Krile in 7.0

So they said she's going to feature more prominently, does that imply she might get an Alphie/Alis/Urianger/Thancred Job change?

At first, I thought yes. I was thinking she'd be one of the new Jobs, probably a Caster...but then it got me thinking, Krile's always been a Healer, something that a point is even made of when talking about her and combat situations. And I can't imagine them adding a new Healer right after SGE and also with the AST rework "like a new Job" type thing possibly going on as well.

...so now I'm not so sure.

What do you guys think?

Will Krile be a new Job in 7.0? If so, wouldn't it be a bit odd for her to be something that ISN'T a Healer? And if so...wouldn't that imply she WON'T be a new Job?

...or maybe she'll finally find a WHM Job stone somewhere and stop being a CNJ?

She's barely had a chance to be a conjurer, so I don't think changing to a different healer would achieve much unless there's a new one to showcase.

Becoming a caster might fit with her wanting to be more useful in battle.

I don't see a need for class changes, just get rid of that silly cosplay hoodie

She'll get hit with a particularly strong Mini curse early on when the Scions show up to investigate whatever the hook is, and spend the entire MSQ riding around in your pocket giving you advice.

I believe she will Job Change. She is the Only Scion now who hasn't had a Job Change (I guess unless you count Estinien. But I guess Ill say Archon)
And maybe she will be the Showcase for the New Job, like how Thancred was a Gunbreaker, alphinaud is a Sage, and alisaie was a Redmage.
And she seems like a Mage, so it would be a Magical DPS.

Yes! I am here for this!

Could see a new healer, if we are getting 2 new jobs, theyll likely not do 2 dps for a variety of issues, so itll be dps n healer or dps n tank.

Wasn't Y'shtola shown originally as a healer/conjurer? Now she's a sorcerer (who you can switch between sorcerer dps and conjurer healer for trusts). I don't think it's a stretch for Krile to go from "I've barely had my healing abilities shown at all" to a new job.

Stormblood was two dps.

One of the most common theories is it'll be magical dps and another scouting dps.

Didn't they already say they wouldn't do another double dps expansion but always have a tank/healer in the mix?

In any case that would be the smart thing to do. You don't want to shift the balance even further when the roles that make up half of the team only have 8/19 jobs currently. Having tank/dps followed by healer/dps each expansion would be sustainable.

Probably would be smarter sure, but I don't know if Square is capable of that at this point. Apparently they're already at a block for how to make more healers... honestly we'll probably just get one job per expansion now.

Main character Scion*

We have minor scions that we don't adventure with that still have the same jobs they've had since ARR. If you include Lyse, then she'd also be the exception so far too.

I could see her going to a new caster Job

I think Krile will be going caster for sure.

She didnt go through a Job Change tho, she was always a Monk....or Pugilist.
The idea is that the mentioned characters went through an Evolution, and showcased the New Jobs.
I think to a Degree Thancred also did Rouge / Ninja.

Thancred started as a gladiator wielding a dagger, because rogue/ninja didn't exist yet. Then when those were added, he picked up a second dagger. He kept up with that until Shadowbringers, where he became a gunbreaker, although he still uses some ninja tricks (bring him to Dohn Mheg and he'll use Shukuchi to skip the tightrope segment of the final boss.....which players can't do, but hey).

Is she REALLY a Scion though?
I like to joke about that because she was under a false name and was only there because of Papolymo.

Regardless of name or why she was there, Yda/Lyse was recognized as a Scion by the rest of the group, until she left after Stormblood to help in Ala Mhigo.

Yeah, almost every NPC has a secret trick that we don't have access to. Nero use some crazy skills on the last boss of Role Quest. Fourchenault has a beautiful group mitigation as Sage.

Doesn't he just jump or use his gap closer from the halfway point? (Which players still can't do...)

It's Urianger who just teleports the whole way across with a skill AST doesn't even have.

Shb gave us a tank (Gunblade) and a physical range (Dancer).
With Endwalker we got a healer (Sage) and a melee dps (Reaper).
So I think 7.0 could be a new tank and a ranged mage dps.

So maybe Krile could become some kind of ranged dps (mage). : 3

My opinion, I do not think Krile will get a job change. I think she will be replacing Alphinaud as the trust healer for a bit in the MSQ, since at this time we do not know the status of how far along the Twins are with helping out in Garlemald, and that the contractor is specifically looking for Archons and those of neutrality (Alphinaud and Alisaie have yet to get their mark,and thus the reason why they have not received a message as far as we know).

While it is not impossible for her to job change, it would technically go against her character, for example a quote from the Unending Codex: "Displaying a remarkable aptitude in the mystic arts, Krile attended the Studium in Sharlayan, joining the Faculty of the Arcane and becoming highly skilled in healing and curing magicks" For her to technically stray from her "healer" status something drastic must occur to her. Thus, if going off the theory of dropping the Twins for any reason, a dps slot for trusts would be open for any new character they wanted to add into the story in 7.0.

