2025: IS max rank 50 10,900,000xp required

at the rate xp requirements are inflating, I suspect it will get ludicrously hard to level the island sanctuary at one point

and honestly, I'm all for it, it would make IS a kind of an oldschool grind that while mindless, would be pretty satisfying for all the people who dedicated time into it

I hardly doubt we will see new IS updates past EW.

I essentially just gathered enough new mats for the construction and let the workshops and construction xp do the rest. No work needed other than setting up the workshops. I should be reaching lvl 16 on tomorrow pm. Those that want to grind can grind but that’s just boring to me. Getting the final mount a few weeks later makes zero difference to me.

Anyway, I don’t think they will keep updating the Island after the EW expansion.

Would love to see more island past EW, also would be cool to see features that allow different ways to interact with content- including leveling. Currently it's not too bad to just wait it out via mammet craft, garden, and building exp, but if you wanted to actively level then good luck lol.

Made suggestions that include things like charms that add new effects like every X spear fish you gain range (throw the spear), each gather gives you a sprint buff that can stack, % chance to gain triple (or more) items but the node takes twice as long to regenerate, quintuple exp on gathering up to X exp per day and double there on afte (could be * and % based bonus for permanent value), etc. Thread.

Also to hopefully see some ideas that don't exclusively rely on building on top of the last. Like they could add a harbor and exploratory system that may unlock at earlier ranks (sub 15), and naturally ranks can unlock upgrade steps in that. Not everything needing to be added at the tail.

Guaranteed there won't be a rank increase beyond patch 6.5. That isn't how SE makes content.

I find it amazing that for many, it seems to be reaching 16 is the norm.
When many who dropped the ball on IS or were away are only just barely about to reach 14.

But content takes its own pace, and the casual IS EXPlosion havers, are basicly IS Midcore.
With the Few IS Hardcore who gathered/mixed all the exp to 16 day one for the discords.

Those that do partake in it, actually enjoy it, and put only the amount of effort they think it deserves.

Being that IS is essentially this expansions version of either The Ishgard restoration or Bozja (in terms of resources at least) I can almost guarantee that it won't receive any more updates after 6.5x (might be in 6.55 though), and that update will likely be a small one, like the previous update, so probably no new gathering zones, just a couple extra landmarks, mounts, and a few more recipes.
We might get a second Island as 'new' content for 7.x, but given how they like to shake up this side content each expansion, I wouldn't place any bets.

From Materia to Aether I have seen this content continue to grow and loved. Instead of putting a bad rap on the sanctuary try playing it first. Island Sanctuary is going to be really awkward in 7.0 when it basically exists solely as a free source of Cordials.

Whatever we see in 6.5 is likely the final version of the feature, hopefully it gets something to make it worthwhile but I'm not holding my breath.

Let us bring our fave husbandos and waifus to the island and have em stay there!

They've done a number squish before and it went fine. If they continue it I'm sure they can compensate or just introduce a different mechanic with its own exp system.

That said I'm with the doubters here when it comes to whether or not it'll get much more attention. *coughcoughSQUADRONScough*

Island Sanctuary is just an expansion feature and will be dropped the moment we go to the next adventure in 7.0. And Im sorry but in no shape or form my comment was "negative" I was just stating the obvious.

Are you new to the game by any chance and you don't know how content works in this game?

I'm conflicted on this.

Whilst Island Sanctuary would benefit from having a grind behind it - It's got a system in such that, if you're doing it you're probably watching Netflix etc.,

I think it would benefit more just having a proper gathering system behind it, and/or a crafting system where people can craft for the workshop with gathered items.

You mean all the different aspects of DoL/DoH, which have fun minigames built upon them, are varied and quite well developed? Nah, that would make too much sense, let's make it so you click the node, short animation plays, and then you're done.

Seriously, at least make some RNG modifier for higher yield or some time/weather dependent nodes or something, anything that isn't clicking a tree/rock/plant.

I wouldn't really call it an old school grind. The most effective way to get XP is to use your granaries and update your workshop once a week. 10 minutes once a week is hardly a grind.

Island Sanctuary was supposed to be relaxing farming game, it's just a weekly spreadsheet and forget sadly.

Try it without using the spreadsheet or hiring the mammets to tend the cropland and pasture.

If you're not getting much out of it, it's because you're letting other sources handle most of the content engagement instead of doing it yourself.

^ This. I never use spreadsheets and guides, that sounds boring. I just craft random things in the workshop (whatever I have the most materials for, lol), manually feed my animals every day, water my plants, etc. Do I earn max Cowries this way? No I don't, but I don't care because I've been sitting on 200k+...

The level of optimization available makes it hard not to want to follow the math lol, it's substantial- that said when I'm feeling lazy and just need exp I use some hyper generic loops based on whatever is popular for that day. One idea I had suggested was landmarks had function with like the Quixotic Windmill causing unpopularity to become popular(ish)-- for those who just wanted to make stuff and call it a day. The effects could be slotted once unlocked (by being built), or alternatively buildings glamour'd, so you can enjoy the visuals. Naturally min-maxing would still be better but you could boost your floor.

I am surprised at the depth / variety they added to the crafting though. Got to plan your creatures, your plants, your granaries, and your workshops correctly if you want the big numbers- coalescing into one massive dance (albeit a bit math-y, but still one big disco). Kind of hope they can add some things to some of the other components to be more interesting (like gathering manually, although I'd push for less math-y on that lol).

I would actually hope it doesn't become like that.

