Bids should not all be equal.
I believe there should be a mercy system that slightly ups your bid value every time you lose AND/OR bids have higher value the earlier you put them into the bidding cycle.
This comes from someone whose won twice in the current system btw.
bids should be equal for everyone
Renalt this is the NA forms. We need at least two more threads. I would love to be able to use the Z axis and have the camera ignore my character when trying to place things. Along with being able to swap out the baseboards. I would also ask for pillars, but they did recently say they were working on that. Oh and being able to change the size of some furniture. I think the wooden spiral staircase is a nice item, but for the most part it seems to be too tall. This also happens to a lot of other items that they clearly design with a large in mind. I would love it if we didn't have to hop into the bath tubs that aren't the jacuzzi style of tubs. Oh and give me a dang outdoor pond that has fish in it.
The rent is TOO DAMN HIGH
The only thing it really needs is for the apartment system to be expanded to include full houses of all sizes.
Extra credit: Let us scale the size of furnishings.
.. There is .. yknow.. an entire subforum for this:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/1020-Housing
Lottery tickets shouldn't be the price of the whole plot but maybe make them 10 or 5 percent of the plot cost. Also, they should make all FC housing instant housing then make all the wards for private housing. Then make all housing plots the same size where you can pick from small to large house for them. Where if have a small house can put more items outside than if pick and medium or large house.
A nice idea, but wouldn't work in practice. The gil amount for the house has to be locked, otherwise who's to say that it doesn't get spent before the lottery is over? Then you're unable to buy the house and it has to go up for bid again.
They'd have to remap the entire housing wards to be able to fit a huge hoard of larges, I'm not sure that's something they can even do.
Personally, glitching is annoying AF and takes way too much time. Please just make it so we can place things on x/y/z axis.
FC housing should require 1M+ company credits per month to keep active.
Any fc that actively plays the game can easily make that in a week, And would immediately put a stop to shell FC's with alts.
Private houses should be automatically shared with alts.
Oh boy few things ( a mod should sticky this thread for us)
•Increase the storage space for indoor and outdoor. ( they can accolated the key items spaces.)
• Add item collision to help with placement. I understand there is a glitch to make them float but its 2023 can we not use glitches to do so?
• add a function just like IS where as if it rains then the crops that we plant get watered
•Apartments should be updated. Was mentioned back in stormblood that it was suppose to be updated but never was
•Apartments should have a area to plant
• Have hosing tied to only one account and let it has access to all characters on said account
•Increase how many players can be assigned to have access to it.
• Have a way for players to access the same facilities like an FC. Such as a workshop. If people recall back in heavensward doing to diadem you needed to have a FC ship to get there, later they added a way for players that didnt have a FC to use a ship to get there.
• Add a balcony area if you have a house that can have one
•Instance housing or instance FC only areas. Imagine FCs having there own areas and are able to build what they see fit. Can make whole town something.
• Add housing loadout system.
This. You can literally only have one private house per world. There aren't loopholes for it outside of buying a 2nd copy of the game and registering a new account. Any alts you have on a world should automatically get access to the house since they can't get one at all.
Please don't lambast me for asking this... why is it that we're made to commit to a bid? Like, why does withdrawing the money before lotto ends costly? Am asking mostly out of curiosity.
I don't know if this is a good idea or not. It's minor in comparison to other stuff people asked for, but still. Just asking for the sake of trying to help other people decorate their houses in other servers:
Given how World Transfer works, allow people from a different World to be a tenant in your house. That way if you have a friend who you want to ask them to decorate your house, they can do so with ease without needing to purchase a server transfer.
They previously mentioned that they've been working on allowing players to remove pillars in the corner of the apartments/housing. Wondering if that's in yet.
I don't know if this is a good idea or not:
For fc houses, to get one aside from the gil needed also they will need credits to buy it, so for example, if a small house cost 4M gil then to buy it you need the 4M gil and 4M fc credits, 20M gil and 20M fc credits for medium and so.
But since there are a lot of bot out there not sure it this will be get abused...
other ideas:
Able to place any furnishing in x, y or z axis.
2 more subdivitions on each ward? not sure if this is posible with the current servers.
I know we're not meant to discuss these things in the forums, but there is an add-on that enables a gizmo to not only adjust your furniture in those axis, but also snap them to specific coordinates to make things line up rather than rely on a camera-based grid option.
Square has been slowly, slooooooooooooooooooooooooooowly implementing things that are made possible by third party tools (for a while now, not just since they've announced they'd look into things). This is something a lot of people have been asking for a while now, within these forums as well. I just don't think there's been any consolidated thread about it. So yeah, know that the ability to work vertically has been a popular demand, it certainly is a good idea from the fanbase's perspective.
ngl, i feel like the approach would involve abandoning the neighborhood ward concept that rarely flourishes to the ideation (could probably leave wards for FC's, as the vast majority of life even breathed into a housing ward is due to a FC/collective of people putting together resources for some event or another) and do instanced housing.
they did give everyone an instanced private island, and i feel like allowing players to choose the scenery of that island/possibly layout after progressing the thing or something/letting people place a home somewhere on it that removes the basecamp beach shack, for the same gil sink as small/med/large is now... would alleviate the player friction pretty heavily. especially if you could name the island/open up a list that showcases the variety of instances with the associated names if you wanted to go island hopping and permissions allowed.
granted. i don't know how difficult that is to do on the actual technical side. a part of me feels "well, if they could do instanced islands, why not this... ?" but then again every time i hear a developer talk (at any level, from solo, indie to AAA) it's always like "yeah sure we can make a demon burst out of hell right here that's easy. the scarf though..."
