1.0-Archer
2.0-Warrior
3.0-Dragoon
4.0-Monk/Samurai
5.0-Dark Knight
6.0-Paladin
7.0-??
My money is on Bard. They are in need of a remake on the levels of Summoner and it would sort of drive home that the journey is off to a new start.

I'd like to believe they would go with black mage, it's high time a caster got some love as a poster child
It depends on what the theme for the next expansion will actually be, as Derplander's class choice in the trailers/propaganda for each expansion reflects that:
GLA/ARC for 1.0 representing a common choice of starting class a new adventurer might take up, and specifically showing him switching from GLA to ARC was meant to show the Armoury System at work.
WAR for 1.0's 'end' and into ARR as becoming the 'Warrior of Light'
DRG for HW representing the struggle against the dragons and the expansion being based around Ishgard
MNK and SAM for SB referencing Ala Mhigo and Doma/Hingashi and the Far East
DRK for ShB representing the 'Warrior of Darkness' moniker they took in the First to drive back the Eternal Light
PLD for EW to serve as a 'knight in shining armour', a beacon of light and hope in overwhelming darkness and despair of the Final Days (and also coming full circle back to 1.0 with GLA being his starting class, given PLD upgrades from GLA)
So whatever the next expansion will have as it's central theme or premise will undoutably serve as the 'poster class' for that.
Due to not yet knowing anything about the next expansion at this time, it's perhaps not really possible to speculate about what that might be, but ignore my defeatism in that regard. ;)
I'm putting money on it for once being a healer, namely Astrologian. Why? Because it's simple, nobody knows what will happen now that 6.0's story is done. Whatever happens in 7.0 may help us "divinate" what the overarching plot for "Season 2" will be.
Whatever the new job is.
It's always been a melee, so I'm going to go with Rogue/Ninja.
With characters going their separate ways and the WoL maybe leaning more towards taking up the mantle of Azem, being a traveller and wayfarer, on a journey to visit [The] New Worlds... a rogue seems fitting.
I'm so banking hard on the new class being Geomancer but we'll see
A Physical Melee or Tank obviously.
Given what seems to be getting setup so far for the new story I’d say reaper is a high possibility. A new job is also a strong candidate. Possibly a healer or caster just for some variety but that’s a long shot unless the story goes in a direction that makes it thematically appropriate.
new Scouter should be Corsair.
Swashbuckle gauge builds up from melee attacks then unleashes multiple gun shots finishing with cannon fire.
We need a secondary scout so it isnt just ninja benefitting from those gearpieces/glam.
Also I hate the Mudra system but would love a job that lets me use the sweet Crystarium coat or the Bozjan nin set.
A secondary rotation for Corsair would be Gambler (ie pirate booty/skeevy dens of traded info based on boozing and cardplay) but unlike Ast which strictly buffs allies Corsair would instead flipflop like ffx2 Lady Luck. Some cardplays would debuff enemies, some would attack, maybe one play buffs or heals the party.
Im thinking corsair hides a card up its sleeve with every full melee or gun rotation, rather than having a Draw type action. When you get 2-5 cards you get different actions.
5 cards would always be best but 2 would result in minor healing around the corsair (idk 200 potency) or a mild aoe, same potency.
I figure if we get one last REAL caster it wont be geomancer bc geo exists in the Ast storyline and they use basically the same skills. Next caster could be Illusionist from the ivalice games.
Unfortunately, they've ingrained a lot of elements from other classes/jobs into the ones that exist, so adding something else in a similar vein could be seen at redundant by the devs. That's not to say that Geomancer and other jobs with similar thematic elements to current ones couldn't happen, but I do feel that it is highly unlikely. If I am proven wrong in the future, then that's fine. Great, even.
Wol finally REALLY breaks off from the scions and needs to take better care of himself or new allies. Scholar natch unless they decide to be boring and do rdm just bc it has a melee rotation.
Why scholar? The gearsets for scholar arent super feminine like whm/ast, and alphinaud took sage.
Also Wol is the only actual scholar in canon bc hes the only one with access to fairies.
White mage should be. :o
