can't play ranked pvp

So recently I ranked up to Platinum 4 in PvP.
Now whenever I try to queue I never find a match. I queued to many different times (including 12-14, 19-24 (prime time I guess).
It's frustrating, since I won't be able to achieve what I wanted to.
I waited 10-15, over 20 and even 45 minutes already and didn't find anything.
I'm a fairly new player but I wonder if the ranked PvP rewards have always been so bad?
What will happen to ranked PvP in the future and how can some people grind up to 1500 stars while I can't find a single ranked game anymore?

A lot of players once they reach high ranks just stop playing as their tier is secured. There's no rank decay for inactivity.
You will find matches but not nearly as often. This has been an issue since The Feasts ranked seasons.

Yeah Im sorry for you, also Light DC here.

Im someone who adds to the problem by not playing.

This isnt just because of no rank decay though, this is also because I have nothing to actually compete for to go further than Crystal once I reach it. The gamemode is super accessible, but without incentive that is exclusive to ranked... ya know, that's why I simply play Casual. Same currencies, no stress, same fun.

It sounds dumb, but after four seasons of the exact same rewards with different roman numbers you simply lose interest. My apologies.

Light PvP is completely dead, there are still people with 2 wins within top 100.

If you check out top 100 and how many wins they got yesterday, it's only a handful of people playing during degen hours. Plat and Diamond ranks are the most dead out of them all.

Feast died for all the good reasons to make small scale pvp accessible.

They are just killing CC ranked entirely differently by going full pepega with the full reversal of incentivisation, by making the rewards as monotonous as possible, killing off the drive of more experienced pvpers and veterans.

And the average pvp tourist applauds them for it, while being on the forum blaming the death of CC to literally everything else except the lack of ranked-exclusive incentive.

The "battlepass" can be progressed too quickly for something that lasts for two seasons while almost entirely being just crystals for rewards to use on a vendor that has been the same stuff since season 1 lol.

Between that and implementing de-ranking, its pretty obvious why the ranked queue on the less populated servers is dead. While I was in favor of de-ranking, I was concerned that this could potentially happen and its clear now they should just revert the change and they need to redesign their series battlepass thing. If its gonna go for two seasons then make the battlepass have more levels with more than just crystals for rewards (or update the damn vendor).

I like pvp just for the sake of pvp, but reality is to keep things going the mode needs incentives for the casuals to play more often. Just look at frontlines. Before they added it to a roulette and gave it exp the mode was completely empty (and rival wings is a perfect example. No one plays that mode because its not in the roulette and its rewards are ass)

as I said before, the ranked rewards are bad. The battlepass is nice to have as a bonus but I play ranked for a reason. To get the highest rank possible and when doing so, I expect unique rewards. Why can't there be exclusive mounts/cosmetic sets or even emotes? PvP in a small scale is much more fun for me than big battlefields that contain a lot of chaos.

yes, I know that I can exchange my wolf marks for those things mentioned above, but that's something else...

Yeah cc is dead, mostly around all DCs. Even at high ranks, hardcore pushing players are not even playing anymore.
Im from aether, but even around Crystal DC is not even popping around high diamond-crystal.

I hope you can get a nice pull of players to achieve your goal, but i said to a friend last patch, if they are not making good enough changes (this mean not a new map) CC Ranked is dead for sure in the next patch.
Im already planning to quit until i see a resurge of players and ive been playing a lot of CC Ranked since season 1.

Honestly if people not playing ranked is such a big issue maybe instead of implementing FOMO rewards into it, they can just remove ranked since everybody save for the select few seem to hate it lol

I'm usually a low crystal player and have this season hit some kind of elo hell back in plat (or maybe I just regressed in skill for some reason who knows?). I almost deranked to gold at some point after 15 successive losses.

Queues have mostly petered out last week, so I'm stuck here. So yeah, I get the feeling. I also don't feel like going in casual games because it feels like seal clubbing tbh.

