Stop it: Fallout 76 tried to do this too

Remember the christmas emote bundle that was released on fallout 76 already 50% discounted?
Yeah they quickly reverted that because it is illegal in many countries

The Garlond GS-IL and the new emote have been released already discounted. They were never available before and they never were on sale for their full price.

You cna report this to your country's consumer protection association.

What are you going on about? You can release a product at a promotional discounted price. Happens all the time in the retail world. You've no idea what you're talking about and this is not at all like what happened with Fallout 76.

I don't know the law in every country but usually this only applies to items that were never or will never go back to the listed full price, or falsely listing the full price as a discount.

These items are not available for a limited time and are permanent mogstation additions and will go back to the non-discounted price after the sale, I don't think that's illegal anywhere.

They are overpriced as hell like everything in the store, but no it's not the same situation a FO76 had

It's illegal in the UK.

You can't release a product and say that it is on sale if it has never been sold anywhere else at the quoted 'lower' price.

It's illegal in the UK. You can't claim an item is on sale unless it has been sold at the original price at least once.

The OP didn't specify a country and I am not in the UK myself, but after having a quick look all I could find was something saying if you're offering something with a discount you have to compare it to the price it was the previous 28 consecutive days, and not the price it may have been 6 months ago. But it also added this, which seems most fitting in this case:

Edit: I've also received plenty of emails from gaming retailers over the years about discounted pre-orders for new games, so either they're all illegal and they're really bold about it or it's different for digital products / the introductory offer prices rules are in fact different.

You have to clearly label it as an introductory offer, though. Not a 'sale'.

The game thing is fine. You can offer discounted prices prior to launch. You have to mark it clearly, however.

Then by all means report it.

They did edit the listing today adding "This item was released to commemorate the 2023-2024 Fan Festival events. (* Updated 7/26/2023.)", I don't know if that's a way for them to get around it.
