I wondered why they posted this trailer yesterday. Do you think they are planing to continue Nier content in FFXIV? And would you like it?
I personally wold like it. :)

The worst alliance raid storyline, bar none? Why would you like it lmao. The entire thing made zero sense.
It's okay if you don't liked it.
But I liked the story of the little Lalafells and the smal extension for 2B and 9S. I liked the fights, the music and the glam.
And this story is not impossible in the FFXIV universe. They came from another dimension/planet? We don't know exactly. But it's possible.
My main question is just, what do you guys think, why they posted this trailer yesterday? P:
I wish but it's probably not going 2B a thing, would be a good material for variant dungeon though.
Wonder if theyll add ffxiv stuff to the anime then, lol
No, we've already been exposed to Yoko Taro's incredibly brilliant and very respectful treatment of the FFXIV lore corpus, I'd rather have an even greater variety of content squeezed dry with commercialisation tie-in value like extracting the last drops of blood from a withering turnip.
Just think, as for the 7.0 Raid storyline, I can only hope it involves a crossover with Forspoken. I can't wait for the cutscenes with Frey after we discover a portal to Tathia inside the extra secret Labyrinthos II underneath Labyrinthos!
Of course, the Alliance Raid storyline should involve an amnesiac Clive as he discovers where the missing Leviathan went, and follows it to Eorzea! Hijinx ensue, of course, when the Sahagin become confused about which one to worship, and then Trachtoum becomes his Dominant! Ha ha! Zany!
And I hope one of the 7.0 Tribe Quest series is to help Ash Ketchum collect Pokémon that have crossed time and space into the fields of Meracydia. It begins with a plucky and sassy little Dragonet that someone tried to catch in a Pokéball, who has to impatiently explain to mere Humans that he is actually 300 years old, and a very smart dragon, not a Pokémon! Ha ha ha! Charming!
But honestly I think there's even more untapped potential in tying the MSQ itself into a cross-promotion! Just imagine if Krile and G'raha Tia got to team up with Donald Duck, Buzz Lightyear, Tony Stark, Bart Simpson, and Stitch in a quest to save the Meracydians from Xehanort, who was brought to Etheirys through a rift created by Zeromus! Oh my, the lore strands could be so deep, so exciting, my skin is sizzling!
This. I like Nier, I like Automata, I like Reincarnation even. But Dark Apocalypse was absolute trash, story-wise. The raid didn't fit in with the world at all, the story was just more Taro self-appreciation and 0 respect or involvement of FF itself, we didn't even get any weapons or further good glam options (until the very last raid, but even then they could do so much more with Nier/Drakengard). So no. Please, no. I am intensely CONCERNED seeing this trailer suddenly re-uploaded...
Imagine having to advertise content from a earlier expansion because your current expansion is so barebones....
Initially I really liked the goofy dwarves part of the story but that kinda went nowhere really quickly. Not even the pessimist squad got a satisfying ending for all of them, it just fizzled out in the beyond strange weekly quest setup. Lots of potential went unused imo both in terms of story and in terms of alliance raid design.
While the story was indeed garbage, the NieR raid at least had interesting mechanics and better gameplay than the current alliance raid, unless you count troll scale alliance wipes as “interesting”.
The biggest sin of the NieR raid was 2B bottoms sterilizing glamour creativity.
100% agree with Skiros here. We don't need more of Yoko Taro's phoned in garbage. He completely disrespected XIV with what he delivered story wise. He can stay far away. The combat developers can come back (so long as they keep those red balls away). Mechanics were fun.
Much as I enjoyed the Nier raids, it has no place as an actual expansion, and I sincerely hope it has no relevance like the 1.0 trailer did.
Most people I met in game liked the Nier stuff.
Thanks for all your responses. :)
Nier raid best raid
The actual fights and bosses are great, and probably the only places in the game with interesting trash mobs.
Wasn't invested in the story at all though, but I haven't cared about any of the alliance raid stories anyway apart from the current one.
The story was a mess, but the raids had some good fights and nice glams.
But please, no more.
I see no surprise in many people disliking Nier raids. Yoko Taro deliver an experience that is similar to Serial Experiments Lain, Ergo Proxy, Steins Gate and Evangelion. You may like anime but you won't always like psychedelic animes like those.
Just as a matter of curiosity, he first produced Drakengard 1 and took some time off. Later on he made Drakengard 2 as spin-off. Finally, he decided what he wanted to do with Drakengard 1 and made it in Drakengard 3. Later on, he produced Nier universe to describe a futuristic consequences of Drakengard events. From Drakengard 1 to Nier Automata, he took almost 18 years. Drakengard was a initial failure just like FFXIV. Reviews rated it as 5. Nier games are 8 or 9. The mad man took almost 20 years to reach the success that he always wanted and the philosophy behind his stories is great, something between ShB and EW.
Nier/Drakengard/Yoko Taro fans in general. It was a commonality I saw here, on Twitter, on Reddit, on other social media sites, etc. Great glams and mechanics. Really bad story even for Yoko Taro and horrible integration (mostly lack thereof) into XIV's world.
I mean there are some who love it all but I've seen a lot more that want the aesthetic but not actually touching the content anymore. So things like adding new mounts/minions/glams as rewards for non-Nier-story-focused content is fine.
I just felt completely lost with Nier's raids. I do not know anything about Nier aside what was presented in this game, but my take-away was entirely confused. I do not get what happened in that story at all.
If they did another collab raid series i would rather they do a FFXI or other final fantasy based one instead of another Nier series.
I would actually like that they do Original things based in the already set up world of Hydaelyn/Etheirys.
The main thing that seemed like the problem to me is that, well, take the Monster Hunter crossover we'd gotten in Stormblood. We get a quest about a strange monster appearing in the Azim Steppe. It turns out it's Rathalos. We fight the Rathalos in a Trial that adapts some Monster Hunter mechanics to FFXIV. Quest over.
And that's exactly what the YoRHa raids are, only this crossover was stretched out over the course of three 24-man Raids and 5 patches worth of quests. And while the Rathalos Trial was an extra, the YoRHa raids implicitly came at the expense of any other story and setting they could've used. Norvrandt is the same continent as Eorzea. There was plenty of space for things we couldn't explore in the MSQ. To take all that possibility and reduce it to the most generic Save the World plot starring assets ripped wholesale from another of their titles is just... not lazy, but dull.
The dwarves were the highlight of the whole thing, both because they were at least FFXIV's own take on something and because they're the only place the writing team made any effort at all.
... All this said, I don't mean to shit on anyone who happened to like the YoRHa raids. But I sincerely hope nothing comes of this.
Honestly. As long as we don't have another area in the same aesthetic as the final tier of the last YoRHa raid I'd be fine with it. Damn near everything glowing white was a literal eyesore from strain.
I hope they add cute glams and hairs with it!! Please give me this outfit and hair pleeeease i would never complain about anything ever again: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ni...20170423025735
The story's great once you grasp the shape of it, but it's way too subtle for this game, way too subtle for this community, and probably way too subtle for its own good in general. It really benefits from a second viewing, and most people are never going to go through that.
There's also something to be said for it being hung on the Nier name and presentation, yet the Nier bits are the least important part of it.
