Do you think frontline needs its own rules?

I certainly do. I've been thinking about this for somet time, and way the current pvp works makes much more sense in 4v4, where being able to lock key targets down is important. Even tho I am never a fan of stun stacking, or loss of character control in general, it makes a degree of sense.

But in frontline there are just way too many people. You're being as cautious as you can, and suddenly you get stunlocked to death with no way of stopping it. Yeah there is purify but its not gonna help when you get focused by a bunch of people. In short, that just isn't fun. I think that frontline skills need to work different from crystalline conflict skills, in ways that does not encourage stacking stuns. Tbh, at this point, I'd rather have the old pvp system back for frontline and the new for crystalline conflict until improvements have been made in both field. But more than anything, my personal takeaway from this is that fighting 4v4 and platoon vs platoon just isn't the same thing and can't be treated as such if you want good pvp.

If more than four people hit you, you are supposed to explode and die near instantly. That's how a healthy PvP game balance works. Simple math, really.

Nothing like 6 people hitting a ninja for a full minute and barely making a dent in their health, only for them to automatically escape because ninja.

Or accidentally clipping a SAM you didn't notice with an AoE and instantly dying for it.

FL has absolutely massive issues, and tbh most of it boils down to 3 factors imo:

- CC is way too rampant, and needs diminishing returns in there.

- 60% DR for all melee is a sloppy fix, they should apply different values based on individual jobs, and not just melee. DNC gets zero DR and is more of a melee job than NIN is.

- instant kill LBs do not belong in PvP imo, in any mode. Getting an instant death sentence and losing your battle high because of accidental clipping or daring to go below 50% health invariably makes it feel like your death wasn't earned by the opponent.

FL is 72 players. It cannot and will never be balanced. Just accept this fact that FL is casual chaos and you might have fun with the mode.

It's not about balance. It's about the game being playable. You talk about fun when people keep telling you that perma-cc and oneshot mechanics are the epitome of anti-fun.

And yet I end every FL match with only 1 or 2 deaths, sometimes no deaths. "Perma stun" is only an issue when you're getting dived by a zerg group and that is 100% of the time your fault.

Usually no, but on occasion I do, depends on the mood. FL is a joke mode so I don't really take it all that seriously. I'm just there for the EXP and getting as many kills as possible.

Pretty average honestly. Its not hard to just pay attention to the flow of a FL match and jump in and out of fights.

I don't really play SAM in pvp. SAM is kind of terrible imo. I usually play BRD in both FL and CC and if I jump into melee its normally DRG. Rest of the time I'm pretty much always on BLM in CC, sometimes MCH.

You have to jump in and out as melee in frontlines because that's simply how it works. If you hang around too long you're going to just get nuked by the zerg. Pick a target that is out of place, burst them and get out, unless you just like the idea of dying all the time and never having battle high built up to be able to reliably burst people down.

They could bring back 8v8v8 FL

They could also in the same breath bring back Fetter Ward for every job as a means to combat excessive CC...

Lemme tell you that 8v8 is sucks with 6.1 PvP if your teammates have few tank/melee and only use caster/ranged. JP Secure does 8v8 on A and C alliance and basically if your party don't have majority melee or tank, or even SAM and NIN, you will get pushed out easily.

JP Secure is just like Japanese Shogun War with all of those SAM and NIN...

That's a byproduct of melee resists in FLs, which would obviously have to be adjusted.

I think there are delicate ways to improve FL

Bringing back 10 second immunity on CC.

Take some of these LBs and actions and give them fall-off when affecting more than five targets.

With the above in mind, take away WHM/SMN damage penalty but cap their LBs. Also lower damage reduction for all jobs.

Maybe revise the battle high system to monitor extremes in damage.

If you are going to SAM instant kill LB, it would be better if it could be readily identified on the target.

That is simply not true, frontline pre 6.1 was balanced maybe aside RDM that was bad, however if you we're really good at it you could pull some decent damage and be really useful. Simply untrue.

It wasn't even remotely balanced...FL has never been balanced. The closest it ever got to being "balanced" was when they had smaller versions of it with 8v8v8 when it couldn't find 72 players.

FL is as casual mode as it gets. Stop taking it so seriously.

Have you played rival wings? They've already made FL work with 1 team vs. 1 team and it is the most balanced thing you can do but they seem intent on letting it die since it is not included in the roulette. Currently, this 1v1v1 is not working as most times one team is always going to get ganked regardless of where they are in points. It's not fun sitting on 0/800 in SR when they other teams have 400+ just because they kept picking on you and bad node spawns. It's also not fun when you are in the lead and suddenly one team decides to just yolo you for the rest of the match while the other team just chills and takes the win from you.

Rival wings is not frontlines, that's why its in its own category and its "balance" is due to the moba style gameplay.

I wouldn't mind Rival Wings if there was a cooldown system to prevent people from camping the mech terminal for the whole party and get back into one as soon as they die with their last one.

Playing Melee like DRG/NIN/RPR = god mode basically its impossible to die unless you really messed up so badly.

I've been trying to play as RDM with OK results in frontline but since I dont have that many DR, ONE tiny mistake = dead a single SCH debuff can take my health away in half alone unlike DRG for example it just tickles.
