Would you like another Bard song?

Bard feels like a complete job for me, and I have absolutelly no clue of what they would add in 7.0. It's already complicated enough for having every single job mechanic of the game, and adding more stuff would only make it worse, however we can still make it interesing by changing the rotation a little bit. What if every song only lasts 30s, but has 100% chance to grant Repertoire (guaranteeing one every 3 seconds)? And then the fourth song has something to do with dots or procs, who knows. What do you guys think?

I want Bard to stop hogging two different jobs and be split into an instrument wielding support job and a bow wielding ranger-type job. I know this will never happen though and I have to live with the fact I'll never have an actual bow archetype in the game.

Yes! Songs that perform various effects on groups of enemies would be nice! :D

Oh as in a buff. I was thinking as in Performance. I was like "They need to fix guitar". It's not good.

I'd like them to rework the drums in performance mode so they don't sound like shit.

I think the job plays brilliantly right now and doesn't need much of a change. Maybe some potency buff but as a support class, I aint gonna hold my breath on that.

The next capstone skill will be something akin to Barrel Stabilizer. It will add 50 to their song gauge.

The problem SE faces with every expansion is that their aim is to make every job "complete" by the level cap. Then they have to find a way to improve upon it for the NEXT level cap. They usually do this by taking abilities away from the "complete job" and adding something else to make it complete... again. Essentially, every job is temporarily in a good state. The next expansion, it is like they aim to ruin the balance their was only to try to find it once more.

Always wanted an "Encore" skill for Brd. Something that completely resets song cd or something like that, so you can play a song back to back, but guess wouldnt work with Finale now that songs grant specific coda...

I wish bard was similiar to ff11 bard and had multiple instrument types and songs/buffs

Then, once the job is thoroughly bloated with redundant skills and minor abilities you only press once every two minutes, SqE trims a button or two, and the forums explode with complaints that everything is being "dumbed down" (i.e. doesn't feel tedious to play).

I always worry what they'll take away instead of what they'll add nowadays , my bet is they'll gut Sidewinder or Dots altogether. I felt bard was more complete in Shb then it is now and I personally liked it more when songs were only 20 secs . If anything they'll prolly go the Rdm route and just add another layer to Apex/Blast .

Sidewinder and Dots are already gutted.

Dots were used to proc the songs effects but not anymore

Sidewinder did extra Damage per Dot but now it is just an oGCD attack

I stopped playing Bard when they ruined them in EW.

They should bring Sidewinder back man. I don't care that much about Repertoire not being tied by dots, but Sidewinder is so bland and boring as it is now. We already have Bloodletter and Rain of Death and they are way more interesting ogcds, I don't understand why do we need Sidewinder and Empyreal Arrow, they feel like filler abilities.

If I could change anything, I'd make Sidewinder have 45s cooldown and deal damage based on how low the duration of the dots is, while Empyreal Arrow grants Repertoire.
Or I'd make Sidewinder be what it was before but Empyreal Arrow speeds up the dots by triggering their dot damage and decreasing the duration by 3 seconds.

Oh trust me I know ... sigh ... I know .... and by SE logic they play no real role in the overall rotation now so might as well give them the boot altogether. They'll prolly kill both dots and give you 1 ogcd dot akin to paladins goring blade now or ninjas shadow fang in shb just to throw in the burst window .

Those ideas would make me play Bard again.

I hate it that the game has no more risks in terms of playing skillfully, the Sidewinder dealing damage depending on how close the dots are to expiring sounds fun.

Wait bard's dots don't interact with pitch perfect or whatever it was anymore?

Nope. Hasn't since 6.0 dropped.

Was a late addition too since it still did back during the media tour.

Nope, making dots even more pointless.

Keep track on dots was too difficult apparently.

Yeah for the longest time I thought dots still did procs but I noticed I was still getting them when I forgot to refresh my dots once.

Maybe a damage song of some sort. They've kind of relegated songs to just buffs now and the ranged abilities as the damage but attacking something with music would be an interesting aesthetic for a bard. Maybe they can move DoT capability to a continuous song that then has synergy with either another song or ability so it's not just throwing it on and forgetting it.

Bring back Foe's Requiem.

Not sure about song, but an bc ability to spread dots to groups would be great.

Nay lol. Nowadays we can have a song playing with nothing to attack or even stay outside battle and repertoire will still proc.

I miss being able to weave Pitch Perfect 3 times in a row under 10s or spam Rain of Death just because all those multiple dots giving so many repertoire back in ShB.

I can't believe we're at the point where we have to admit that ShB BRD was better. It feels like for every minor improvement EW BRD introduced, it took 10 steps back to immediately make those changes redundant.

Only if it adds mode depth to song usage, but that would also require some revision in how the current songs are used, like not requiring a target.
