Like I still don't get what's the reasoning of changing them into boxers...

what? who cares about male characters
If it's already got something for both genders, don't expect a change.
Careful there Renault. Backing out without looking only ends up with you grinding into that Roe Bro who’s blocking your exit…
It's kinda funny, actually. It's not like we don't already got a handful of thong-looking ..."pants"... for them to play the gender role now, specially when the whole point is to ungender glamours.
I'd glam flexing roe in that, if we were allowed to.
Sorry, no manties for you.
Why are you so smooth down there?:(
Ah, you want to highlight how the men in Eorzea are all eunuchs? Ok...
You know, it's hard to defend XIV in public when people are just enforcing the stereotypes, lmao.
Be happy and walk around in your couril undies. Like a normal male character.
What does that have to do with the soy and perversion levels of some of the playerbase?
Also, swimwear speedos were a requirement, and had to be worn by competitors regardless if they wanted to or not. They are still a valid option along with jammers for male athletes during competition. And I don't complain when I see athletes in uniform.
Also, also, speedos are designed for men, and have a specific purpose that doesn't involve perversely parading one's self around as a male pretending to be a female.
Also, also, also, speedos don't come with leg straps.
Any other questions?
What does soy have to do with anything? I'm old and can't keep up with slang anymore.
They're not going to change them there are I'm sure a lot of males who like them just the way they are. Be easier to ask that an item be wearable by both genders but to change something in game to make one group happy will make another just the opposite.

Slang and colloquialisms a person picks up has far more to do with region than age. Not really uncommon if you spend like, anytime online anywhere.
Remember when people complained about males wearing subligars in XI? Those were the days...
...Welp, can't go back now. SE should just make male panties Mogshop exclusive. They would be raking in the money that way!
Oddly enough, when I joined the game, a common thing people praised was the Hellfire armor or something not discriminating between male and female characters: it had a chest window for both genders. People liked that skimpyness was done on an equal level at the time. So either FF11 fans grew wiser or FF14 fans know what's good.
Just mod it in
People praised how for females it has a bosom window while for men there's a dumb window showing nothing at all? Sheesh, some people have a very low bar for praise, then. Equal certainly isn't a word i'd use for it, and i don't mean it should be less "skimpy", if that's the word you wanna use. I simply mean you can't highlight assets that aren't there.
The thing I like about options like this beyond being silly/straight up crossdressing is that it allows more options for players in expressiveness.
I have met several players using the male roe to play a female burly character. Not a dude in a dress, but a lady with unique proportions. Similarly I’ve seen feminine male Au Ra that wouldn’t be out of place in some all female athletic anime. They weren’t trying to be sexy or slutty or silly. Just the body shape that fit the character they wanted to play. And although sparse, they were able to use glamour and body options to make pretty decent androgynous characters.
No no no no no no no, No, ok just no.
I think the overall response was on the tired trope of fantasy armors. For most people, it was refreshing that guys had revealing stupid armor. Usually you only see female characters with the absolutely asinine armor designs that cover absolutely nothing. Whereas men tend to be a bit more covered up.
That is equality. Everyone gets the stupid stuff, even the men :p
Whether it's good or not is entirely irrelevant~
Also  iunno, I like revealing stuff on guys. It's a fantasy setting where we're guarded by stats and "lol aether" as a justification, I doubt realism is still in the house.