since it'd have to be able to support however many players persist on a server to avoid that particular instance interface from clogging up too badly, and then it'd have to be able to somehow not pull from the battle instances (so... your raid night isn't cancelled because there's over 20k instances generated for housing). on top of, probably, all the space and resources required for the items each home would have/supported player amounts.
instanced housing is what i, as a player, would prefer as a system (esp. with the possibility of having a lot more control over the scenery outside). and i can only operate off the knowledge that a lot of other games manage to make it work this way (ie: Wildstar, BDO, New World, I believe ESO, etc...). but those are also games that didn't go through a rebuild + seem to have more resources put into them relatively speaking, since it doesn't sound like SE reinvests much in XIV for expanding resources based on how the interviews always go. and i don't know if they'd risk skipping an expansion to try and tidy up the backend from 1.0 holdovers, or even if that'd be enough time to finish that with the amount of people they have.
it's either that, or being able to have as many houses available on a server as players on that server (not just active at a time), but that could be... hundreds of thousands, depending on how many unique players are cycling through various servers (since like, server capacity is one thing, but when the server is capped, how many are in queue? How many more would be in queue if all active accounts were attempting to access at once? etc...). couple that, with the issue of people buying up multiple limited slots (and this will always happen tbqh)... an actual figure for how many houses needed would be kind of difficult to nail down (since... even if you made a house for every single unique, active player on a server... how many people managed to own multiple homes? or how many homes have some fc's managed to buy out? while you can work with historical data and probably averages to get an estimate on the amount of excess may be needed, there's always the risk enough people choose to go above and beyond with the dupe-purchases during a high profile time that'd throw it off, etc...)
Bumped because...well...never ending issue. Also because someone said hard to find.
I'll agree with the Variable Sized Plots.
(Let's be honest, if you could customize the land/plot further, and not be forced into choosing land size, location. people would fill all the spots regardless. Some like the idea of Big everything, others like Cozy"Secluded" and then the middle that some take as "Would get the large, but it's either none on market, or not FC.")
[With new maps, or potentially new wards, set up new plot maps. they plan for 10 more years, so changes will occur where they can, and housing has been one of the more asked for change topics]
<if changed this way, just have a Lottery-if it's not changed by then- that charges all players the cost of a small, as the entry fee-lost if backed out of lottery-. after lottery results, the winner could then decide from the Three Building Sizes.>
[Price for entry to drawing be the lowest possible building size + the fact the plot size are all standardized]
I'd also suggest Housing zones that are either dedicated to isolate plots abit ,(would say some to cluster plots close to each other, but Empyreum does that well enough.) Since a prevalent, yet ridiculous notion of certain Districts are for the gil-less, etc etc. Increase Variation of ward/zone.[This would go well with above, if it's set up right.]
agreed with alts being able to use private housing<but at that point, you may as well be able to friend/inv your alts to groups and etc. since they probably kept it that way to avoid potential uses not approved.>
When you have multiple FCs that differ only by a few special characters at the end of their name(all same tag) all taking up plots in an Empyreum ward (9th Ward, Hyperion), I feel that the criteria isn't stringent enough for FCs able to bid. This particular FC group also has multiple houses across various servers (166 total). It's so frustrating to see something like this happen, especially within newer ward/housing additions.
I'd just like a place to store my outdoor furniture already. Of course, I'd decorate a house if I ever got one. But one of my biggest issues with this game is not being allowed to store my outdoor furniture in my apartment, since I haven't gotten a house yet. Its a pain in the ass to me because it takes up space for one of my retainers and was one of the big reasons why I had to buy an extra retainer. :/
Apartment sizes please. We can start with the small room upon purchase but allow us to buy bigger sizes and/or styles (so a balcony or second floor) with more gil.
Z axis/let lofts hold more than just table items so we can stop glitching items where we want to go.
Probably my biggest annoyance with the current lottery system: LET. US. RECEIVE. OUR GIL. WITHout GOING TO THE PLACARD.
Why is it not a pop up where we can claim our gil? Why do we need to go all the way to the placard just to find out, nope, you lost, here's your gil back? You can even have it be sent to us by mail if you want. The whole "walk of shame" is stupid.
I like this idea particularly because I am currently experiencing difficulty in upgrading my FC house to a large because of ward restrictions. In the next lottery cycle 3 large houses will open up but I can't bid on one because they are only available to private buyers.
This would not be fair to smaller FCs. Our members are active every day but it would be impossible to earn 1million credits a month.
Even private buyers are small luck to get that. Good luck getting something bigger. I managed to snatch a medium when it was available and now it's 80+ people on it.
I also found some interesting thing. I am not sure if it's a bug or intended but I noticed that lottery winners for houses I bid on were always the last ticket. My friend bid on large house 1 year ago when it was fresh ward, she got 8 chars on bid. So it was her all alone, can say Guaranteed win. Then you see a guy come and he bids 1 minute before bidding closes and he wins the house. He stood there and didn't bid until it was like 1-2 minutes at the end. The ticket was number 9, exactly his.
Then I bid 2 weeks ago for a large house and there were 88 tickets. Same mechanic just done by different person. They stood there for the last 1-2 minute, then bid. Guess what ticket won? Number 89 which was theirs.
I may actually try and see if this works or its some pure luck because big number of people do this thing.
The amount of times it seems to work like that almost makes you feel like there’s a pattern in there somewhere. Like I’ve seen the opposite, where every house on one block of a ward goes to bid number 1 before. It truly is all RNG though, even if the RNG feels “lazy” sometimes! lol
I have a favorite plot I bid on every time it comes up, and every time I lose. I’ve bid first, last and everywhere in between. The only lotto I’ve ever won, for my current plot, I was bid #1 of 2.
would be nice when we get tardus housing all housing limits become a large house limit
