Try out Siren on Aether. Granted your server doesn't matter because you can server visit.
Look up fellowships and find the RP one by Cosprei, should have discord info too idr. But we have a heavy focus on story driven rp and not venue style rp. Our characters develop and grow through the scenes we run and we run anything from random scenes with a couple people to scheduled scenes with a lot of attendees to full blown plot stories.
Imagine it sort of like D&D rp, as a very basic description that doesn't go into as much depth as really needed. Kind of... stage play-like.
Hit us up if interested.
yea that sounds cool, i may have to start there and hit you guys up. it definitely sounds like it could be fun
the biggest RP data center is Crystal in NA, especialy Balmung and Mateus. but yeah, if u have char in NA, u can just visit any DC in that region.
As long as you are on an NA data center, you can use the World Visit or Data Center Travel system to reach Balmung and other Crystal worlds. There are restrictions when visiting worlds other than your own, but not many, so you can still RP.
There should be no such thing as "a good RP server", all servers are equal. This is why Crystal is congested. Stop trying to make characters there and make them on Dynamis, and use DC travel to play on any other server you like.
Every server has players who RP. There is no pressing need to get "in" with the popular crowd of RPers on Crystal. There is no prestige to RPing on Crystal. You don't need to RP with popular streamers or influencers.
RPing with popular streamers and influencers? is that a thing?
No, it sounds like he doesn't know what RP is.
It is not about being with the popular crowd. It is about being with a crowd at all. People who RP generally want to be around other people who do RP so there are plenty of people to RP with.
It has nothing to do with prestige or any such silliness, but has everything to do with the simple fact that to do RP you need to be where other RPers are.
This. I'd love it if Zodiark had a better RP scene. But there aren't that many people interested in it. Venues are just afk spaces for people to loop dance emotes. I know Omega was considered for a while to be the Balmung of EU, but I don't think it ever reached the same numbers or style overall. People still flocked over to the Crystal Datacenter regardless, because that's where roleplaying was happening.
Doesn't it? To me it feels obvious. You can't single-handedly kickstart an entire roleplay scene in other servers, especially when roleplay is already limited as it is. It's a lot easier to just go where it already exists.
Omega tried it and failed. People still went to where roleplaying existed. Maybe the reason they did so is because Balmung has history: People see Balmung as the ERP world, the place where roleplaying is far more accepted and developped. The Las Vegas of Final Fantasy XIV.
Sure, you can try to make it elsewhere, but it'll be hard and you'll have to first gauge how many people are invested in it. I did a minor attempt at this myself on Zodiark but it didn't work. People with an interest did express enjoyment but were scattered and too far few in numbers. And most people who want to roleplay don't expect venues to actually accomodate that, so it's even more stunted. Because they aren't going to be actively looking or expecting venues to be a place to roleplay. Most just end up giving up or not even trying to interact at all.
So the reason you can't get other servers to have a bigger RP scene is because the majority is going to Crystal since it's firmly established there. Hence why it's always congested. And attempting to do that, even with a collective effort from the community, is going to take a lot and needs to be sustained. Omega stopped trying a few months after opening up.
idk man, ive been here since the start and ive never once heard of people rping with "popular streamers and influencers," people just come here because theres established rp groups with minimal trolls. to some people, being in an active rp FC or LS is fun and desirable. starting your own group takes a lot of effort, and most people do not have time to do that.
Your best bet is Crystal. I feel like on Primal most RP is people afking in clubs (that all look similar, btw) and using bee knees. Or your old cafe that is almost always the same thing.
There shouldn't. But, there is. They are asking the best option, they're not asking how to find RP inside their own server. This isn't about prestige, it is about looking what place RIGHT NOW gives you the biggest amount of options.
Avoid Balmung and Mateus like the plague unless you wish to spend all of your time "gposing" in venues.
Even though Balmung is kinda known as the RP server (ERP might be more accurate, though), I find that the Aether data center has a much stronger venue scene.
The reason Balmung and thus Crystal is so crowded isn't just because of the RP scene. It's because it is a SOCIAL server. Even people like me who don't RP at all love the place simply cause...well people talk. There are actual conversations.
Who knew an MMO could be a place to socialize? That's what gives us longevity between patches and what not. We don't finish the patch in a day and that's it. We actually keep each other company. They could stop releasing content completely and Balmung would still be locked due to the social aspect alone.
I think Balmung will be your best bet. Lot's of people RP at the adventurer's guild in Ul'dah.
