Lorewise, is it explained how we can return to those zones? (EW spoilers)

I think with previous expansions, there are reasonable explanations on how we can return to the previous zones. (Exclude repeatable dungeons or trials).

I haven't finished 6.1-6.3 yet so maybe it's explained later on, but I'm looking at World Unsundered and Ultima Thule, there's really no good lore explanations on how we can be returning to those places, are there?

The reason I'm asking is because they spent so much time in ShB to explain how WoL can travel back and forth and how to return to the First to visit those places.

I guess maybe this is a question more for roleplayers, of course average player probably don't really care so much.

For Roleplayers, do you visit these 2 EW places, and how do you justify it? Do you just build scenarios that these are memories we are visiting back in time, etc or any creative ideas?

It's explained how we re-access these zones in the intro quests for The Stigma Dreamscape and Pandaemonium respectively.

Stigma Dreamscape is 6.0, and Pandaemonium is 6.01. Both are basically launch content.

Elpis' explanation amounts to 'yeah that portal's still open'; it's not much of an explanation, but also doesn't need to be. Ultima Thule's is a bit more involved.

Since you asked roleplayers, though... I don't think I know a single person who has decided to set a scene in either of those places, and I know quite a lot of them as an RP venue owner. Granted I don't make a habit of asking, but most people's character stories just don't really stretch out that far, people generally prefer more... well, terrestrial plotlines. I've seen one person whose description says they're playing an Omicron, but I haven't talked to them enough to find out what their angle is.

Got it, no worries, I knew it was reaching, but anyway it's clear now I'll just complete the remaining MSQs first then.

Story wise, I don't think there is an expectation that we can return to Elpis. For gameplay purposes we have to be able to go back there whenever we like, but it seems pretty clear that the intent was for it to be a one-time trip, although you were able to reawaken the portal with the Pandæmonium crystal.

If you really needed to explain your ability to teleport back there at will, you could probably say that aetherytes operate across spacetime and not just physical space. If you attuned to that aetheryte 12,000 years objectively earlier than all the other aetherytes you've attuned to, then that is when-and-where it will take you when you teleport to it.

I've seen some people roleplaying Ancients in Elpis. And personally, I think it would be really in the spirit of the zone to turn the Last Dregs into a roleplay space, though I don't think there's really an interest in doing that sort of thing in public nowadays.

I only know Ancient RPers exist by hearsay, really; I've never met one, it seems more popular among fanfic writers. But in that case they basically take the opposite direction towards not caring about justification to access Elpis; they don't need to explain how they time-travelled, because they're supposed to be there.

At one point you can ask how the ship can be in both places at once.

The guy looks at YOU and says, "don't think about it".

Didn't they kind of say that the ship is Quantum entangled or something as to how the ship is in two places at once? Either way the moon bunnies told the WoL not to think too hard about that. Just now anyone who wants to know how it is to visit Ultima Thule can do so.

The one thing the game doesn't explain is how we grow and un grow while traveling to and from Elpis. Unless we want to say any time you pass the point in time the sundering you end back being small or something. While when you go back the other way whatever Emet Selch did to make you more solid and bigger kicks into effect each time.

I always assumed each quest in every area takes place exactly after they unlock. That's why in Gridania for a level 5ish quest you will be "the new adventurer" while the player might have already done all the current MSQ.

It was mostly Meteion also being shrunk that made me question that my first time around, but that's a very good point. We never actually lost the aether Emet-selch imparted to us when we came back through time, so we should still be extra large and in charge.

This is more so when you're doing the Studium quests and the person you're helping out is all "Oh man if only I could get my hands on a fish or some minerals or a plant that existed in a time before the Sundering or from a different planet" and the WoL tells them not to worry because they can go and obtain said item. Or get something and craft it into an item to show how the supple the wood grains are or whatever. Or if you need to whack a tree south of Poienten Oikos post MSQ for the Elpis only treasure map or so you can craft an imitation wooden skylight from Ironwood lumber. Not you know dealing with the time bubble and running into pre 2.55 Nanamo via the culinarian quests.

My thoughts.

Elpis: The portals still open in the Crystal Tower, so you can get back to Elpis that way. Teleports to Elpis probably slingshots your aether round a really convoluted route of Source -> First -> Portal in the Tower -> Elpis.

Ultima Thule: Your spaceship is quantum entangled there or something. Probably Thancred's fault, he was the first to shape the area with dynamis, I guess he accidentally made it a permanent part of the area when he was sorting out some physical land and breathable atmosphere.