I'm all for grinds but the only reason it would be a grind would because you're not someone who played on the day 1 release date. If you started on day 1 then you get to automate everything and if you started an expansion later(assuming there's continuous updates), you might actually have to grind in there to catch up. It won't feel right.

The whole automation options and following trends to sell things is just not enjoyable design.

Doesn't help that everything needs to be done through clunky menus either.

My friends wanted a chill Harvest Moon (or similar game) experience, but it's just not this chief.

The only part I somewhat enjoyed was catching the animals the first time, but because there's no more slots I have no interest in going after any of the newer ones.

I know some people enjoy it, so it's not complete waste of a content, but it was pretty big miss for me.

Sure there could be a bit more rng and daily things to do, but it is fine really.
I do not follow guides or discords on what to put into the workshop, but try to get better at understanding how to get good at it by just playing it intuitively.

I would probably do it without the rewards, but I appreciate and encourage the rewards.. most definitely. Also am personally leaving feedback to have more means of engagement outside of mammet power (automation / tap n done).

I think they will keep adding more content after 6.5. People enjoy the content. Unlike ishgard restoration where once we rebuilt the homes it was done or bozja where once you defeat the lady its pretty much over. The benefit of this is there is many ideas they could still do. They could add more islands. More animals. More systems, I would like to see maybe something like breeding animals,cooking minigame,treasure hunting (its a secluded island. Has to be something here) Maybe they could finally give us blitzball as a island game since there is water everywhere.

I pentamelded my gatherers and crafters for free this time and will be really sad if they don't include the newest 7.0 materia in the mammet shop.

You do know that at some point the island will be finished, right? I suspect that the IS will be finished before the next expansion hits, so max rank will be maybe 20-25.

So much doom and gloom about nothing. Or hype in your case since you like the grind.

I enjoy IS it is not perfect by far but I am almost rank 16 and I have done it all myself just by doing workshops and feeding the animals and gathering. I really enjoy the underwater areas and find it quite relaxing just swimming round and farming. I wish there where more rewards and I hope they keep adding to it.
I have a house but if they added a place I could put my house then I would prefer that as I enjoy the peace and quiet. I don't look at spreadsheets and I try to figure it out on my own because I enjoy that more.

I hope they could add personal houses for people as this would have been much better than the wards and give every player a chance to get their own house and a nice island.

IS straight up has system for automation of pasture and cropland. Why would we not use it?

As for workshop, I really did try to do it myself for the first time, but that shit is garbage. In workshop, you need to go to the Review Supply & Demand window, you need to watch some guide because game doesn't even tell you exactly what does each parameter mean. So now you need to look for some good item. You find it, you close the window, you click Add button in workshop, another window popups (which for some reason uses regular UI skin, so for me it's blue, while last window has that IS exclusive look). Then you need to find that item. Add it to timeline and back to the step 1 for the next items. And after you're done, you need to copy all of these items to the other workshops.

So I'll rather just copy some spreadsheet than to go through this hassle. I really don't see why we still cannot have supply and demand window open with the other windows.

You can now right click in workshop and select items straight from the statistics screen.
Workshopping is now a lot more fluid after the 6.3 improvements.
(I think it was 6.3, or was it 6.2, don't remember).

If you've reached max rank then carry on, but at that point you've likely exhausted the system and you're just farming cowries anyway.

When did you last engage with this system? Supply and demand stats have been displayed on the same screen you schedule them for a while now. Just pick the items with the highest predicted demand within the same categories for the first couple days, then the items with the highest predicted demand and highest value for the last couple days, of each week.

They could also update Squadrons, or the Companion system, or Chocobo Racing, or they could have given us a new Restoration, or a new zone like Eureka/Bozja.
But they didn't. They don't tend to rehash content.
If it's really the best thing they have to invest those resources in, they will likely make a new Island (or equivalent) for 7.X, but it'll be a brand new location, new system, and have no connection to the existing Island. Because it needs to be 'new' to draw in players, and to allows those who haven't already grinded 20 ranks in Island Sanctuary to be able to jump right into it.

You need to manually cancel caretaking for 20 animals and 20 plants whenever there is level cap increase. Once you level cap, you need to reassign all 40 things again. I've checked and this is still required after 9 months. We got collect all button, why not cancel all, or even better, temporarily pause all caretaking?

First and last time was when it was released. But I already have my presets. I don't care about min maxing, and frankly, I don't even care about IS at this point, so I just put in my outdated presets in (assuming I don't forget about whole IS for multiple weeks) and don't bother. One would expect that at least main activity on the island would be fully functional on release.

Its still a net profit to be lazy, sure you can spent hours to hit 16 faster and then wait 4 months and 2 weeks or you dont spent hours and get it done and wait 4 months and 1 week.

The Mammets costing cowries is true but if you kept up with it by entering every >2< weeks, you by now have so many leaving, rare mats and produce that you can select "sell all over 200" and have about 60k-80k cowries in those categories, which is almost enough to instantly buy all rewards without even having to do the workshop once and guess what, by the time 6.5 comes around ... the same thing happens again.

Hours? I'm playing most days anyway, it takes about 3 minutes to collect from all the animals, and about 5 minutes every 2-3 days to collect and sow all the crops. You get 1000 EXP a day for the animals, and 2400 EXP every 2-3 days for the crops, which isn't something to be sniffed at when everything else gives you 10 EXP a pop.

And unless you want loads of cowries (I've bought everything I want already) then IS is dead once you hit rank cap anyway.
