I don't understand why it's not there. It's actually a fun game mode, lasts about 15 minutes and is less frustrating than Frontlines. Astralagos is still locked, adding Hidden George wouldn't hurt.

Yeah both unraked CC and other PvP activities could use some love to be added in the roulette section.
Frontline is not a roulette, but a rotation. If you want to give either of the other modes some love, there are discords for that, hosting events. Rival Wings is run almost every day on a different DC.
You're welcome. I'm not done yet. Thank you for being obtuse. My whole point is they can't do what you want because there's nothing to roulette with. Mentor roulette aside, everything is grouped up nicely with the same party comps across the board. You know what you're gonna get. I imagine it would be difficult to fill frontline in this manner because it's going to pick the smaller duty first. Next time put a little more thought into your ideas before you put them out there.
Roulette is the group PvE section. Frontlines is under a different section - challenges. No need to get hung up on the semantics around "roulette". Discords are not sufficient for people who want to jump into RW as easily as they do FL.
Do what same thing? There's one map.
If Astralagos ever comes back, it'll probably be a two-day rotation.
Maybe there are some CWLS. I don't know. Discord is incredibly convenient. You don't even have to converse with people.
How is it getting hung up on semantics when roulette only means one thing around here? Maybe if OP decides to be clearer, something can be sorted out, but they just want to throw words around and hope something sticks.
They are asking for a RW daily challenge with extra xp, etc. to make it more alive. This is exactly what the Frontline daily challenge does, it has nothing to do with the map rotation.
Independently, if RW has again several maps, SE could introduce a daily rotation of those, indeed.
Yeah... I actually don't want that. The problem with the daily challenge system is you get people that only go for the reward. In Frontlines, you regularly get people that are there to get a level on a job in 16 minutes and go on their way.
RW is more fun because people aren't there just for the reward and they actually like pvp and want to try to win.
...god forbid people do things for a reward am I right.
No, seriously. You are more afraid of people mudding the waters for playing for the reward than of the fact, that Rival Wings currently is on life support by the community organising matches. This also doesn't consider that out of the people playing for the reward, there are those who like the game and want to improve in that mode.
Not everyone does Daily Challenge with minimal effort and zero heart.
OMG yes, please add a Rival Wings roulette. When I was farming exp for Series 2, I hit a perfect window of short que Rival Wings, it is so much more entertaining than the other two PvP modes. The more choices we have for the grind, the less boring and tedious it feels. Please add a roulette that rotates the map just like Frontlines. And also add another map, please.
Enough do that it's very noticeable to those that participate regularly and try to work on the long term rewards. I've seen plenty of backlash against those that are actually trying to organize people to win a Frontline match. It's not a fun experience when people clearly don't care about hitting the objectives properly and putting up a good fight.
They really do need to revive Rival Wings. Bring back Astragalos. Add a roulette for it. Please. It's ridiculous that the community needs to organize events to even get it to pop.
The issue isn't people wanting to play for rewards, the issue is the lack of systems in place to base the reward on performance / activity and-or the lack of systems punishing players beyond "lol get removed if you waited too long in spawn".
I'd prefer having people populate the mode in the first place and there being bad blood in between rather than the mode being on life support.
If rw had a roulette people would do it more they are getting rewarded for it.
Astragalos is down for rebalancing following the PvP revamp, so they do plan to bring it back at some point. (the Duty Finder says so) They'll likely do a daily rotation as they do with Frontline or maybe something closer to CC. In the meantime, you should show your support for Rival Wings if you actually like that mode. Otherwise, it just looks like you're here being greedy for more rewards. You already get series XP, tomes and credit towards achievements shared with CC.
Yes frontline is technically not a roulette. It isnt actually called a roulette in game, it's called daily challenge or something like that. However it is grouped together with every other roulette and like every other roulette gives a daily bonus. Calling it frontline roulette is easily understandable for every honest person and only dishonest people will try to split hairs on this.
I am in favor of giving daily frontline a buddy in daily rival wings. It's an okay game mode that unfortunately suffers from having been literally dead for so long now that it's hard getting matchmaking for it going again. Previous to rival wings becoming temporarly unavailable there was a PF on my DC every friday calling people into hidden gorge and it lead to pretty quick queues. I havent seen them since the reintroduction sadly so a daily rival wings could do a nice job jump starting the game mode again.
The only people being dishonest around here are those that insist on isolating themselves and hiding behind the excuse of having the devs be solely responsible for promotion of this mode. If you bothered to find a relevant discord, like Revival, you'd see it's actually been active. It may not be as active as frontline, but it's enough that people are showing up regularly.
