How many jobs can you decently gear up?

So basically I mainly play tank, and I have been playing Samurai only as DPS.

Been starting to enjoy MCH long before 6.3 and I was wondering if I could keep both DPS with decent gear since I want to keep playing them as DPS.

I read that you can only have one job with the best gear and the rest will have to wait a long time to get to that level. So I was wondering if there was something I did wrong because outside of the latest tomestones and raids, I don’t see what are my other options.

Best gear is best.

Decently geared jobs are infinite if you're willing to grind tomestones and/or run raids. You can do any content in currently uncapped accessibility gear.

You do not need BIS to do endgame content.

Depending on your money supply and playtime, "decent" gear (which IMO would be pre-Savage BiS or close to it), isn't too hard to get. You should also include crafted items buyable off the MB/guildmates as options. There's also Euphrosyne which can fill a spot with a nice item (I wish the Healer chest piece existed for me lol). Can run T5E for weapon, which IIRC is better in ILevel to the Relic?

I don't know, what you mean with "decent". I made easily job gears over 610 for all jobs. Since there is no restriction (besides the weapon) for Abyssos anymore, you can easily farm 610 gear here. You can also go into the new dungeon and farm 605 gear here.

For armor, you can buy 610 ilvl crafted gear from the marketplace, and while not ideal in high end content, is still decent enough.
You can buy dharmic rain (from Radz-at-han) to upgrade the 610 ilvl crafted gear to 620. You need 1000 tomestones of astronomy (10 dharmic rains) to upgrade all your crafted accessories to ilvl 620, and another 1900 tomestones of astronomy (19 dharmic rains) to upgrade all your armor to ilvl 620.

For weapons, you can buy a 615 ilvl relic weapon that costs 1,500 tomestones of astronomy, but you need to complete all Manderville quests to unlock the relic quest.
A crafted ilvl 610 weapon can be upgraded to ilvl 620 with 7 dharmic rains, so 700 tomestones of astronomy.
You can also clear Abyssos: The Eighth Circle raid once a week for 4 times and get a ilvl 620 weapon from collecting Unsung Blades of Abyssos from those clears and 500 tomestones of causality (450 weekly cap).

If you're completely strapped for cash, you can just grind the current Abyssos raids for free ilvl 610 gear since it's uncapped, and do Euphrosyne alliance raid for one ilvl 610 gear piece a week.

So ilvl 620 is completely doable within 1-2 months depending on how much you're willing to grind, with ilvl 620 is great for any current content, sans current ultimate.

While you're grinding (roulettes and such) you'll also get causality tomestones that you can exchange for ilvl 620 gear, that can be upgraded to ilvl 630 gear by exchanging an Aglaia coin and a Euphrosyne coin (a weekly drop from those raids) for a moonshine twine/brine (again, in Radz-at-han). So you can get low 620+ pretty easily as well.

With crafted gear being 'decent' your only limit is gil. Excluding that, if you need at least some tome/raid gear, I'd say 2-3 jobs at any given time. 2 for serious content, 3 if they happen to include Ninja and Phys Ranged who share accessories.

By decent, I was thinking of gear that would allow the use of a job in savage raids.

I’ve been super casual due to work and real life stuff I have to solve first, but I’m planning on doing savage at some point. I was curious if you could only tunnel vision one job or have at least 1 main and 2 alts being able to do the same content.

I haven’t paid much attention to the ilvl required, so apologies if the question was blurry in the details in regards to what «decent» meant to me.

Just one. End thread. You would have to spend a month or two acquiring weekly gear for other classes. You can only ideally gear up one class at any given time unless a class uses the same stats and can be shared between classes.

Not true, “decent” does not mean BiS and you can get decent crafted gear for pretty much every job. That gear can also be augmented to 620 (not needed for “ decent”) for those who wish to and/or have enough coins.

Savage always started with crafted plus a tome accessory and people were clearing. Now they've been holding savage off for a week, so people can get something slightly better.

We're now in the second half of the savage tier's cycle and the crafted gear can catch up to savage drops, so you would be off to a decent start if you had the resources to jump into upgraded crafted (620).

You could go as far as Crated gear, pentamelded for every class on a character.
Now you can't perfectly pentameld for every class, Paladin wants something slightly different than a warrior. Even DRG and Reaper want something slightly different in skill speed.

So you can have, as a starting point, "perfect" gear, one set for each set of equipment. Scouting, Fending, ect. That's 620.

Not good enough?

