How can PVP be totally fixed?

I noticed it seems PVP is lackluster to most other then a xp/tomes gimme. I see people just beeline towards opponents without any sort of tactics. If they got rid of tomes and xp would that encourage people to play smarter?

It sucks that PVP mounts are still tied to achievements for winning which is a rare thing if you get stuck with a team with nobody caring or if anything is PVP just a dumb concept that they put in? I figured they would have PVP zones like other MMO's.

PvP is already fixed and fun and if you don't have fun with it that is totally alright, you can totally go and play stuff you have fun with. Not everything has to be changed just to cater to your specific taste. If you want something that carries prestige, go work for it. I love the ultimate weapons. But i will never raid Ultimates, it is just not my type of content. But do you see me screaming for SE to put all the old ultimate weapons in the treasure trove? Nope ofc not.

Fact is PvP is more popular than ever and not a dead gamemode anymore like it was before the changes.

You can also play in ranked where people actually care about winning. Not that difficult. People who are out for the rewards and casuals will usually play unranked.

I dont pvp in games that don't allow you to pvp in open world so I personally dont care. I'm a firm believer in 1v1 combat when it comes to pvp, I highly disprove of team pvp So add open world pvp and I will do it. Also the fact pvp is in its own area, q it ruins the entire point of pvp for me its suppose to feel like an actrual combat not a *shrug* just when people are in a zone and expect it kind of kills the enjoyment for me. I much prefer rdm2 where I can just go shoot someone at any time at any second, or diablo 2 engima teleport into a baal run and poison nova the entire group.

So I'm not saying to do this, but if you wanted to create a scene of people that actually wanted to play competively and win...

You'd want to remove the daily, remove the experience, remove the rewards in general outside of rewards that require a certain amount of wins. But then you'd probably have such a small group of people bothering, and you'd also end up with lots of win traders.


You should really just leave pvp alone. It's fun for the majority of the people in-game. This game is incredibly casual about basically everything, which is kind of annoying sometimes but that's how people like it.

If people beeline to opponents without a strategy then that is called not playing well and being free points for your opponent. There are plenty of strategies in PvP in this game and if you don't have one in mind that isn't the game's fault. Your strategy may taking out a straggler, using your burst then running away, using your mitigation and invulns as a tank to bait the enemy to attack you while everyone else takes them out from a distance, circling around parts of the base where the enemies aren't gathered at to complete objectives, holding a burst or limit break until a certain moment, running out to bait enemies then running behind your team when you get weak, using stuns at the perfect moment to allow someone to be taken out, knocking them away was a common one (did they remove this? not seen it for a long time).

If you aren't thinking things like this then it's just not the game's fault and I have been just as clueless in other game's pvp. You are either trying or you are not.

they said they werent adding pvp zones to the game. its why its seperate plus with how msq has you goto every map, you would have griefers chasing clients from the game itself literally turning it into a WoW clone

I think being able to play with your friends would make PvP better. Or did they change it and you can finally make a pre-made group?

Eh not that bad besides that makes the game exciting knowing you can kill or be killed at anytime, they could just create a,few worlds with open PvP for people who enjoy risk

had they wanted to do it im sure they would have become a WoW clone lol. its what it is whether people like it or not. like this game isn't pvp based at all. the fact it has pvp is a miracle i think. nowhere in trailers or any info really do they make pvp a part of the excitement to sell it. its always been story story story. thats what sells this game. outside of live letters where they tell us adjustments

Seconded. Though for testing purposes I'd be okay with up-to-2 per group and then see how far we can take it.

But yes, casual should absolutely have it.

Fix the netcode to make PvP less of a joke and PvP scene will slowly start flourishing, but before that happens, it will stay dead. No matter how much content, how good rewards and how much fluff they give it, it won't work if the core is broken.

6.1 PvP changes were great and showed that people are interested, but most just gave up after a while since it's unplayable at serious level. If there is ability which protects you against all CC, then it should work 100%, simple as that. But here we are, getting stunned inside the bubble because server said so. Same thing with snapshotting ults. If someone on my screen is 25% and I use NIN ult, it should be kill every single time.

For Frontlines you can queue with friends - up to 4 people, if I recall correctly.

For Crystaline Conflict its still solo-queues.

PvP is certainly a lot more polished than what it was previously but they do need to do more with it, than just the measily Frontline roulette and seasonal rewards. I wish there was a PvP match roulette where it has all the game modes as well as update the pvp wares to sell more leveling gear beyond lv.60 for alt jobs or characters. Heck I wish they just update the stuff they sell more frequently.

