How do Lalafells hear?

I do not understand this.
Lalafells ears are covered when they wear most hats, with cloth or leather. How do sounds reach their ears? Do Lalafells hear via something else?

It was the same thing with Tarutarus in FFXI, I never understood this.
Does anyone know?

the same way you can hear if you wear a skull cap or hoodie over your ears? i dunno lol

...Just because some one wears earmuffs doesn't mean that they can't hear. Same way with Lala/Taru.

We dunefolk lalafel have developed a tongue that has special sensors on it that allow us to pick up vibrations. This is how we hear, I don't know about the plainsfolk lalafel.

Even though this is true, it just seems like a bad idea in general to muffle the sounds. Why not cut out holes?

We plainsfolk hear with our left eyebrow. Thats why we hear u differently depending if u speak to us from left side or from right side

Because armor should be protecting you, not leaving your ears open to be cut off. Our ears are long, so it's easy to cut them off. And a lala looks weird without ears.

i can only hear people after im drunk and naked, my skin soaks up everything you say and with my super powers when drunk translates it all :D

Probably like how I hear the howl of the wind through my motorcycle helmet IRL. Think of it this way: Sound is just a type of waveform, it can be transmitted through any medium that can vibrate, or experience pressure variation. (like air or even solid objects)