Fine, wear that, do the current EX, get a lot of tokens and chests, and you can get 625 weapons on every class. Might not be better then perfectly pentamelded, but might be better then the wrong meldings on your off characters, this brings everybody back up to power level, assuming perfect play.

Next step? Well, the weekly limited tomestone gets you 620 gear, and then you could ride along with hunt trains to get the nuts to upgrade it to 630 gear. So the limitation here is 450 tomestones per week. This won't get you a full set. So lets assume you've got friends at the same unlimited power potential. So you run savage, and they give you the coffer from all four, that's four more pieces of 630. Call it two weeks to get one nearly perfect set. Again, you can't QUITE perfect a set for more then one class per type, so you'd have either a perfect paladin or a perfect warrior. So, to get all 7 to the top, we're talking the entire length expected between patches, about 4 months.

Next step? It's ultimate season. TOP performance jokes aside, in theory if you play perfectly, you could be on an ultimate team with that level of gear, and farm ultimate weapons for every job as well. Wont' be noticeably better then the weapon from the savage circle, but it'll be shiny, and typically while not enough better to be worth it, come on... eveybody wants it.

You can buy crafted and play on as many classes as you want for savage in the beginning, but eventually you will have to choose whom to give your drops to. Eventually, you can trickle down your gear to one other class. But it's not a quick process.

Savage doesn't require BiS, given that you acquire most of your BiS gear through Savage.
Therefore 'able to play Savage' qualifies as 'decently' geared.
If you can manage Savage purely through crafted gearn then that counts.

If people start requiring higher ilvl in tgeir PFs, start your own. People play this game at different paces, there will always be someone who's finished progging but isn't BiS yet.

This doesn't mean you cannot DO the content though. If the ask is "can I have viable gear for all my classes to do endgame content" the answer is YES.

Just because people will poopoo your Iscore doesn't mean you cannot do the content.

So your statement that all classes can do endgame content is incorrect.

OP asked if he could decently gear up multiple classes at the same time for Savage and the answer is primarily no. You can only gear up one.

Now. If you have infinite time and infinite gil then yes you can gear up every job no problem until you hit the weekly gated loot tables at which point you can only feasibly gear up one job at any given time.

Thus exposing the you can play any job but can only gear up one for what it truly is.

Now what you could do is just skip 6.0 content until 7.0 and then you can feasibly gear up all classes in a few hours with just Poetics. It's an option but a long ways off.

If you want to do the "best DPS" and be the "best player you can be" (DPS-wise), then it is a combination of BiS gear and executing your rotation at the highest level. The latter you can work on with any iLvl gear. The former required raiding (initially) or now the 24-man weekly token and/or hunt marks (minus the weapon). There is a marked difference between a BiS player performing at the highest level and someone with i620 gear. However, the necessity for BiS gear is fairly limited.

Well, of course there is. That goes without saying. A better correlation would be a player in i620 gear performing optimally vs a player on the same job in BiS performing suboptimal. ilv requirements to enter a duty are typically much less than the requirement set by the players themselves. They can do this in hopes to reduce the pool of incompetent players, but they will also cut out a portion of players who are perfectly capable of holding their own weight as well. The necessity of BiS is determined by the party leader, not the game.

And no you don't need infinite time and Gil, just run the raid, do the tomestone grinds and don't depend on gear to shore up your mistakes.

There is a point where if you want every single job to be geared for current endgame you're going to hit time constraints, but it's not about picking ONE and only one job.

everyone can have crafted HQ pentamelded, enough for every content.
in 4 months you have enough tomestones for 2 full sets
in 4 months you have hmm 128 rolls of savage gear (maybe more) let's say 16 pieces of equip and 2-3 upgrades for tomestone equip.

So, if I did not do abyssmal errors you can BiS 3 jobs and HQ pentamelded the others.
in 1-3-5 you can easily BiS the others.

Best? Probably 2 roles (roles not classes). Decent? All of them, easily.

Now you're just being a troll and removing any credibility you want in the process. It is absolutely doable to have multiple classes capable of doing endgame content. Heck, I only play a few hours a week and I have a tank, a healer, and a DPS all in the 618-620 range, which is more than enough to do "endgame" content if I wanted to get into it. The issue is more that the OP mentioned both "decent" and "best" gear in the same post, which are two different things. Only one class will reasonably have the "best" gear, but you can absolutely gear up as many as you want in sufficiently "decent" gear to do endgame content.

And even if some PF groups start asking for higher gear levels than needed, there will also be those not requiring it that someone could join.

(PS: BLU is specifically called a "limited job." It's side content, not an actual "class" to be semantic about.)

