Melee jobs (non tank)

Need the biggest fattest nerf the gaming industry has ever seen. A big 50% damage and health. Reapers and Monks being the biggest offenders to this balancing issue. It is extremely difficult to play as any Range job in Crystal conflict when Monk's and Samurai can't be shaken off. Reapers with their massive burst damage, Ninja's with stealth and teleports. Dragoons with their leaps and disengages. What do any of the range jobs outside RDM which is a melee / range hybrid have that actually does anything to kite you away from enemies?

A bards disengage is a small leap back that gives you no breathing room. Dancers dash is short and is meant for the dps combo so using it as purely escape can waste burst damage potential, mechanists have literally no mobility abilities, and can only slow at melee range on top of having the poison spray available, on top of enhancing it. BLM needs someone in the back lines to teleport but you want to keep your distance so the likely chance of someone being further away from the melee fights is extremely low. For some reason the Summoners mobility ability is charging at enemies as a range squishy. Like who designed this stuff?

Now obviously 50% nerf is to harsh but like damn, bards cast shot is 6k in CC and 2k in frontlines, thats more than half damage nerf because being range in frontlines is "unfair" but being melee in cc is pretty much the same advantage of being range in frontlines. Fix the balance between melee / range in CC or better yet, remove fomo battlepasses off the game and the people who care about balance don't even have to pvp!

I think the balance between ranged and melee is fine, yes melee have the capability of rushing down and killing any ranged, especially for jobs like NIN and MNK who are designed to deal with those. However, there is still quite a bit of stuff in the toolkit that allows you to not only get away, but jobs also have CC/buffs to help them survive being rushed down. Like how Mountain Buster is not only a bind on the main target, and Radiant Aegis allows you to survive being focused. Similarly, BLM has Burst(the shield aoe ability), Night Wing sleep CC, and the Blizzard freeze debuff. Not to mention taking account your team, which is important in a team based game mode, is great with helping you peel off anyone focusing you.

Melees being left unchecked at low rank or in casual is a very common sight. It gets less problematic at higher ranks because people know how to deal damage, burst down targets and apply pressure, as well as defending.

1) You need to stay close to your team as much as possible, to incite them to help you. If your team is decent, they should be able to damage them down or peel them off you.

2) If you need to bail far away because it's a matter of life and death, you have a lot of tools to crowd control the enemy usually, but if it doesn't work, then it doesn't. There is a lot of counterplay to be had, but sometimes you just have to accept that melees also have other issues than you (mainly taking a constant stream of incoming damage all the time), and that sometimes they take advantage of your positioning, or just your own team being outclassed.

3) Usually as ranged it can turn very binary. You know your team is totally outclassed when melees are running rampant behind your lines and all your ranged are being bullied to oblivion. It's gg at this point. If you're outclassing them you'll be left unchecked most of the game. When it's more balanced is where we can discuss a little more about what you can do and what you can't I guess.

Reapers? Burst damage? lol what?

Learn how to use your disengage and pop sprint. If you can't get back to your team then it means you failed to pay attention and are getting swarmed and were gonna die anyways.

With no target or targeting yourself BLM can Aetherial Manip to themselves in place to gain the Swiftcast buff!

There is a lot of questionable things in the updated PVP. They left in the dumb battle high mechanic in which just makes the DR buff to melee worse to play against. Then they gave everyone healing that is actually better then healers while keeping healers damage low. Don't even get me started on the CC...

The original Frontlines from the new 6.0 update felt great, the biggest outlier was Summoner. They needed to tweak the gameplay instead of slapping on a heavy DR buff on some classes and calling it a day.

What kills me with salted earth tbh is more the mega delay there is between the pull in and the debuff. I've pressed purify too early so many times that it's infuriating. You have to wait a long time before doing it and it really feels like years before you can finally pop sprint after having cleansed it.

It snapshots so quickly, too. I've had Salted Earth just yoink me from what seemed like twice the distance of it's animation and it is just endlessly frustrating. Server tick snapshotting continues to be a blight upon this game in PvP.

It will be fine when the best ranged character will be the actual ranged characters and not the Ninja even with the nerf it got. Mele having the same amount of mitigation as Tanks is another joke, in this game ranged characters always get punished in every content being ranged, meanwhile mele jobs are almost ranged characters be it in Pvp or outside of it, so i'm not surprised people feel like ranged in PVP is useless , because mostly it is.

I really think something that would fix a lot of the issues would be downsizing the FLs. If they want it to always be 3 GCs, just make it 8v8v8 and then reduce the melee reduction to more a more manageable percentage.

Honestly, it would be interesting to see what kind of meta would develop when less power is given to zerging/salted sky shatter in a hypothetical smaller scaled frontline. It would be funny to see stealth-capping MNK be a thing considering it already thrives as a roaming gank job outside of FL.

I've said it numerous times, but the most fun I had in FL was when 8v8v8 existed back in the day. 72 players is just too excessive.
