Crystalline Conflict Ranked changes.

1. Put top 100 armour and mount rewards and bring back rank1 trophies housing items.. Like how feast was. Make new armour or recolor old feast armour.

2. New minion that can only be obtained from ranked. For example "Fenrir pup"
It will have a extremely low drop rate for rarity, and will be market board sellable.

3. Only 1 character per account can participate in a season for the data center that character is on.

4. Demotion for all ranks.

5. No streak/rising bonuses.

6. Every season everyones rank gets reset to untitled.

7. Withdrawing from que disables you from queuing for 1 hour. Doubles every withdraw.

8. No peak rating, only current.

9. Only 3 pools.
Crystal players only play crystal players.
Diamond1 through Gold1
Gold2 through unranked.

10. No more map rotation times. The map is completely chosen for the match at random.

Thoughts?

1. Already done that and it failed

2. No, no point in doing that.

3. No, it’ll cause a problem on their end with complaints.

4. No, the majority players will leave, killing that content for good.

5. No, unless they rework the system.

6. Depends on the system revamp as a whole.

7. No, hard to prove. Have to include multiple factors of withdraws.

8. Needs a rework from a point system to….I just thought of tekken 7’s rank. Just add more ranks instead of capping at crystal.

9. It could work, but it looks like a rework on their system.

Wait, what ranks don't demote today?

Also removing peak rating for rewards would essentially mean going back to S1 and S2 system where people just stopped playing as soon as they had reached the rank they were aiming for. It's gonna be even worse now that you can demote from league to lower leagues.

Reasons behind these changes.

1. Motivate players to reach top 100, increasing player base for ranked, participation, shorter que times.

2. Makes ranked profitable Gil wise.
During the feast days fenrir pups would sell for 1m+ on the MB, since you couldn't get this minion anywhere else. But now you can obtain Fenrir pups through GC seals "loot crates"

3. Help prevents/slows down wintrade. The ability to create alt characters and fly through tiers obtaining dia/crystal then using these alts to throw matches to fund specific players should be slowed down and made harder to do.

4. Help prevents/slows down wintrade while putting players with a certain "skill level" where they should to be.
Demotion for all ranks would make "alt character credit donators" have to put forth more effort to make it to the higher tiers, resulting in demotivation to wintrade/boost others.

5. Same as #4

6. Same as #4

7. Same as #4, while slowing down and preventing que syncing.

8. Players are allowed to climb to a certain goal then never que again. Give them a reason to keep playing. Keeping people active, and lowering que times.

9. Reduce que times since it's just 3 pools. Achieving crystal should feel like entering the tier with the best players, so making to where crystal fights crystal would be right imo.

10. As of now some players refuse to que up during certain "map hours", reducing que times. Having the map chosen randomly might help with this, reducing que times.

Feast's failure was not due to the Top 100 rewards, because those were a banger.

It was because getting into Feast in the first place was a massive undertaking as Casual queue almost never popped, therefore no fundamental experience could be gathered outside of Unranked-Bronze Feast. The reason why Casual didn't pop is the enforcement of one of each role and designing jobs in pvp in the Holy Trinity fashion. This made healing extremely stressful and hardly anyone felt like they wanted to do that. It also made playing Tank unrewarding outside of top ranks because you neither had the damage potential to carry a game with damage done nor did your playmaking capabilities do anything until your teammates have a sense for team bursts.

Crystalline Conflict's current failure is inversely due to the lack of incentive within Ranked. The rewards are shit, plain and simple whereas the gamemode is extremely accessible with no role restrictions and a non-trinity based design philosophy, meaning every individual player has carry potential and can actually kill or peel in some form.

To sum it up nicely:

The Feast had good rewards, bad acessibility
Crystalline Conflict has bad rewards, good accessibility


So please everyone... stop parroting this senseless rethoric. A mode depends on more than one factor at a time for it to work.

We can complain "after" rewards are improved if there is still a problem, but right now just outright denying them makes no sense, not like you "lose" anything from it if the rewards are uniquely made for it.

The funniest part is the CC rewards are basically exactly what we get in all pve content atm. One or two things and truck loads of Materia. When I dream, I have nightmares about menus full of Materia for esoteric currency hidden somewhere in a fifteen page deep wallet menu...

1. I'm fine with this either way, but having ranked only currency with huge gains for high rank finish would make it less complained about.

2. I guess, another source of Gil for time spent, doesn't really matter but would be gains.

3. This would be great. The amount of alts has been way too high at times, occasionally people taking like 20+ total slots in top 100 with them just because they can play all day.

4. Would be nice, baseline gain for lower ranks might have to be adjusted if the player pool stays small though.

5. Streaks will balance the ranks faster, with full demotions and not working on Crystal it's fine either way.

6. Will only result in top players stomping everyone for a short while at start of season, partial reset is good enough.

7. Seems fine.

8. Is worse system. People keep playing more when they can reliably push their threshold up, instead of camping their ratings.

9. Is already close to that and causes no end of complaints, either rename and rework the system to pure rating, name the 3 rank pools differently or tighten it up for each tier.

10. Would help with people dodging X map, will mess with people who spesifically Job swap to each map. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Wouldn't matter as much if trash tier maps like C9 is removed from pool with good replacement.

If they were to re-introduce that system, to “try” and get ppl back in that content. To obtain exclusive items at the top 100, it’s going to be niche and a waste of time and resources cause they know the end result. That’s insanity at that point, just doing it over and over again, expecting it to work.

If they were to do that again, the top 100 items. I don’t see them putting a lot of effort on that deal if only a small amount can obtain it……..only to re-release it as another color or vfx months later. Pretty much in a bind…

Give us better rewards to spend from Trophy Crystal, this is the only reason why I'm not doing CC anymore these days.

x99 Wolf Collars for a Hellhound, x99 Wolf Collars for Conveyor next season, problem solved. CC casual/ranked will be crowded again.

The rank rewards are a big one for me. I would like to lie to everyone and say that it isn't and point out other issues. It's obvious though. The rank system needs tuning, but ultimately it's not exactly a failing system: it's "working as intended." A lot of people asked for no exclusivity, and we got it delivered nearly perfectly. We're just now reaping the results. I do not expect for much to change despite getting a new map.

I'll keep this question simple and leave it open-ended. Rank is like tournaments. They're very similar on a fundamental level. With that said would you rather participate/watch a tournament where everyone has little to no wager, or would you do it where something of value is on the line?



My other thing is the whole idea of deranking. I would like to respond to that, but first I would like to know why many are against the idea of dropping a rank when you lose a certain amount of games. I'm curious to know the reasoning for this.

Lack of communication with 4 random players. Auto chat won’t be enough. The experience would’ve been better if played with a group, but it’s not related to ranking so…

No one hates de-ranking, just the way it’s designed right now isn’t well received other than a niche audience saying it’s fine. You can perform at your very best, but it wouldn’t matter if you lose regardless because 1 or more players underperform, causing many demotions. Not enjoyable at that point.

I am totally for deranking. We live in elo hell with not enough skill difference between leagues and players to carry, but enough to throw a game or waste one by underperforming like crazy anyway, but hey, that's any team game ladder using individual rankings anyway. You're not just ranked on your own merits alone.

I am however staunchly opposed to removing the best ranking one achieves for rewards, else it just works against any kind of activity when players just stop playing entirely in fear of deranking regarding their final rewards.
