We need every crafter in FFXIV to write to SE and demand that they change Trial Synthesis to be able to take into account HQ Mats. It's important to be able to determine if you have a chance at success without wasting super valuable mats! Thanks for listening.

You have probably been taught how to do basic math at school, right? HQ mats are just a flat amount added to quality bar and nothing scales with it. So if you simply add whatever quality you get from HQ mats to the quality you got in trial synth the result will be your final quality. They are kinda big numbers sometimes but it's simple addition, I believe you can handle it.

you can do some pretty basic math.. do a trial synthesis or a few of them. take the average quality you finish with..
then when you select your hq materials or ingrediants it tells you in the crafting window. what your starting quality will be. just add the average quality you got from your trials to that starting quality and see how far from maximum quality you are likely to end up before you even press the start synthesis button. -

The problem with Trial Synthesis is that it generates a random set of conditions every time. Even if it accounted for HQ materials, you might get a string of Goods in your trial rotation that doesn't appear when you actually go to craft the item. If you want to know your true chance, use something like Teamcraft's rotation builder. It will give you a result assuming that you never end up with a condition other than Normal. Or you can choose to insert Good/Excellent conditions on certain steps to see the effect. No need to waste your consumables like you need to with Trial Synthesis.
The only "super valuable" mats are the treasure map drops used for crafting glamour gear. Since HQ makes no difference in the appearance of the glamour, you shouldn't be at risk of wasting them. Rinascita mats are easy to farm and replace in comparison. I wouldn't call them "super valuable". One hunt train, a half hour of gathering, and I've generally got enough to make 3 pieces of gear. -

So from your comments, what I am hearing is this sounds like something that would be very simple for them to fix. So one would have to assume the developers are being lazy.

I don't really care about your glamour, I was thinking more about the very hard to craft 610 gear which is worthless if it's not HQ. -

Considering we used to have nothing at all, and would have to do the maths ourselves (accounting for the worst RNG outcomes) it still feels like a luxury having it at all. I agree it's annoying to not know the quality/collectibilty outcome but it's not hard at all to figure it out yourself. For myself I prefer NOT to have the game hold my hand for every damned thing so I do enjoy it the way it is. That said I'm geared and melded well enough that with food HQ is not in any way an issue for me to get 100% HQ for anything IG. I usually overshoot by a large margin. The only times I've suffered a bit is when making the new crafting gear tier in order to not suffer later on. Gear and meld your crafters to the max, then the rest is a faceroll. I wouldn't object to the change, but it's not something I'm overly concerned about.

Some players are more interested in meeting ilvl requirements to get into content than the stats on the gear (or perhaps they want it for *gasp* glamour) and they'd rather go for the less expensive option.Quote:

Why not? I guess I could understand it if someone is using the glamour in roleplay as a wealthy socialite or something similar, but when it comes to appearance it makes zero difference. Go cheap, save gil and be able to buy more pieces of glamour for other outfits.Quote:

My much bigger wish is that they would create an alternate crafting menu that mirrors the UI of the Market Board menu, where I could look up a type of equipment for a certain level and get a list of the crafting options. -

I get the OPs point. Trial Synthesis is like a simulator. It really shouldn't matter if we could click those buttons for using HQ materials and have those factored in.
With that said, this sort of improvement should be both low-hanging fruit (easy to fix) and low priority. Do your trial synthesis, see where your quality caps out... let's say... 8200/10000. Then add your HQ materials in the window. You need them to be worth at least 1800 quality in order to guarantee an HQ (barring Good/Excellent states).
