Idea: Make RMT spammers killable after 100 reports.

After 100 reports have been submitted against an RMT spammer, the character becomes attackable by anyone for one hour.

The count would be displayed next to the character name for 24 hours, and logging off would not clear it.

After the count reaches 100, players in the area could have some fun finding the spammer in order to kill it, after which, it stays dead for 24 hours.

It would also give us the satisfaction of doing something about them other than reporting without immediately noticeable results.

Hmm, wasn't aware of that. Then just force them offline for an hour after 100 different players report them.

can we rather ask for active GM's in game?

Light DC is absolute bot fest and its ruining the game experience by causing major decrease in performance around the aetheryte in Limsa on Light, Alpha - mainly having the draw distance for other players' characters reduced significantly along with decreased FPS.

It's actually actively making the social aspect of the game worse.

I absolutely agree with what you are saying except....

That isn't the GM's job.

Bots, and RTM are assigned to the FOUR PERSON special forces team. Four people, in the entire world, are authorized to deal with them. GM's are not even allowed to be in the same MAP as a reported bot.

lets face it, with the amount of effort they put in (I am guessing/hoping they do something on the Japanese servers at least) they could be replaced by 3 aloe vera plants and a tea cozy.... at least then they would be useful.

No. That makes it so people can be bullied. Besides the RMT bots outnumber a lot of people and can patsy others.

Most of the bots are already underground when they're spamming anyway, making them killable would be irrelevant since you'd never be able to reach them. (You can find a bunch of them sitting under the Limsa Aetheryte in the cinematic afk cam if it jumps to one of them randomly)

All your solution would do is open an avenue for potential abuse on innocent players.

There is very limited information available what GM's actually do during their workday.
Taken from Main Menu > Support Desk > GM Service Main Menu:

Report a Real Money Trader (RMT) > "we're sorry for inconvenience. thank you." no feedback if any of our reports were heard or if they fall on deaf ears.
Report use of third party software (cheats) > "we're sorry for inconvenience. thank you. use the website because we can't do anything with it."
Report inappropriate behavior > "we're sorry for inconvenience. thank you." the stalker or harasser MIGHT get slap on wrist and 3 day suspension.
Report Violation of Agreement between players > I would love to see example of this. Do they make gil from thin air and give it to someone as compensation for scam? Any stories?
One time item restoration > one time per account meaning each time someone asks for help, another request of the same type will be denied. meaning less and less work over time.

Using the opportunity, I would like anyone who's made over 3 troll threads to be killable in peace zones.

I like how when someone made a thread about getting a strike on their account but not being told what it was regarding, the vast majority of this community dogpiled the OP and siad surely they must have done something wrong if they'd been reported. But now that we're talking about using reports to pvp rmt bots, suddenly we're all unanimously concerned about the report system being illegitimate and used to grief. I hope this energy carries over when the next "I've been gaol'd for naughty language but they won't tell me what I said" thread gets written (it won't). The contrarianism here is so predictable it's almost boring.

And for the record, OP's idea is bad but only because killing someone doesn't shut them up. If I kill a bot, it can keep spamming. We need a better solution. Like an active moderation team present to purge these things that pop up in the same places over and over again. Don't care what you call this squad. Take some of this game's revenue, right? And instead of spending it on another game that's gonna flop, spend it securing the actual game earning you consistent profits. Crazy shit, yeah.

Because the OP's idea refers to a set number of reports initiating an automatic activation of a system, which is something that can be easily abused and has immediate results. Take for example New World's hilarious drama about entire guilds mass reporting enemy players during PVP to instantly get them temp banned and thus, removed from the fight. The tactic was so overpowered that PVP devolved into report wars for a bit.

Contrast your topic, where it wouldn't matter if 100 sent in reports against a person, the GM would have to agree with the reports and believe there is actual substance for action to be taken, meaning there's a human element involved instead of automation, thus the ability for it to be abused is far intensely lower since the GM intervention requirement shuts down anyone sending in stupid reports. If someone gets sent to the Gaol, it meant one person believed that person did something against the ToS, and a GM agreed. Meaning it was a 2 v 1 on opinions, so its an easy stretch for people to believe the OP did something bad when a GM of all people agreed with the report.

They're not the same scenario and thus, people can have differing opinions on the topics presented.

How are you going to attack people who are several meters below the ground?

Like ... if this is how human like to game, I think playing with braindead AI would be more fun.

i think the best would be to develop a AI that recognize such words and behavioral activities, such as standing in one position, constant use of the same phrases , etc .
then after triggering the AI send them to the prison instance and have a GM authenticate that said character is in fact a RMT bot , at least IMO

/say is needed for some MSQ quests...thats kinda not a good idea.

SE needs to bring back the GBHs from FFXI (Goblin Bounty-Hunters).

Even though the bots/RMT quickly figured out the shortcomings in the GBHs' script and so found loopholes around their agro range to exploit. Was still fun to watch them slaughter fishing bots either way.

We need that back here in FFXIV.

I'm sure that would not be abused to unlawfully target people you don't like.

It could just make it so other players can't actually see your dialogue until you pass a certain early portion of the story as opposed to actually preventing you from using /say.

...Though considering they already have complete MSQ bots that will do everything from 2.0 though 6.0 without any player input, it probably wouldn't deter them even if it takes them a while to get a RMT spambot going.

se already enables mass report witch hunting. last thing this game needs is some stupid sanctioned pk mechanic on top of that.

If you manage to actually get OOB a quick trip to your home aetheryte might not be the worst thing even.
