Wish they'd remove the restrictions on portraits at this point

I don't know if anyone else knows the feeling but you sit there spending 30 minutes experimenting with a plate. The plate is sfw and it doesn't have any nsfw implications. Your face is fully in view of the plate but there's that awful flashing triangle telling you that you can't save the plate. So you end up having to slightly tweak it somehow, which is sometimes simple, sometimes not(especially when you consider how hard it is to pause certain animations at the right frame).

Just moping a bit that people who couldn't help/control themselves forced SE to put restrictions on them, while the rest of us have to deal with the consequences.

It's probably the spaghetti code in a nutshell. Portraits are messy, change 1 materia and you have to refresh.

The funniest dumbest crap is when you get a really cool dramatic pose with your weapon with /vpose or /bstance and all it's looking good and then you get the "Actually your face is not in the plate or it's covered or something" cause the weapon is SLIGHTLY covering one hair strand too many to one side.

Which is weird, as the Adventure Plate doesn't have that issue.

Makes me think that tying the Portraits to a saved gear slot may be what's causing the issues. If they could somehow make it independent of that then it wouldn't be a problem. Though, that might require too much work than it's worth in their eyes.

It is kinda sad, those who still want to make NSFW plates can do that still it is hilariously easy. All SE did it seems was making it harder to make nice sfw plates.

It isnt even consistent. On Lalafell i could use the MCH pvp pose to cover pretty much my whole face, THE SAME POSE on taller races requires you to be turned around alot more to not get the "face not visible" error.

As you said, people just had to eff around and find out, and not surprisingly, we all found out.

I just wanted a "global portrait" that would just update according to what you're wearing atm.

I vastly prefer the adventurer plate method of just letting you make a picture that's whatever with whatever outfit you want, and if you want the outfit to update you do it yourself.

You can even change your hairstyle and it still has the old one. It's great.

its a struggle for me at home, every time myself or family changes outfits, we have to constantly burn all the old pictures and then take them over again.

Alot of Forwards and Back in the system.

I Honestly, Personally, never had issues with any of the Portraits.

Beta was honestly perfect, then came the restrictions with so much tape.

Then came the Portraits having to mesh with the tape.

Then came the "Changes" that eased some of the burden back to a different version of how it was in beta.<Yet still restrictions on poses>

And now today, we're tbh, the community largely "Physically" is of the age to not care, or is "allowed" to be around/subjected to said topics. That it don't matter. [Except to keep with the Ratings.]

[Speaking of ratings, it just makes XVI feel like a testing of waters to census the communities reception for more mainlines to breach that gap.]

Regardless, we can only see to keep pushing that feedback if some change is wanted. Else its all words.

I hate that I change nothing and just because it was glamoured for a different job, it thinks it's different now, though it is glamoured again the same way for the current job. It's just so inconsistent.

The adventurer plate should be the default portrait used everywhere, with the job-restricted ones (...why...?) being optional for those that want multiple poses, glamours, etc, also an option to just not have a portrait at all would be nice.

Yeah that could be!

If the Adventurer Plate portrait doesn't break when you change glamours or even /visor (lol), why it can't be used as the 'Global portrait'?

I've stopped bothering with portraits at this point. Having to manually update your portrait anytime you change something has become too much of a hassle to have to remember.

I've gotta agree with this, and was something I was thinking about the other day. Not the best solution, as I'd rather have my current gear be in the portrait, but it's better than nothing.

Sad thing is that's originally how the instant portraits worked
Now we're forced to re-save them every time we change anything at all

2 changes i would like:
- When it detects a portrait is considered changed, it checks if it is savable, and if so, just accepts it and overwrites it. Any gear changes etc dont matter then. If the check happens clientside, it barely slows down anything (and if it did, it can still decide to ignore it - mostly relevant when you quickly change to start a duty).
- When a portait isnt considered valid, you can start editing from that invalid state. And you can copy over the invalid state towards other jobs. This way if it truly became invalid (as for example weapon changed), it enables minor tuning (changing camera angle)

I only ever bother with portraits when its for a job i dont often change gear for anyway (usualy lvl 90 jobs). So changes arent happening too often. But during leveling, this constant conflict is just anoying, and its the main reason i stopped caring at that point.

They're awful and that's why I turned them off and refuse to touch the system altogether. I no longer care that what other people see looks like a driver's license photo. Can't be bothered.
