The only thing I will miss from the pre-2.0 game is the epic umbral era story. Speaking of, I wonder if we will still be able to view those cutscenes in 2.0 given the content itself will be gone.
i will not miss anything from the current game, maybe only some CSs .
I will miss XIV but i also welcome the change to XI 2.0

"Hey frank, remember that time we were forced to crawl through what we thought was mud face first with our hands tied behind our backs? Yea me too.. lets never talk about that again"
I refused to be nostalgic about the bad old days of this game. Yea they were a thing we old guard suffered. Its something we can yell at the new players about when they complain that there shiny new future phones don't come in the color they like.
But i refuse to look back lovingly at that time.
when i first heard about 2.0 and realized what it meant, i was sentimental for like... a day. then I was like OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW lol. i'm sure we'll be just as attached to the new world as we are to the old.
I also hope we'll still be able to view old cutscenes... If not, there's always Youtube, sure, but...ti won't be MY character. :C
I wont miss current version ! :)
Well, the Umbral Era quests are those telling the story of Dalamud - and those are confirmed to be removed in 2.0 (since the story in version 2.0 takes place after the events of Dalamud). The whole draw to the game currently is to experience these events as they unfold, as they will be over with and gone in 2.0.
As for the main story arc, that is unclear however they say there is an all new story line planned for the new version of the game so the new story could either be an addition to the current story or replace it entirely (in terms of being able to experience it).
It is said that the version will offer a whole new opening cutscene
Hehe I do feel u guys. You get that one day feeling, then your like out with our old rusty armors and bring our shiney new blings blings! Just posted for something to talk about hehe. :P
I still miss the themes behind the original THM spells - thats it. The combat system improvements more than make up for and am interested in seeing where this goes.
Yoshi seems to get it. He seems to understand his team and their strengths/weakeness very well. He understands that they aren't normally "PC" developers - that really says a lot. I'm very glad he's steering the ship.
Not.at.all.
Even though I'm disappointed they decided to keep jump purposeless, I'm 100% for 2.0. No nostalgia whatsoever.
They only nostalgia I might have will be when I re-customize my Lalafell. Since she won't be exactly the same, I might remember fondly about her past appearance. However, considering the huge awesomeness of the cataclysm above our heads, one does not go through it unchanged. All for the better! :D
um... 2.0 *IS* "the old version of the game minus the problems with it."Quote:

I won't miss it at all lol. Just don't take away my companion please..I would miss my little lalafel ; ;
I will miss the auto crafting.
Did i just say that? oops
Miss Eorzea? No way, I'm here for new Eorzea!
I'll only miss it if 2.0 is worse than it.
Np i'm sure it gonna be Q.Q thread how ppl miss the old game XD lol.
im pretty sure i will miss some little aspects of it, like familiar places i go to often or had nice adventures at with my friends ^~^
but that wont diminish my enjoyment of 2.0 in the slightest
No.
Not even a little.
The only think I'll miss is the Umbral Era story. Everything else I like about the game seems like it will remain intact or be improved upon.
Lol who say cutscene will get deleted? O_O 7th umbral era cutscene wont be able to obtain when 2.0 start, but will remain in our journal :)
Thanalan music (if it gets changed) and the first few quests in Gridania. The beauty of the Thanalan music is hard to match, and the first few Gridania quests were just awesome.
Nobody said they are being deleted. One cannot help but wonder though, how some of the cutscenes will remain when the areas they take place in will no longer be in game. Take the primals for example, they will be open world and not instanced, so how would we be able to keep the cutscene for an area that no longer exists?
They could very well remain in game but modified, but I doubt they will remain the same.
I don't see how that could be possible though, since when a cutscene loads, it calls upon assets from that zone. So are you saying they will keep all of the old assets, models etc from the old game on top of the new game specifically for replaying cutscenes?
The cutscenes in FFXIV are not pre-recorded movies, they are rendered on the fly, that is why you use your current armor in a cutscene and the image quality is the same as when you are normally playing. If your in game textures are low, the textures will be low quality in the cutscene as well.
Though the Dev Team has done a masterful job of fixing all the problems the current version had at start the fact that this is a patchwork repair to make the game playable now means that I would not miss it when comparing it to the promise of Ver 2.0. I am more convinced of this after reading the 2 interviews of Yoshida that I have seen. A lot of new hints that make want the new version even more
I was about to post that I'd wanted to see how the original version would work out if they didn't rush the release, then thought about the whole leve-centered stuff and..... decided I didn't really want to see it after all.
Hopefully 2.0 won't disappoint.
As for old cutscenes, they won't be re-doing the models for 2.0 imho, that'd be too much work and the current ones are good. And the areas shown in the cutscenes are not that large, so they could theoretically just cut those parts out and take them over to 2.0 client and it wouldn't take up much space.
So if they wanted, they could do it without much effort, but I still doubt they will exist after 2.0. Even if the main story script stays the same, the new engine will make it look way differently.
I agree and the fall of Dalamud is what set loose the primals to wander free again. Doesn't make the place not exist, it's just now a ruin, the lands memory is long ...
They can keep just the resources required for those CSs they wouldn't have to maintain the entire old world.
I think I will miss the whole game. It depends on what 2.0 is going to be like. Maybe I am the only one, but I really enjoyed the game from its first day on and of course every patch too.
I still have some nostalgic moments from my first days doing leves and see everyone beginning. I will miss the LL opening scene :D
Thanalan music, Coerthas battle music...
ah, I found I have few things that I miss.
let's go to the FF14 2.0 as soon as possible!
I'll miss Dalamud, and the hints of destruction.
