:
Not sure that works. Mentor requirements don't change as you level, they change as patches are released (expansions, actually, I think?). So the requirement is static, it just changes over time, like Expert.
I'm not sure the game code supports having a roulette system that changes as you level...
I suppose it might, given the way they worded this, but it's probably based on X0 levels, not leveling in a more general sense. Might be doable, but...who knows? It also runs the problem of people using it to level suddenly being unable to use them to level further.
idk, the better change would have been an ilvl/Boss HP adjustment so all alliances take roughly the same time but whatever works I guess?
we did the lvl 50 raids on minilvl the other day and we havent seen the platforms on fire. and no it wasnt an alliance full with only good players
This is where we have to acknowledge that ilvl isnt the only thing tearing old content apart. We're also facing the entire potency creep all the way back from ARR. This is why unreal trials are being created. Min ilvl is not nearly the same as the original balancing.
If anyone really thinks just because a tech isn't in the game yet like item level requirement changing based on your level, you'll be in for a rude awakening because this is most likely just a simple flag or a switch case they need to implement in some capacity for the duty roulette listing.
Example
The logic is simple to code. At most what was a bit difficult to implement is to poll the individual character data and implement that value correctly.Quote:
value: char.level
if char.level == 90: <insert item level requirement for Lv90, insert raid pool for lv90-50>
if char.level <= 89: <insert item level requirement for lv80, insert raid pool for lv80-50>
if char.level <= 79: <insert item level requirement for lv70, insert raid pool for lv70-50>
if char.level <= 69: <insert item level requirement for lv60, insert raid pool for lv60-50>
if char.level <= 59: <insert item level requirement for lv50, insert raid pool for lv50>
The reason they never did is for many other negative things, they pray that we DON'T abuse certain systems - but we did so this is the result, regardless what we think of the rewards.
It's a good change for sure, but don't be surprised when Crystal Tower remains very commonplace in roulette. People think of this as a "problem" that needs to be solved, but it's just a fact of life.
I DEFINITELY want them to rebalance item level scaling, not just for CT but perhaps other raids as well. Aglaia comes first and foremost in my mind. The fights are over before you even get to the tricky mechanics or the cool bits. Being able to entirely skip the "balance" phase at the end just seems wrong.
Will this actually change anything? Item level is only one of a myriad of issues surrounding CT.
The pool of players who can manipulate the level range of Alliance Raid roulette and thus reduce the amount of players available for higher level alliance raids massively shrinks with this change.
Crystal Tower still will suffer from potency creep though, but given their past works with ARR + HW value adjustments from the dungeons it isn't impossible for them to rescale the Crystal Tower series to be up to today's potency standards.
It's sure not dead on my server. I just got it yesterday and today for my alliance roulette. Seems like 90% of the time I get it for my alliance roulette. Pretty sure why I get it from all the new players needing it for their main story quest.
for now... after the change it will go down to 80%
I got labyrinth of the ancients five times in a row now, so I am very happy for this change.
I don't care if it's the fastest/easiest raid, I just want variety so I can enjoy myself more.
I refuse to do alliance roulette until this issue is properly addressed
Would be nice if this actually fixed alliance raid. We'll see. I have my doubts.
I'm going to laugh my @$$ off when it's still CT for at least 75% of runs. All it takes to drag 23 other people into those instances is:
- 1 person under lvl 60 queuing into allianace roulette to spawn a CT raid
- 1 new player to spawn a CT raid
- 1 person manually queueing for a CT raid for relic mats.
One of the main culprits for boring CT runs is how we blow through them. They need a much stricter ilvl sync so we see mechanics.
I'm talking ilvl 50-75, not the 130 we are currently at.
I will just stop doing alliance roulette. It isn't worth it to me unless I can finish it in 15 minutes or less, being stuck in Orbonne for 45 minutes does not sound like a good time. I think many of us who strip down to just get CT won't do alliance raid at all anymore, so enjoy those queues :)
With less CT and more of anything else on the menu we will enjoy them, thank you very much. And thank you also for admitting other raids do in fact pop in the roulette when not using the item level cheese, as opposed to what some posters in full gaslighting mode want us to believe.
You're forgetting the other part that makes CT runs so boring, our level 50 job kits are a joke nowadays.
It doesn't matter if I see 2 different mechanics on each boss or 10 when all I'm doing the entire fight is spam 1-2-3 and occasionally the single spender most have.
When will this take effect? Or has it already been implemented?
