...Oh wait, there's more?
Drum rolls please,
*drum roll*
$300 Bahamut statue to be announced during the 14-hour broadcast. Please look forward to it.
Was waiting for this thread to pop up.
I'm honestly disappointed in the amount of in-game stuff happening for the anniversary. Like, go ahead and sell merch and have livestreams and all of that but like....I was expecting more to be given back to the actual community in the game....for free. LOL. Like, am I off base for thinking that?
I'm really hoping that they do something special with the Moogle event and the Rising, otherwise this is gonna put a bad taste in my mouth in terms of using something special like this as purely a means to funnel more money out of people and not a way to give back to the community that's giving them the success they are now.
...and yet, for all these ill mannered and quite frankly, spiteful sneers by our usual suspects, one need not go far to remember that the fanfest tickets were SOLD OUT in less than what was it...ten minutes?
Every single one of them.
For all of the gripes, whines, petulant continual complaints ( "propaganda" - get real ), it would seem that everyone else is looking forward to all of it. Including me.
So theres merch. So? So what?
Name me big events that DIDNT have merch, every single large event I have ever been to had memorabilia for sale. Name me ONE big star that DIDNT have merch on sale at their concerts.
I even still have a program and poster for the Heaven and Hell tour in Sydney. God I loved Dio, that man had a soaring voice. Have merch from David Bowie Serious Moonlight tour.
This is..news to anyone??
Multinational tournaments...ooh yes I would love to see OCE kick some serious tail. All in all, its going to be a kickass anniversary. Cant wait.
The Rising....will be a memorable day. Ten years of continuing success..if I had any regrets, its that i wasnt here earlier.

I'm not necessarily mad at selling merch. Don't get me wrong, I get that it's a smart move business wise to do it in tandem with the anniversary. My issue comes where it feels like more resources are being put towards that instead of actually providing something special for the community in the game itself. If it was more of an even split where there were tons of merch options available irl and also like...tons of events going on in game and free rewards sent out (maybe even a new collab in game), I'd be way more excited than I am. As I said, I'm holding onto a shred of hope that they'll do something special with Moogle and Rising but I can't help but feel like "in-game" should be getting as good of a treatment as irl will be.
Obviously they arent getting more money, they have to pay all those devs working on FF16's PC port now since they are done with the PS5 version
Who knows, maybe once that's done in 2 years they will start working on FFXIV again, woohoo ! But please dont forget to buy mog station mounts and glams !
I'm not a fan of there being yet another hairstyle contest. Many posters have consistently provided feedback in regards to the sort of hairstyles that they'd like to see added to the game along with visual references.
I'd be surprised if it doesn't result in yet another disproportionate focus on feminine and androgynous hairstyles at the cost of those of us who want masculine hairstyles designed with male characters in mind first and foremost.
A lot of people aren't artists in the first place, either so they can't really contribute even if they wanted to.
To say nothing of the fact that Highlander men are still lacking in authentic eyebrows. It's kind of wild how much better the male character design is in FFXVI. Hopefully some of the artists/character designers from that game are brought over to FFXIV in the future.
Liana: no offence but dont be silly.
Marketing would be handling those..thats their job after all. That and their PR / publicity teams.
We may do indeed, what we have here is a roadmap and little else. You know how Yoshi LOVES surprises, he never lets on half of what he has planned. We literally dont know. To be bluntly honest, lets not go assuming the worst this soon? We already play host to a few trolls who are perfectly suited to the role of Mr and Mrs Misery Guts.Quote:

The glass isnt half empty, or full, because we dont know whats in it yet.
Have a little faith.
Do they? The possible PC port is at least two years away if not more, YoshiP already said as much. You have NO idea whatsoever. None.Quote:

Where in the name of the Twelve does all this spite and cynicism come from, anyway? Is it natural or do you spend all your time determined to be this negative just to drag others down because you yourself cant allow others to be happy or excited?Quote:

Seriously. Why?
..and you know this...how?Quote:

Maybe..or the direct opposite, you could be pleasantly surprised.Quote:
No, and I think it's valid considering how they've done their events for the past three years of me being here. But I'll wait and see.
As a lady I once knew and adored beyond measure said "No need to borrow trouble, even less to go look for it" Ill wait and see as well, big difference is I wont expect the worst as some (Not you, Liana ) seem to do all the damned time.