For starters, I'm kind of expecting (and dreading a little bit) that Zero will be one of our new trust DPS NPCs.

Secondly, while unlikely, Square COULD just surprise us all and give her a custom job that isn't the new job. Y'shtola got a custom job, Alphinaud's old job was a custom one, simpboi has a custom one. They could just make her into some sort of healer/dps hybrid that focuses on healing (so basically... glare spam - the NPC, which she already is...). It'd be completely pointless but it'd be a funny surprise.

FFV's Krile has some fairly excellent alternative outfits outside of the (Devout-inspired WHM set currently used in FFXIV) that they could bring in with a job change. Geomancer is a pajama set, Beastmaster is a sheep suit, and Berserker is a tiger suit. If they really wanted to tease the different options, they could have some fun with this next patch. It'll likely end up being something original (perhaps Void Mage) anyways.

Alpharius: useless, accidentally got everyone exiled for an expansion and the following expansion was basically his fault too.
Uruanger: traitor half the time, pretty cool otherwise.
Edda: her fiancé died and she went round the bend.
Canny senna: definitely the worst of the are city leaders.
Y’shtola: gave healer up when they ruined them in shb

There’s a clear precedent that healers aren’t allowed to be good in the story. Thus to maintain continuity with both the other krile and this one, swapping to warrior (berserker) would be a suitable option, as well as tying into her stated desire in the endwalker story to be useful. I don’t think it’s necessarily fair that the story has such a dim view of healers but it is what it is.

Though your comment regarding Kan-E-Senna made me smile, I wouldn't say she's the worst city leader.

I mean, she was at Battle of Carteneau and whilst there is no evidence that she fought there, I suspect she would've joined the other leaders in doing so if it had come to it. And whilst she is clearly not as combative as the others, she fought in the Siege of Ala Mhigo, demonstrating that that she is more than 'just' a healer.

And outside of that? Of the three Beast Tribes in Gridania, they are only at war with one, and they leave the ones who follow the laws of the forest alone
When the Garleans became more of a threat she restarted the Eorzean Alliance to combat them.
She was invaluable in the Churning Mists, as she knew how to coax the Moogles out, what gifts to give, and even humored them in their chores.
Gridania didn't experience political upheavals like Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa.
She wisely knew to open Gridania up to Adventurers to protect the Wood and help it prosper.

I mean, I'll concede that she has it easier than the other city leaders since Gridania lacks the likes of refugees to strain resources, pirates and/or backstabbing profiteers, and rather only really has nature related shenanigans, tree-hugging Mages and some irritable Archers and Lancers - but I don't think she's a bad leader.

I don’t think carteneau can be used given merlwyb and raubahn were also present in their capacities as head of the maelstrom and immortal flames respectively. Similarly for ala mhigo.

Regarding the beast tribes: gridania is very much at war with the ixals to the point it’s a focus of bard and carpenter quest lines, several fates, that extended gold quest line from camp dragonhead and I think it also comes up in the msq unless pruned. They aren’t at war with the cabbages, but that is mainly thanks to a combination of ramuh being pretty laid back and siding with an untempered faction around level 20. The moogles (assuming they’re the 3rd) are another elusive race, and also followers of the elementals? (Been a while) so they start off in a less antagonistic position than the sagahin (competition over land) or amal ja (slavery and border disputes).

I would like to point out that there has been more focus in the story on merlwyb’s attempts to broker peace with the kobolds (5.4) and ul dah’s past with the amal ja (arr beast tribe bloodsworn quest, sil dih variant dungeon) than in gridania. In fact gridania has primarily highlighted racial divisions between them and miqotes, duskwright, ala mhigans and possibly ishgardian elzen but that might have been in the other direction.

She is also beholden to the capricious and temperamental shadowy rulers of gridania, the elementals whose impact seems to be increasingly swept under the rug. Nanamo and merlwyb both seem to be trying to instigate change and improve their city state’s lot - stormblood patches and subsequent interactions with nanamo, pirate reform in 5.4 for merlwyb. Even ishgard has explicitly drastically changed, yet gridania remains saddled with the despotic theocracy.

This is probably because gridania hasn’t received as much focus. When the variant dungeon was announced, it seemed like a good springboard to explore the gridanian culture/history, but alas once more an oriental holiday has scuppered the interesting region. I’m also not especially sure I like the efforts to make the starter cities more palatable or perhaps relatable to the modern audience, the variety of political systems made the world feel more lived in to me.

Thats the real issue with her character, is that she doest DO anything. Urianger started out the same way, he didnt Do Anything and was just kind of there sometimes. Then eventually he Joined the Frey, and now he's awesome.
To a degree, same with Alphinaud and Alisaie...they just...existed. But eventually finally DID something.

The Same can / Should happen to Krile.
