What is the point of that whole 1 piece of gear per week

Why everyone is so okay with that ? Like really 7 weeks for a weapon REALLY? I honestly don't care about the stats but the design is cool so I wanted to start raiding to have it quick because I think the fans did a great job designing them they look like relics almost but when I saw that it was still 1 fragment per week im sorry but who thought it was a good idea You pay this game monthly and you play just 15min for a piece and log out or hang out naked at limsa? You guys are fine with that? to not play the game you paid monthly just so everyone as the chance to have it at the same time. I can understand people work I work too and that the whole point i would like to finish what I can when I got time to do so. Maybe thats their way to prevent everyone to finish the poor content we have every 5 month in 2 days

If its the way you want to that okay im not judging you. you pay your sub but like overall players like me that want to give their all to be done with that patch fast I wouldn't stop you example to do what you like on the game

It's just to extend how long content is relevant, and likely through that increase sub time.

To me it's like certain streaming services timing the release of their shows to fall on dates that require you sub for two months instead of one.

It's not that they are okay with it, it's that they understand. Games want to spread out your activity over a number of weeks so everyone doesn't do the content the first day and then log off for months making the game dead. Instead they will spend 1-2 months then log off, which takes them to the next sub-patch.

If you login to do the content on the 5th week and nobody is in the queue for the raids that isn't so good for people wanting to clear for the first time. The queues already take a long time when the raid is old so when the majority of people are doing it, in the first two months, they want to give people a reason to do it over a number of weeks.

Because MMO lockouts grinds are an accepted thing for prolonging the raiding relevancy.

But i dont think the raids will be that dead later on I just did P1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 today for P1 to p8 I was the only first timer in the group and it just took me 5min to 10min to find a group if they so wish to not make the raids dead why not make the relic about raid grind or just an event special reward for new people that do it and people that comes back to it to create some hype could just be lv 1 glams or replicas of the raids gear

It's the most important piece during gear progression and it's being gated behind either timing, or trying your luck at clearing a Savage fight because what would be the point of having gear progression if everything was easily handed in a few weeks and we had our choice over what to pick first at all times?

I assure you that keeping it gated is not gating raid progression, at all. the biggest gate towards clearing content is to not die dumb deaths. Or not get killed by a player doing something dumb. Early clearers clear without a tomestone weapon, and later clearers... Well a weapon won't save them from themselves.

It's literally just that it's the biggest reward you could gain so it's locked behind the biggest test of patience or effort in the game short of clearing the last Savage floor. It seems pretty natural to me.

As to paying the game to AFK at Limsa and not play, first I don't see how it is in any way tied to the tomestone weapon, second if that's what you like to do, or everything you can imagine yourself doing, well definitely a you problem.

See this reason makes no sense as if we could get more than 1 piece per week or more than 450 seals id play more to gear up all my classes. Whereas atm I log off after getting my weeklys and go play another game. Which in turn makes me pay less on 14 as I occasionally get into the other game instead.

I would be okay with that if the game didn't have a sub forcing you to progress as much as you can in a month as for afk player its just because I have a lot of friends that are in this situation where they want to be done with patch so they can like Yoshi-P said "Play other games" but they try to enjoy FF still because they paid for the whole month so all they do is log in and chat because they are done with everything they like its sad

If they are story players, they can absolutely be done with the patch by experiencing all story content as fast as they can in the first day or two and then unsub. they won't need a tomestone weapon for that.

If they are the kind of players who consider the content done when they have done the Savage tier too, well they don't need the tomestone weapon for that either, lots of people clear it in the first few weeks whyen maybe one person in a party will have it, the rest still have their trial or crafted pentamelded weapon.

If they consider collecting items and glamours the endgame, they'll be pleased to know they can sunsub whenever and in six months they can complete the game by infinitely farming the unlocked token necessary for those weapons.

It seems all the problems you are describing are self inflicted and have nothing to do with lockinga tomestone weapon behind whatever. I still don't understand how the tomestone weapon relates to them being unable to make their own fun for 29 days out of their monthly sub scription.

I can understand the frustration, but at the same time, I understand why they do it (even aside from the obvious answer of "to keep people subbed"). Just like you want the gear to look cool, there's people who want to always have the most bleeding-edge gear, and if you take the weekly limits off of it and just say "here you go, you can grind all the gear out instantly, but it'll take 80 hours", there's a good chunk of people who'll attempt to burn through it as fast as possible, and not only will they have no reason to sub afterwards, they will have hated every hour of that grind, and probably the game as a result.

You can say "well that's their own decision, too bad", but this isn't something unique to FF14 or MMO players in general. There's a quote from the designers of the Civilization games that's essentially "given the chance, players will optimize the fun out of a game for themselves, so it's the job of the designer to save them from themselves", which rings true in a lot of senses across a bunch of categories. It can refer to cheap strategies that obsolete core parts of the game (which players will gravitate to, especially for challenges), but also to things like MMOs where if you give the player the option to do something they'll really hate to do for a reward, some people will do it and like the game less because of it. So pacing structures exist to keep those kinds of people from willingly shooting themselves in the foot + burning out on the game

As a decently high-end raider, I enjoy that after week 1, I can just log on for a few hours each week, do my stuff, and then take a break for another week and not feel like I'm falling behind. Obviously you're talking about normal modes vs savage, but it's not much different there.

I could try savage I never did any before because I knew this patch would be the last one gear wide I wont wait seven week to get a weapon that will be obsolete in 2 month but since it should be one of the strongest gear of Endwalker I may try. I actually tried practice Golbez (Extreme) pretty much blind run for the first time ever in High end content with my DRK it was easier than I though.I expected it to be way wayyyyy harder idk how savage are tho

I understand the reason they do it, but at the same time I dont think 1 drop per week or 450 tomes per week is sufficient anymore. We got so many classes now, so would it really hurt to double it to 2 drops and 900 cap? Weapon could still stay at 7 weeks (or is it 6weeks) i'm fine with that.

Some things are meant to be aspirational.

I don't mind it, personally - though do prefer it when they reduce it to four weeks.

Eitherway, have seen what happens in MMOs when they take the instant-gratification route with the (at the time) most desired items , and it wasn't good.

Because the effort necessary to earn gear is minimal otherwise. It is pretty much a "participation reward." Show up (for example) once per day for five days and do Expert. And you get gear. Nothing to it.

Id take current way of gear progression than what other mmos do, heck some rely completely on rng drop or worst... rng drop with randomized stats, then you got to go farm or through some bs stat reroll crap...

Unfortunately a bit of necessary evil for the longevity of the game.

Players are prone to burn through content so timed hurdles need to be placed or everyone vanish after a week. Least in this game you can reliably farm something rather than like over in WoW where you have a 50% chance to get that one raid item you want after 3 months.

"Dollar dollar bill y'all~"

Then clear the second savage floor and get the tome weapon drop and buy your weapon next week.

Otherwise stop complaining.