What other classes in particular, like Black Mage and Summoner? The whole idea of Geomancy is to control the earthly elements/weather to damage enemies or buff allies. In traditional FF games, they wield either Bells or Axes; though since axe is already used by Warriors, their weapon of choice would most likely be bells which is still a weapon type unique enough to introduce into FFXIV.
The poster job might also be a brand-new job (Much like how samurai was for SB)
CNJ and WHM share/shared some elements, mostly from the nature aspect, like stone/wind themed spells, Stoneskin and Stone for example, the first of which was removed but is still used by random NPCs. Archer and BRD shares traits with, well, BRD and Ranger. Warrior has Viking-like traits and abilities, all while wielding a giant axe. I could go on, but I think my point has been made. They've combined a lot of past FF jobs into the ones we have now in FF XIV as hybrids of sorts. I'm not opposed to them branching out though. I'm just calling it as I see it.
My hope? Puppet Master. Is it just because I really want that class to be added into the game? Yes.
New job or whatever final boss WoL fights last in this expansion. He stole Elidibus' Paladin job. xD
My bet is on Jobless, very similar to the poster of Newfound adventure with the Wayfarer set
The WoL sets on a journey on the new world/zones and in the trailer can be seen using multiple diciplines they have learned along their adventure
I hardy expect them to do this, but seeing the WoL doing DoL/DoH stuff in the trailer could be a interesting surprise as he interacts with the locals of the new world
If the Void stuff doesn't fade away..,
Maybe BLM(not hoping or anything.)
We have a void when it comes to Scouting, 4th Magic, 4th Ranged.
<thus ain't a request your preferred new class thread.., but>
if we get an exploration Expac then a Scouting Armored Class could work. (Maybe a mix of DoT/Poison Melee, with a but of a Company MCH feel, with a woodsfolk/survivalist/actual Scout-Ranger feel)
We have Dynamis now, thus a new crystal could be brought up to manipulate it in a combat way.< Be it Charged/Armored/Shelled PhysAttackd. or a Mage. Don't know how that'll ever fit a Melee let alone a Scout, but its possible. whilst a Dynamis wielding Mage would have alot to quicken and fill out to dynamis potential when it comes to combat lore only.>
As for any existing or alluding class, preferably not, while some existing disciplines could be molded, a certain special Roe that had his head shaved is really the closest thing to be considered for making a new class from my pov.
<too many of the existing/referenced NPC classes tend to Lead to more structural/defense like shielding buildings/lands. and not very combat leaning despite its existence in combat in other FFs>
but that's just my pov.
I hope SE does a good job in how they present the next poster job.
I think it will come down to what vibe they want to draw from 7.0. In terms of free exploration and diving deep into the nature and culture of places, I'd have to most suspect Bard, Summoner, or <New Job (especially if the likes of a new Scouting job or an Onmyoji, etc.)>.
If there's a bunch of side-content slated to come out that might involve customization, especially to do with machinery... then, Machinist, which we've yet to see even among Derplander's old parties.
Etc., etc.
If anything, WHM being the poster boy would finally force the devs to design WHM gear with male characters in mind, for once. (well, there's the SB one, but you get what I mean)
That said, it's most likely the new job, namely whatever Krile will become once she takes the spotlight.
im guessing a brand new caster dps
Poster job? Like as what one they will dress generic hooman of light as for the box art? Something with greatswordchucks... >.>
Just imagine the WoL rolling in with these babies! No one could stop us!

Oh it just writes itself!

How about this.....
What if they Remix what they did in Shadowbringers and had the WoL switch between Jobs.
BUT......
They have him in Various different scenes and Settings and areas, showcasing a Different job?
Like for instance, they might showcase Female Hrothgar (copium overload) and have the WoL fighting with / saving a Queen as a Gunbreaker.
But if the Next Expansion takes place during a Flood of Darkness, I wanna think Summoner. I dont think they got any Rep in a Cinematic.
Y'shtola casts the spells that makes the peoples fall down!
AST is supposed to be getting a re-design in 7.0, so I'm hoping we can finally have a healer as the poster class.
If our escapades in the 13th don't get wrapped up with a neat little bow by 6.5 and continue into 7.0 in a major way, I'd fully expect them to use RPR.