Well, I'm looking forward to it. Perhaps it's because I've only been playing for around 18 months and haven't become cynical about the game, but I do like knowing what's ahead, and I'd assume a trailer might appear from one of the fanfests?
The Fanfests will be streamed, so we will see a lot of what happens.
The site for now is just Fanfest stuff, and announcing when The Rising event will happen (27th of August).
Hiya Titanmen. Ya need to be more original than THAT.Quote:

Looking at past precedent, there will 100% be a trailer coming from the fanfests. The way they did it last time was the first fanfest had a teaser, the 2nd one extended that teaser, and the final one had the full trailer. The initial teaser was maybe half the final length, the music was unfinished(well, it might have been done but the version used was muted and distorted to make the lyrics much less decipherable), and it didnt have all the "reveals" that would eventually be present(an example of a "reveal" in this case would be Alphy showing up as a sage). The extended teaser was the same, but included an extra couple scenes with more of the "reveals" present. And of course, the final trailer from the third fanfest is the one that plays on your loading screen to this day - cleaned up music, all scenes, all details present.
As a follow up, here is a list of each and every reward provided in-game since 2014: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/The_Rising
I don't see any repeats. Do you?
And yet, Shinkuno, every fanfest will be packed, every concert full, every single event thronged with people looking at what is to come in 7.0. I cant be there in person, but will be watching it all with a huge smile on my face. :)
Probably because they all go straight to the cash shop right after. It's almost worse actually - with WoW they add more to the pool and then cycle old with new. But with XIV, if you want the old again you NEED to pay money.

There's a lot more obviously.
Anyway - I think they're both kinda meh in their own way. Only difference is I think WoW does way more casual events through the year, making the world feel a little more lived in. :/
truth be told im going to lower my expectations with this a bit. Going to assume what they are going to show during the fan fests. Female hroghgar going to be shown and the two classes. The only thing is the order on how its going to be shown . The tombstome event lets see whats going to be in this time. The rising event looking forward to see what's going on. maybe another random office area
This better be the biggest rising event ever.
I dont ever remember Blizzard hosting any kind of fanfest anywhere in this hemisphere. Ever. So you will forgive me if I am more in favour of a company that remembers its customers are GLOBAL in nature. I dont hate Blizzard, I just got sick and tired of their constant litany of failures.
So: not the same thing at all.
Better that than never seeing them ever again.Quote:

Your bias is showing lmao. Blizzcon you remember? And lmao "remembers its global customers" they literally care about noone except the JP playerbase. Always have, always will. And what failures? According to your flawless logic of sales = good, WoW Shadowlands was the best the game has ever been ;)
10th anniversary while I've been playing for nearly 13 years. Hmm...
lol yeah it really should say XIV:ARR 10th Anniversary. They really trying to forget about the first few years. IS YOUNG HUNK THANCRED NOT WORTHY OF YOUR LOVE!?
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/fi..._of_An_Era.png
I never went to one. The cost to travel to the USA with accommodation is and was prohibitive..and Blizzard was never interested in an event outside America. They did attend Pax Aus, they set up a small podium, erected a third rate cardboard cutout figure then vanished...apparently talking to their customers wasnt on their agenda...whilst next door SE was hosting a huge event where you could play the new raid.Quote:

I disagree.Quote:

I never said that. My point was the stark contrast between the cynicism and negativity I see here vs the reality of packed fanfests and happy players.Quote:

These days I look at it the way I remember a staffer I had. Didnt listen, didnt learn, mistake after mistake after mistake. The fact that they blatantly lied to their customers is one thing I will never forgive.Quote:
It kinda sounds like you used to be obsessed with Blizzard, now you turned that into pure hatred and found a new obsession. That shit ain't healthy.
Take it any way you like.
It's funny how much it flip flops, too. They both want to seemingly pretend 1.0 is an entirely separate thing but also pick at lingering 1.0 plot threads when it's convenient.
They should have more confidence in that era as far as I'm concerned. It had a lot of problems but the zone design and character design/characterisation was a lot better. Even the cut scenes were less stiff.
One project I wish they would do is to recreate the 1.0 storyline, BUT only via NG plus, using the current engine. A huge job, agreed, but it would be fun to play it all.Quote:

I uh, don't think that's really true.
Constructively, the entire thing just seems to lack imagination in general. Nothing here is a really a surprise or worth getting excited about, at least for me anyway. There's nothing in-game to really celebrate the 10 year, outside of the Rising, but I feel there should be something more, that doesn't require me to get a plane ticket for an event, or spend more money on the SE store. ...Back during the ShB pre-release, there was a stress test in The Lochs where Ixion was force-spawned by I'm assuming GMs, they were floating above us watching and collecting data. This was meant to stress test instances across the game during pre-Shadowbringers hype to prevent another Raubahn EX situation I'm guessing, and players were requested to show up, mingle, have a good time, and get some Ixion horns if you never got the chance to find a spawn window on your own. Unfortunately, haven't seen something like it since.
This always stood out to me as a really good idea for developer/player interaction and it harkens back to the 1.23b sieges on the city states during the Fall of Dalamud. Wouldn't it be neat to open up a few instances, force spawn
Odin, Behemoth, Couerlregina, that one in Azys La that never shows up so I don't remember it, Archaeotania, Formidable, Ixion, Tamamo, Phi, and Daivadipa across the game a few times over a weekend, so every player, even if they aren't in the current expansion can participate? Or even some kind of throwback event. Imagine if we got really blessed with a "For the 10th Anniversary, we are happy to present "The Binding Coils of Bahamut (Normal)" so that all players can experience the Coil storyline without unsyncing? "Developer resources etc etc", yeah they're already focusing on the new player experience, I don't think that's a stretch.
Just not satisfied with mediocrity, I've been through this song and dance multiple times now. The 10 year should've been different, at least to respect the history of the game. Not expecting "30th year Anniversary of Bungie" tier of content drop (whatever you think about D2, that was a great free update), but come on man.
Yeah, and I keep saying it - They should've finished that whole plotline around Stormblood. But I think they just hoped to continue the continent hopping 90% world plot, 10% Ascian plot. But not so quickly realized that was an extremely boring idea. I bet they felt creatively trapped. But they kinda only have themselves to blame there.
I'm absolutely ready for 100% self-contained stories. Do 'em in 1-2 expacs please, make them 100 hour bite sized.
Also, if I'm being honest - I never really liked the war parts of Final Fantasy. I like it as a plot device for the party to skirt around, but as the MAIN plot device? It's boring. Always has been boring.
I think this is where XVI actually shines, and maybe they've learned for 7.0. But XVI does war, it has a lot of war. But it's more traditional FF where it skirts around it, so your character plans AROUND the world events, and is not directly tied to every single fucking event in the world. Then they have the lore systems in XVI, which oh my god it's so good. Please let us get that in XIV. Please let us be a normal protagonist that isn't directly on the world stage. Thank you Yoshi.
People really get angry about anything and everything don't they?
Stop bringing your weird store manager shit into this, you always do that. It's so weird. It's like trying to be a flex working at a Walmart, and it just comes off as strange. You always have these weird little anecdotal stories about how you were right and how the IT guy, or floor employee was wrong. It all just sounds like some Karen shit. Stop it please, it never helps whatever cause you're trying to promote. lol
"I'm always right, because this one time an IT guy said I was wrong, then the whole system failed, and then I smiled and the whole office clapped"
Also with your anecdote, you basically justified the frustrated player behavior you see on these Forums. Good job I guess?
