Request: Add modified variant dungeons to standard dungeon roulette

Since we went down to one standard dungeon per patch, the level cap and expert roulettes have been lacking in variety. Meanwhile, the effort is going into building variant dungeons, but they are locked off as their own separate content.

Would it be possible to take the variant dungeon and reconfigure it into a standard dungeon that could go in the standard roulette? Perhaps unlocked by completing the variant dungeon itself.

As for layout, perhaps you could run each of the three paths in sequence, returning back to the main hub between each path – similar to how Matoya's Relict is arranged. Take out the midboss of course, or start each route from after the midboss chamber rather than the beginning.

The puzzles and variable boss skills would probably have to be taken out, but maybe it could just pick from all the skills randomly instead of being locked into one.

Edit to be clear: I mean in addition to the variant dungeon format, not replacing it. I thoroughly enjoyed puzzling out the various paths, and would like to revisit it more regularly.

I quite like the sound of this. A little bit of randomness mixed into what would otherwise be a wholly scripted experience sounds rather refreshing.

The difficulty level isn't any different to a standard dungeon, just with slightly different mechanisms, and there was much (and largely positive) discussion of it when it came out. That indicates to me that a lot of people were doing it.

Are you confusing it with the "criterion dungeon" extra-hard boss rush?

I said "perhaps", but there isn't really any other logical way to unlock such a thing, when the dungeon is all tied up in the separate quest for the variant dungeon itself. This hypothetical thing would be like a shadow of that dungeon experience, reconfigured for the standard roulette, but you can't go over the quests a second time.

It wouldn't be a huge imposition to expect people to complete it once to unlock the roulette version. No different in the end to setting an optional standard dungeon.

I have to disagree simply because I hate the duty roulette. The roulettes are the reason everyone complains about everything and all content gets dumbed down to the point where everything feels lobotomized. It wasn’t a good system, and the accessibility and convenience it’s brings also killed the social aspect of the game because now everyone can silently make others put up with them and then they can complain about it online.

It has turned every single piece of content from a treat to a chore everyone is rushing about and being toxic to anyone that doesn’t hurry up and shut up.

So no, honestly I think it should be discontinued altogether even thought this will never happen, but anything I can spare from that bottomless pit I would. All it’s gonna do is turn it into a mindless corridor like everything else in there.

Typical roulette mentality: oh you want to kills those mobs in order to open that extra room? Hell no! Stfu and hurry up noob. Quit disrespecting my time.

At least when it’s. A premade there’s already a small bond between the players and they are more amenable and friendly with each other.

No. I hope we get a Variant Dungeon roulette (that can still be solo'd, duo'd etc.) by itself.

Well, yes that is technically what I am asking for – the dungeon adapted into the linear hallway structure of a standard dungeon to put it in the roulette.

Everything else you've written seems irrelevant to this. Your dislike of the roulette will be the same whether there are two or three dungeons included in it. Even assuming you are correct in thinking it's not a good thing for the game overall, it's a horse that has long bolted and I greatly doubt we would ever be rid of it, so it might as well have as much variety as can be managed.

I mean to some degree you are correct, except the last part. It’s going in the opposite direction. Why would you want more corridors? Even the Devs themselves are releasing less of these, not more. Like wouldn’t the investment be better spent doing something more creative? I realize I sound jaded but I also want variety like you, it’s just I don’t feel this is the answer. I want something better than these crumbs.

Because the roulette has you go through one corridor per day for levelling purposes, and a bigger variety of them is still variety.

I wouldn't be asking for more built from scratch, but when they've constructed the dungeon already and at least theoretically all that needs doing is sticking three bits of it end-to-end to create a linear version. It's already built as a series of hallway segments, essentially. (I'm sure it would take more work than that, but the basic design of the hallways, monster spawns and bosses is already there.)

It would allow this to come up in the regular roulette instead of only when you deliberately queue for the one specific dungeon.

Let's wait for them to add more variants and get a roulette from that. :)

I think it's pretty okay to assume that most have stepped into variants at least once. You'd be correct when it comes to the majority has never fully *completed* all 12 paths though. Silky mount is sitting somewhere around 21% of the game population that acquired it.

They considered this but it came down to people will just choose they quickest path and people will more likely leave/run the dungeon far less unless they do this to every dungeon...

Then just reward people for the time it takes, nobody said that it needs to take twice as long as a normal dungeon but still only give 50 tomestones.

MSQ gives 350 base tomestones, that's why people endure the time. Had one whiner the other day bitching that it took too long, and they should allow cutscene-skipping if a majority wanted, and the rest of the group told him to can it. He picked Main Scenario, he didn't have to pick that particular one, and there's several other roulettes.

So, sure, they could up the rewards a bit for the time and risks taken, for this thread subject.

That's why I'm saying to make a reconstructed linear version out of it, rather than the original choice of paths.

They'd have to really, really made a good linear path, if your idea does go through.
but in that case they'd basically give a segment of the work for free.
Which people are to either set it up themselves, or if it goes through, just spam the roulette.

If it works, it works. but I don't have faith it will.
Unless people build a Variant Etiquette to allow the original Queue'r to lead. but at that point, they'd have to know what they want to do.(not all will)

if anything, I'll take the Roulette for when there is more Variants added, like another Said.

Best of luck to the devs on figuring out a merging of roulettes, if they do try to mix them in.<I do not see success, but would not deny them trying. they will weigh the pain and ease. and our reactions to it>

I honestly have a question for this thread. Because it is asking for more linear dungeons. Are linear dungeons actually something people look forward to in this game? Do they really enjoy them and hope that this is the future direction of the game?

Or is this something that we are settling for because we live in the hopes that the devs find it easy enough to throw us a bone since it may not be that much work?

I just can't help but feel that if they keep doing this its going to kill the game. The dungeons are very stale and even though it's geared to new players those are a finite resource as well. I just want to make sure we don't inadvertently encourage the devs to keep feeding us the same thing to temporarily cure out boredom when this isn't even the path we want this game to take in the future.

I sure don't. But if this is genuinely what people want then it's a completely valid take and by all means I guess devs should focus on this. I hope in 7.0 to see if the game's direction does start to change. If it's another rinse and repeat cycle I won't be excited for 10 more years of the same.

See I enjoyed Sanctuary Island, I mean a new concept to the game, as in it wasn't just another copy of things. It was just a different experience. However, I'm not excited for the new Deep dungeon if it's just going to be reskinned POTD #3.

I think they should add the large-scale raids, e.g., Delubrum Reginae, Castrum Lacus Litore, and Dalriada, long before Variant dungeons, as great an addition it may be.

Bruh, a coked out chimp can solo variant dungeons. Anyone that feels this constitutes being locked out should probably just go find some fish to mine.
