Abilities from Chocoback

I understand that most abilities shouldn't be usable from chocoback, but some of the ones that aren't are really bugging me.

Why would it block access to using my NPC Shellphone? And why on Hydaelyn do I have to dismount to use the node-finding gatherer abilities just to remount and keep on' truckin'?

I'd really like this to be remedied - any others people can think of?

Law Enforcement doesn't want you on your shellphone while driving a chocobo. Can cause increased choco-accidents on the choco-highway. /badjoke

I want Emotes from Chocobacks :)

I want people to be able to receive my teleport offers without being forced to dismount first.

I want my chocobo to shoot laser beams from his eyeballs.

Emotes from chocoback would be really nice, but I think first they should let us do more than 5 emotes while simply sitting.

Using a shellphone while driving is dangerous, and is illegal in all areas in Eorzea.

As for DoL node finders, I just don't use my choco takes a lil longer but I don't wanna keep dismounting to find nodes.

If I could use them on chocoback I probably would use Kfc while gathering.

Do you really want to see someone get killed cause you were using a shellphone while driving? I didn't think so.

It is something that has always bugged me slightly, so I support this.

I made this thread a long time ago about using the node finding abilities on chocobo, and got a response from Rukkirii.

A sprint button with a stamina gauge would be awesome...maybe you can time your sprints to flee past super powerful monsters then...

I wonder how big of a pain it would be to implement the DoL abilities from chocoback. Since the post was made ~8 months ago, I would assume that it is a tad bit more difficult than first thought.

All MMO's ive played have different speed mounts, 90%, 100%, 110% movement speed etc...

I would like to see a faster mount increase for every 5 or 10 levels once we get a level cap increase. Even our fastest mount is too slow imo... But with smaller zones and no more open world, maybe it won't be as bad. Running takes up 40% of my time in any FF game haha

The item team is actually looking into ways to allow players to execute the node finder abilities and check NPC Linkpearls while on chocoback. However this is still in the early planning phase and other teams need to be consulted with to verify whether or not it will be possible. We will be sure to let you know any developments when we find out.

I'm glad to hear!

I maintain that, due to the linkpeal's placement within the ear itself, the shellphone meets all requirements of a hands-free device and is thus perfectly safe for use while riding a chocobo.

While we are on the subject...

It would be nice if calling my chocobo canceled my stealth. I hate having to turn off my stealth to whistle for Miser. Whistling should just cancel my stealth and I could be on my way.

Had an idea and would like to share. It would be interesting as a mini game for 2.0, to be able to form a team, with Players mounted on their chocobos and compete against another team, for example a medieval style soccer game. Grab the sheep and try reach the other side while other chocobos and their masters try to take the sheep back and so on. Add skills and such, arena, ladder, and of course, juicy items for the best teams. A championship would be cool as well, maybe even a cross server championship.

I hope i'm not the only one wondering why this would be such a complex issue. The abilities in question don't have any kind of motion or animation or anything that would visually or ligically prohibit their use on chocobos/mounts. One would think it's a simple matter of flagging these commands as not being restricted while on chocobos/mounts.

It really does seem like the different teams are very isolated from one another. It sounds like SE's internal communications needs as much improvement as their communication with the community. Luckily their external communication has been improving recently, lets hope that the communication between teams improves too and different aspects off the game can gel together better in 2.0.

I am going to make a wild guess. But when mounted, you are a completely different entiety that does not works at all the same way your on-foot self does, and is not even related to class or ability setups to begin with.

Edit: I guess I am going to regret making this guess, however

I would have guessed the same thing. It might just be something do with the current state of the character, something like mounting a chocobo assigns the character a specific class that establishes the chocobo animation on top of multiplying the speed. If there was a different class for the character that is assigned during mounting (by class I mean a set of code that is standardized to be used for different enitites) then all of the code that was created pre-chocobo might not be existent for the 'chocobo' class of code. You might think, why not just copy and paste that code then? If only it was that easy.
This of course is just pure speculation.

Any chance for emotes, just for the sake of fun, and engaging NPCs in dialogue (turning in leves) from Chocoback?

If it just doesn't function technically, how about making it so that attempting one of these things, emotes, using abilities, talking to NPCs, etc, kicks you off your chocobo and does the action?