So, you don't want to risk having some people just playing for rewards and will take any angle to shoot down adding RW to the daily challenges. That's the takeaway I'm seeing from your comments. I get why people would feel that way, but to call people dishonest because they want the devs to promote their own content is ridiculous. What you are concerned about as a possible side effect of a daily challenge for RW is understandable, but so are the interests of those whose desire for more regular and consistent Revival Wings action outweighs their concern for that some people will play who don't learn the game mode very well.
People can support Revival Wings and also push for devs to support their own content they created and published which is still have sitting there on the servers. The two activities - supporting Rival Wings and pushing for a daily challenge in the Duty Finder - are not mutually exclusive. You don't want a daily challenge. Noted. But not everyone is fully satisfied by the very limited activity and time frame that the Discord community can promote and maintain when the devs only offer the occasional inclusion in limited time irregular tomestone events and still haven't finished redoing the other map.
Sure, the Discord is greatly appreciated and a great resource, but why should it primarily be on players to keep RW on life support? What if the devs just decided to leave expert dungeon queues, for example, to Party Finder and Discords? I mean sure, those who really wanted it would find a way, but people who really liked expert dungeons would likely make threads like this asking why such content wasn't a roulette.
It really can just be an agree to disagree issue on the relative value and desirability of a daily challenge. It doesn't have to be antagonistic. In any case, I won't be online for several days or longer, so let me say it's great to see people sharing their thoughts and opinions on the pros and cons of such support from SE for Rival Wings. And if you haven't tried that game mode, it seems more complicated at first than it is. The Discord community is very helpful and has limited but fairly regular times when members try to queue up together. If nothing else maybe this thread and those like it can get more people interested in trying this fun activity in FFXIV :o
Finally, someone that understands the lingo and what it means.
I'm calling people dishonest because I feel like they don't have a real interest in RW, only another way to cheese job XP and daily rewards without doing much. I don't like that attitude and I don't want those people on my team. It's not fun when people slack off or goof around in these matches. I can accept a loss when people actually put forth a reasonable effort. I don't want that FL daily mentality seeping into RW.
People here are shooting down the idea of actually engaging the community to do a community event. If the devs don't see the activity, they could easily decide to pull support and work on something else more worth their time.
God forbid people use frontlines to level their jobs. The other day I heard someone say they should remove series exp gain from CC.
After the only map of Rival Wing is up post-pvp skill update, I only chanced two matches. I queue the thing when my duty finder is not occupied. So far, I got one more pop-up after days of queuing, which was immediately cancelled by someone. Now my total number of match continued to sit at 2, despite I tried to queue whenever I can.
I want to play more of it cuz I'm bored of CC and Frontline already, but still have to do them for Series rewards. While I only play two matches, the mechanic that is different from the 3-way zergballs of Frontline intrigues me, and I want to learn more about the mode, providing I can even join a game in the first place. And no, I can't use Discord to get a group cuz I have trouble trying to match my time with available groups in doing contents cuz real life, so I rely a lot on Duty Finder for doing contents.
Also, I read this thread and see someone worries that by adding daily rewards, their organized Rival Wings will be plagued with less-skilled reward-seeking players. Don't such people ever consider that such a way of thinking sounds very elitism? "They cannot play organized and can't commit more than one match/day, so better not having them in Rival Wings, and let Rival Wings be only the playground of Discord organized parties. Dead pvp mode and duty-finder plebs be damned", that is what I interpret from such feverish refusal.
Fun fact, at its release in patch 3.0, ARF was not in any roulette at all. This is a dungeon mandatory to finish HW MSQ. This was crazy as people had to rely to others specifically queuing for it while it had no rewards besides a few tomestones!
We had to wait for patch 3.1 for SE to put it in the new Level 60 roulette and to increase its tomestone reward (which explains why now it is 150 poetics for instance).
I understand the competitive spirit behind it, but if one feels too much rage doing PvP, best way is to really take a break and do something else. If SE took away rewards from Frontlines, no one would do it and suffer the same fate as RW. Do that for PvE, same fate. There needs to be some sort of reward for participating in the content. RW may not be there on the list, but it's as rewarding as Frontlines, but has more fun factor to it IMO
Adding a yes vote to this. RW is fun and I would love to play more
did you know that there are people that play on console that dont know anything about discord and all that but want to pvp in rival wings?
yeah, we need those rival wings challenge in duty finder like frontlines
If Astragalos (not Astralagos, surprisingly) gets added back, maybe with a third map, there could be a legitimate rotation.
When RW was re-added, the Duty Finder notice for Astragalos was updated, though it seems to have a grammatical error.
