Bard is perfect the way it is now, I'm glad that square enix made those perfect change, changes we're god sent.

So true, they want you to play bard in mid range now. They nerfed the living hell out of silent nocturne but they didn’t buff hp, buff powerful shot and expected warden’s paen buff to offset getting obliterated.
Now bard does no damage AND can’t secure kills. No smart bard is going to spam powerful shot in melee-ish range to replenish empyreal arrow. And if you’re in the back, then you’re out of range to silence to support your team or secure kills. Devs probably thought that players aren’t going to jump on bards while they’re in the back because they’re listening to garbage players tell them what needs a nerf.
Bard is absolutely useless in CC now, especially if you have a subpar team, it makes it even worse. Why play bard when you can play any other class and deal more damage, not be as squishy AND stun, silence, etc.
BRD is now useless in pvp period, I'm super pissed about it because now my choices are a. stop playing pvp or b. learn a new job and neither of those are something I want to do.

It's 2 sec now. I would have been fine with a duration nerf. That doesn't bother me too much and could have easily adjusted to that. The problem is they reduced the duration, reduced the time and removed the damage it did. They have essentially removed BRD's ability to do meaningful burst. The job has always been pretty reliant on teammates, but had some semblance of individual contribution to carry, but now its 100% reliant on teammates. You're better off playing MCH now if you want to play a ranged job that can pick people off quickly who are out of position.
BRD was fine. It wasn't too strong, nor was it weak. It required a heavy reliance on teammates, but could pick people off pretty well when played right with their burst phase. The nerf is overkill and destroys their ability to finish off enemies.
Are you guys sure you are not overreacting a bit? I didn't get to try revamped bard yet but on the surface I think the biggest issue with silence is the range reduction because that will require a major adjustment given the range on most of everything else is 25 yalms. Changing it from 3 to 2 seconds sucks and it ocured to me that people will either waste their purify on it or won't purify at all because 2 seconds silence isn't worth it. This is bad because bard has two debuffs that can be purified and with one of them not being worth it the other will get cleared more often but at the same time it means that the 2 seconds silence is guaranteed, heck by the time it hits you and you hit puri that's 2 seconds gone. The 2000 potency can hardly be missed if the repelling shot got 2k increase and the cd on that is 5 seconds shorter. The repelling shot and silence can make a nice combo while silence still triggers pitch perfect which was always silence's biggest damage value. There is also a potency increase on the apex arrow, a skill with the same cd as silence so technically these changes should not affect bard's burst potency, as for its effectivness...it hasn't been great in the first place! Silence will need better timing now that the window is smaller but paired with repelling shot it can still work wonders...I imagine. Paeon got a nice boost too if used at the right time so there's more motivation to utilise it outside of burst. I do wish bard wasn't so fragile but hey, it makes it a great job for those who like to feel alive!
I consider it a little silly that the -15s to charge LB is a change only to FL. That's the real weakness in BRD's kit compared to other jobs.
A Limit Break that is only useable once in a match, and will only *slightly* increase the charge rate of other people's LB's. Also, only if I'm not killed during the animation lock. Also, only while I'm still alive. Also, only if I'm in range of them.
And in 90% of my CC matches, by the time my LB is up - the match already has a winner.
Bard is over, my first play today was in total shock in what they did with it, you literally can't do anything, you need to be in melee range to be able to even try to kill anyone and makes the already 0 def Bard an instant kill target for the entire team, Bard was to begin with the weakest job in PVP, and now they made sure of it to be the worst of all, for what reason i have no idea, i wouldn't care if they just nerfed the duration, i'm not even mad about making it do 0 damage, but making the range so short makes the entire job a joke, even thought it was a joke to begin with. So far you had impact if your team was good, and you were totally useless if your team was bad, now you make no impact even with a god or bad team, Square Enix always makes the most useless changes, this made me don't even care about pvp, and the only reason why i will go in from today forward is to do my 1-2 Fronline/day for the rewards doing absolutely nothing in the entire match.
It wasn't awful prior. If you played it smart you could easily pick off enemies fast. Yes, it had heavy reliance on teammates, but it was also really good at snubbing out players quickly, you just had to be smart about it. It wasn't a strong carry job like DRG could be, but it could turn the tide of a fight very quickly. Now it just doesn't have that threat anymore.
You know, now that I think on it - its always been in kind of a weird place with its range.
The Bard's two primary attacks are 'line' attacks - dealing damage to any it passes through. But the job deals damage based on range. So do you stand at max range of your target to deal the most damage, or move in and aim at the furthest target out so you can get residual damage on the 'pack' and risk taking hits yourself. Now you've got this weird 15y range on the silence where, if you were playing option A - you're not going to be able to toss out a CC against that person at max range. So I have no idea how they're even thinking the job is supposed to be played now.
You definitely aren't going to be doing noticeable damage. All jobs should be able to out-damage you (Even Tanks/Healers) - and some jobs should be pulling 2-3x your numbers, easily.
I suppose if there's a silver lining, I've had people tell me they try to blow their purify on the silence and in many cases, since the duration is so short, they end up just wasting it and not getting the 5s of immunity since the server didn't acknowledge that they removed anything.
The bard nerf is out of touch completely.
i dont even play BRD and i think the nerf was uncalled for, be it as a teammate or an opponent or whether it was to my advantage or disadvantage i thought brd was fine, not really that much of a threat to warrant a reduction this hard
The range nerf is awfull and show how peoples in charge of balancing are not playing the game.
Forcing Bard into close range BUT THE CLASS IS DESIGNED TO BE AT MAXIMUM RANGE is the dumbest thing they could do.

Yea the changes were unwarranted. BRD is a very safe support dps that can't hard carry games by itself, but the devs thought the silence was carrying them which is pretty amusing. I'm wondering who in the world was complaining about BRDs being op in CC. lmao.
Everything a BRD can do, a WHM can do better. Hell, BRD loses trade to NIN now because NIN simply do more damage from 20 yalm away as a melee.
It's pathetic. There is absolutely no point playing as BRD in CC.
I'll never take a WhM comparing MoN with any other crowd control seriously.
( Also reliably killing solo as a BRD even before that nerf? Good joke, if I want to solo kill people as ranged i'll play MCH, RDM or even BLM/SMN, even WhM can burst people down somewhat easy by combining Afflatus, MoN and Purgation )
you havent played it before and after the new patch i can tell it got worse
I think 2 of some of the fastest players to reach Crystal this season played BRD so the job is still fine :p
You even get an instant heal after your gap closer... >.>
I think the nerf was a bit too much this time. I get that the silence was one if not the biggest selling point but the decreased range on a class that wants to keep distance (which is already bad design in a mode where you don't want to step out the crystal melee range if there's overtime). Basically ruined the job's purpose to be a dangerous back row nuisance - now it's just a target when everyone else is dead lol.
At least make the backflip jump into 15y so you can quickly go back into action when needed.
I sincerely hope they do not go overboard with butchering skills due to balance at the cost of class fantasy (in this case, striking enemy vital points (throat to silence) at a long distance) - that's the biggest selling point in PvP for me at least right now that PvE is lacking severely...
The change would be fine if bard's damage wasn't complete garbage in close range. the min range for the full damage on your shots needs to be reduced