I'm always amazed that the motive for people to actually play the game is season rewards though, and not just to have fun. I guess that's MMO crowds perhaps.

of course I have fun when playing pvp as I said before, but I want something that I can aim for. The fun is in the way and not in the goal. a unique reward links me to my victories if that makes sense.

Of course they are, more people means more money and thats what square wants! i honestly think its a JP culture thing and suits being dumb.

I'm a vet and don't give a shit about exclusive rewards. It's just vain ego tricks.

But then again, everybody hates FOMO, and yet apparently people want rewards to play the mode so... What do we do? I would have thought that having rewards like for seasonals, but that you can get later in the pvp shops like a year after, or even in the next series (not ladder season, but series), would have been a neat compromise...

I just want cool things to work toward, I'm not picky about what other than the cool part. I think a tab full of materia isn't really cutting it at the moment.

I enjoy the mode because it's so simple. 5vs5 no big battlefields with too many people... Putting the rewards a year later in the Mogry or pvp shop would be fine for me.

The mode is fun enough the problem is casual and ranked are exactly the same apart from rating and the lack luster reward structure. Five random people vs five random people is cool until you expect a reasonable level of competition. Random groups in comp modes are never a good idea. Imagine picking 5 players in any sport at random regardless of position skill etc. and jamming them together. How is that not supposed to frustrate? Sweet I'm on offense and I got all wide receivers/ or /goalies/ or /power forwards... laughable.

In ranked mode you should get matched with people that have a smiliar rank than you. That way you can filter the skill to the ranks. At least to a certain point.

It works, because good luck having the same skill level in casual than in diamond+, but it doesn't work well enough either. Bad play can cripple any team way too easily

The absence of one of the most basic PvP modes across... almost any PvP game I've ever played has always struck me as odd. Hell, I've even seen games with demented versions where there's more than two teams, so it's not like "well they were focused on frontlines..." is an excuse. Why'd they make another version of Conquest with Onsal Hakair, anyway? We already had it in Seal Rock.

yeah, they have like 3 or 4 king of the hill modes and one push the card mode.... then we got poor rival wings that is ignored because 'nobody plays it', alot of these issues we have now could be fixed with rather simple tweeks.

I don't think you want to see a CTF mode in this game... Imagine this scenario -- You get stunned just before the flag and immediately hit purify only to be stunned again before resilience kicks in. Then your teammate, with the absolute gigabrain play, aetherial manipulates to grab the flag in your place since the warrior on the other team couldnt get to the flag faster.

But wait! On YOUR screen, your BLM teammate was at the flag first, but on the enemy WAR's monitor screen, HE was there first, and so even though it looked like the enemy WAR was too far away to grab the flag on your screen, on his screen he already grabbed it and is on his way out. xD

Tl;dr CTF would be dead on arrival until we get updated netcode or servers or new whatever the hell this game's network problems are.

The queue times are really fast when you are gold or lower. The second you hit platinum the queue dries up. Once you do get a match it's typically with the same people shuffled around.

I start to wonder if there are too many ranks. It's impossible to do ranked CC at higher levels if there's no one to play with.

I was thinking more Team Fortress style CTF than traditional CTF. Where you don't need the flag at your base to capture their flag, and when the flag is dropped it sits in place for 60 sec before returning to base automatically unless an enemy player picks it up again.

I don't think I'd want a CTF mode with more than 8-10 players per team though, that's for sure.

They could honestly get rid of ranks and top 100, and instead exchange these two aspects with just crystal credit and a top 1%.

Start everyone off at 0 crystal credit and match games based on total crystal credit per team. Each team matched will have similar total crystal credit, whether that is both teams with 5 players at 100 credit each for a total of 500, or one team with a a player at 200 credit and one with 0 for a total of 500. Sure there will be the chance you get a 500 credit player on a team full of 0's but this would likely only happen near the beginning of the season as the talent starts to clear the horizon.

Display the top 1% leaderboard at the end of the season. This would be incentive to keep playing because you don't know what the 1% crystal credit cutoff will be until the end. Otherwise we will continue to have the mentality of "my rank is safe and secure, no more queuing for me I'm done."