Decent gear is really the crafted rinascita sets which you can augment them to ilv620 by turning them in and using tomestones to buy the rains to do so, which isnt a hard thing to do if you do roulettes or pvp.

Lunar gear sets gotten from the green tomestones are also still good for decent, and theres the one gear drop from Euphrosyne as well.

Basically any gear piece with an ilv600 is what I refer to as "decent".

Between crafting and simply taking time to do tomes, all of them.

I have every job between 615-620 (no upgrades to 630, I don't savage raid)

That's enough to do 90% of the content in the game.

My healers are in a mix of 620/630. I think I got 610 for my tanks, my casters are in a mixmatch of 620/590, and everything else is in 590.

I don't think I'd ever buy crafted for anything besides my healers, but slowly over time I've patched up my other jobs gear sets. Oh, and also I think I'm 1-2 weapons off having all of the manderville relics as they are now. This is pretty much all weeklies.

3 role bis (healers, tanks, drg + rpr) when ultimate available, 2-3 jobs when not
rest is max ilevel -5 or -10

If you have a casual but good static, you can gear everything if you play through the tier. You can absolutely do tank/healer/and a couple of DPS. If you don't raid, just running Expert and Alliance Raids will cover all three roles at the very least. This is before you get into crafted gear, which is trading gil for less time spent gearing up.

OP, you have 9 90's and are an omni crafter.

Nha. You can get ONE per equipment type, given the 4 months between changes of gear.

One tank, one healer, One Ninja, one DRG/Reaper, One Mnk/Sam, One Ranged DPS, and one Caster. (and then blu to it's own personal best, special deviant it is using a separate set).

Honestly, if you wanted to be even MORE obsessive, you could put together two tanks, one using savage gear, and one using upgraded tomestone gear... though I wouldn't try that with any other set of gear.

Okay, this is a much more ... reasonable view of things. My calculation was based on "could" as in you "COULD" talk all your best friends into giving you all the gear if you really wanted it bad enough.


Oh, and to add to that list, hunt trains for nuts can get you a bit MORE of the upgrade items.

Unless you're part of the group that clears Savage tiers within the first week, all jobs will be lagging behind their potential BiS from the very beginning. It takes a minimum of 8 weeks to max out a single job in BiS.

But you can get second BiS a lot faster than that, and the second BiS is all you need to actually clear that Savage content.

Prioritize BiS for the job you use in endgame, and then your secondary job can get the leftovers and be a mix of BiS and "very very good."

In non current content, iLvl is synced anyway. So it's only the current tier where BiS even comes into play.

This is true (it better be, since you need to do endgame content to get BIS in the first place, due to that twisted setup that only MMOs do best lol. Remember the olden days when ultimate gear was designed to get you ready for ultimate challenges, rather than being handed out as a reward for same when you usually have little or nothing left to do with it? Is the Wyrmhero Blade really a good model for game gearing? LOL).

On the other hand, if you don't have BIS or close to BIS, eventually, it becomes harder and harder to get a decent party, especially if you're pugging (... which you probably are at that point, because almost all statics these days are the "start of the tier" kind, and getting one together later on in a patch is often harder than any mechanic). We teach people that crafted (especially when it becomes augmented crafted) and tomestone gear is good enough, but do groups listen, ever?

So then you have to start your own group, and by the time it fills, that's half the evening gone - and with today's heavily back loaded mechanics ...

The problem isn't the gear. It's the player culture. Fix that and you fix a lot of things about this game.

By the end of a Savage tier cycle, I usually have 2 BIS jobs (different job types) as well as around 7 other well geared ones because gear can be shared between job types : Fending, Maiming, Striking, Scouting, Aiming, Casting, Healing.

22 weeks in Abyssos, my DRG and SAM are BIS, which means my RPR and MNK are also very well equipped if I get them a lvl 630 weapon. My BLM is now ilvl 629, so my SMN and RDM are also well geared. I’m currently working on Aiming gear for my MCH so by the time it’s leveled up, it should be around 625, which, again, means my DNC and BRD will also have good gear (once I level them up).

Here’s how I manage my gear if you’re interested :

On even patches (new Savage tier): I focus on 2 different job types (mainly my main first) using Savage/Tome/Crafted gear.

On odd patches (new 24-man raid), I start to gear a 3rd job type by using 24-man raid gear/Augmented Tome gear/Augmented Crafted gear/excess Savage gear.

You just need to diligently cap your tomes and do your weekly Savage reclears every week. Easy PZ.