But what how it is currently, its a step in the right direction. Just need more of a push so that it can be more fun and rewarding to play rather than just exp gains.

I would like to see more varied gamemodes too, adding Rival Wings to the Frontlines roulette is an obvious one that many people have been clamouring for, but I would like to see new modes in general because we only have the four Frontline maps (which amounts to zerging rush nodes) and CC. More varied map design and other gamemodes like king of the hill, capture the flag or other multiplayer staples would be great.

I am not joking when I say that if PvP just let me played with friends in casual CC it would easily be Endwalker's greatest addition. It has the potential to be very, very good if nurtured and iterated upon carefully.

People that don't pvp complains about pvp mode.

Or it could go the other way: people stop queueing into dailies (assuming it's a Frontline) and ultimately killed the queue.

It needs more game modes and fewer sides. Three sides is too many. I get it's the Grand Company aesthetic, but Frontlines is a cluster bleep. Smaller pvp is always better. CC fails because it's a solo queue. Feast needs to come back. Pvp, in general, needs to stop being a side activity and actually be an activity. If the devs don't care, then I don't.

In terms of what I would want out of Pvp is go play Wow's pvp steal all of the ideas except their gearing systems because it makes their balance terrible.

Get mad at me all you want Warsong Gulch is fun as hell and it is just capture the flag at the end of the day.

fix Tab button targeting. make better server tick rates. give better ui feedback on what happening or wat about to happen.

In what world would removing incentives to play encourage people to play better? That's like saying people will do better at their jobs if you slash 100% of their pay.

This is a big one. The position update rate in this game is atrocious. If my opponent's location on my screen is actually one second behind where they are in real time, it makes it difficult to chase them around and get in range to land an attack.

It doesn't allow for plays you would see in other games like WoW.

Warrior for example actually has a nice set up for frontline ganks, on paper. You can pull someone in, rush in, stun them, and then knock them back into your team to secure a kill on a healer. How it actually plays out is you pull them in, rush in, stun them, position yourself to knock them into your team, and then they go flying to the side or behind you because on their screen they're actually to the side of you or w/e.

SE can waste however many resources they want on stupid shit like Rival Wings or Crystaline Conflict it will never fix their shitty lag and pvp will always suffer because of it.

There's even more jank that comes with the tick rate.

Purify activating after the stun has already run out or simply getting stunned again before the immunity buff applies, stuns taking so long to register that the opponent has already healed twice and your window to secure a kill is completely gone or the opposite where you heal someone but the heal takes so long to register that they've already died, aoe damage not actually hitting people because the snapshot happened after they moved out of it, the list goes on and on.

Can't happen with the crappy FFXIV engine / net code. Everything in this game was designed to be slower because of it. Takes 6 seconds to turn ANYTHING in (even if the cast bar is 3 seconds) because it has to register in the system.

PvP is woefully under utilized. CC is actually pretty fun despite all the jank that comes with the netcode, but the damage reduction they added to frontline was overkill.

RW should have roulette like FL does, CC might benefit from one but the Casual queue is very active.

Ranked CC is sadly quite worthless beyond your first ever Season since you only get copies of the same title and the plates only have different numbers (at least it's something?) all the other rewards aside from handful of Trophy Crystals from placement are exactly the same as Unranked. Trophy Crystals are borderline useless as reward for Series and Placement if you are active PvP player since you will be drowning on them anyway. Just expanding the pool of items that you can buy with Wolfmarks/Trophy Crystals/Hellhound Collars would be good.

There's been plenty of good suggestions by others in the PvP section over time for all kinds of alternatives and fixes, even options for low-effort tuning to make things better.

But back to the lack of utilization. They could easily add another grind to the game with something like PvP relics, having Seasonal currency only from Ranked (items eventually obtainable even to lowest ranks but take more time) and so on. Yet currently they will do some minor number tweaks each patch based on the win% of the Jobs, so any larger changes will probably only happen during new Expansion launches.

It will take another 5 Seasons of this same stuff until we even get a chance to see them take steps to fix or add things.

PVP in this game will never be good until the netcode issues are fixed. Good luck convincing SE to put in enough effort to fix that.

Better netcode / upgrading their game engine if needed. They need to find a way for spells to go off instantly. Right now it's in a weird spot.

You hear the sound, see the damage/healing combat text on your screen and nothing happens.

How many times I've been killed after seeing the recuperate healing number on my character

They should change it and make it a Royal Rumble match where last to survive wins. No teams just everyone against everyone else and maybe add random boss monsters that attack those that afk or hide.
