Strider Boots and Hermes' Shoes

That topic about mounts in cities and a toggle for sprint got me thinking.

We already have the option to increase the duration of Sprint in city-states: Wearing the Strider Boots or Hermes' Shoes.

But they only increase the duration of Sprint by 10 seconds.

Back when Sprint only had a 30 second cooldown you had an 100% uptime on Sprint when you were wearing the Hermes' Shoes.

Can we have that back?

Please increase the duration of Sprint to 60 seconds when you are wearing the Strider Boots or Hermes' Shoes in city-states.

Also please add the Strider Boots to the next Moogle Treasure Trove to make them widely available.

hermes shoes won't be readded. it was a 1.0 item and people were already up in arms with the earrings that yoshi p added to the first anniversary event. as for the strider boots. its anemos. so unless you want him to pull it out of there and just make it buyable in any city state then people will have to do anemos to farm them. then they would have to change them from untradeable so they could be sold on mb for anyone to acquire.

I don't understand why you think any of that matters. Tint specified Moogle Treasure Trove, which by its nature doesn't care where any of its rewards came from and allows you to get whatever is on its list by spamming completely unrelated content for mogtomes, and doesn't change any of its rewards to be tradable if they were not already.

Or just make run toggle permanently in towns.

You know, Quality of Life.

Make people do eureka for them, it’s not like the game has any better content.

Hermes' Shoes were, specifically, if you held a FFXI sub at the same time after 1.0 released. I have them.

Strider Shoes, yes, come from Eureka, but we've already had items from there come into the moogle tome event. Untradeables are also present in the moogle tome events in the way of mount whistles and TT cards, so it wouldn't matter if they kept that status. They're not as frustrating to get as, say, the Cassie earring or the Cassie minion, but adding them in to the rewards wouldn't be a bad thing since Eureka on some DCs is not as active as Crystal or whatever. It's not unreasonable to ask for just the Strider Boots in this case.

probably easier to add the effect to the sprint we got now but only activates while in a city.

Then SE ripped me off, I had a sub here since beta for 1.0 and never got the Hermes' Shoes.

I never asked to readd Hermes' Shoes to the game or to pull Strider Boots out of Anemos and make them tradeable. Just that they buff them and make the Strider Boots available with the Moogle Tomes so more people can benefit from the then buffed effect. But of course Moogle Treasure Trove is only a temporary event, people who missed that would still have to do Anemos to get the boots.

Yess, but meanwhile they can tweak the numbers on the shoes, way easier than adding a new system to the game. We didn't even got PvP Sprint on our island, but some duty action instead.

We could have that with 6.38 and make the Strider Boots available with the Moogle Treasure Trove before 6.4. Well, theoretically, I know the devs will not read this.

I'm pretty sure the drop rate on those changed to be much higher. I ran a ton of Eureka back when it came out. I think out of my FC, only a small handful of us ever got the drop back in SB. A bunch of us jumped back for "fun" - killed Simurgh twice - dropped to the whole group. Twice. Of course, this could be just insane luck... but going from dozens of kills in 4.X with a few drops among like 20+ people to an entire party getting 16 pairs in two kills?

I don't know some other Eureka items have higher drop rates as well. Maybe?

As for sprint... there aren't many places you need to go to in town that takes more than 20s from aetheryte to NPC/location. Frankly, I think Strider boots are a waste. We don't have a macro to /equip feet "Strider Boots" to put them on ANY job. We have to make a gearset to put them on - meaning, I'd have to switch jobs to utilize them. If there is a way to /equip feet, please correct me.

You had to link your PlayOnline account to your SE account. On top of that it was given to only 1 character and not an account perk like some of the other stuff from back then.

Eureka is peak content.

Even to this day it is more rewarding than any other piece of long term content in the game :D

Need Gil? Bunny fates.
Need Glam? Elemental sets.
Need that raiding itch to be scratched? BA.

Oh.. and the gear obtained in Eureka actually HELPS you in Eureka. CHARACTER PROGRESSION! OMG

That explain it since my first characters is on JP servers. Other part think tried to link them and gave up since not good at that type of stuff.

If pvp sprint will let you run endlessly, why can't sprint do that in town?
If island sprint can refresh as often as you run, why can't sprint do that in town?

But sure, I'd like the boots to work just being in invintory, if I have to pick a small and possible dream.

Because they are completely different skills. In PvP areas your normal skills are exchanged for a set of PvP actions, in Island Sanctuary you still have access to your normal sprint, but also get the additional duty action for sprinting.

To make that work in a city-state they either have to add a duty action when you are in a city, or exchange the sprint action with a different skill, which then automatically has to be replaced on your hotbar every time you enter or leave a city.

Of course the more elegant solution would be to increase the duration of the normal sprint. The duration is shorter in combat, only 10 seconds, and longer when you are wearing the mentioned shoes, 30 seconds. So it should be possible to add another line to the code which asks if you are in a city-state and when it says yes the duration will be increased to 60 seconds.

But programming all that takes time and my expectations are low. I will rather ask for the thing which takes less effort, since the system is already in place: Buffing the Strider Boots and Hermes' Shoes.

It would also be a good first step and bandaid fix before we can have a proper endless sprint.

Honestly, removing sprint with a cast time and make it a constant icon (unless in battle) would be a better fit. They do it in PVP already. So cut down both the button bloat and the sprint feature

So, if you didn't make a FFXIV account under the same SE account as your XI account and did not have an active Content ID that wasn't a free trial or cancelled, you wouldn't get the item. If you had an active service account and added the XIV one to the same service account, you got the shoes.

While I applaud your enthusiasm - everything mentioned is only usable within Eureka. The rest is glam. And I know "glam is the end-game" there isn't much application for Eureka outside of it. And this is coming from someone that thoroughly enjoyed Eureka and thought it was a great addition to the game.

Also Eureka glams are hardly for everyone, no style of glam is, as someone who enjoys femme dresses and cute outfits, not a single Eureka glam works for me.
