Noir Hat (and others)

I don't know why I bothered thinking that this hat would be any different; but the team has forgotten that Miqo'te are a thing again.
The last, and I think only hat, of this expansion that's taken Miqo'te ears into account is the Artifact Armour equipment; Everything else cuts off my ears.

This may not seem like a big thing, but this is one thing in a (seemingly) ever expanding list of little things that added to the game, and that the dev team just isn't doing anymore.

I'm sure there's reasons, but its not up to me to make excuses for why things aren't being done. And while this isn't going to make quit by any means, how many grains of sand does it take to make a heap?

Miqo'te (and sometimes elezen and lalafell) ears have been getting cut off by headgear since at least Stormblood.

Still faring better than viera and hrothgar, at least.

I honestly prefer this to the ridiculous ear-pouches we had before.

And everything else, for that matter. Not something I miss after changing to viera. Sure I can't wear 90% of hats, but before I couldn't wear most of the chest pieces I wanted to without looking stupid.

It's not just ears, but tails are also being ignored or completely removed from items, and the trend is getting worse and worse as the community doesn't care. A plus point for the Hrothgars, as after the complaint about the removal of their ears, SE started implementing little ears on the few helmets they might have.

And does it seem strange to remove Hrothgar and Miqo'te's small ears? Now imagine the Abyssos helmets, which completely remove those of the Vieras, those huge ears that you can tell from afar are missing.

For the company, it's much easier to make everyone Hyur, they don't need exclusive models, and the community won't care (other than the Hrothgars who complained, these will get exclusive items until the dust settles and the company feels they can put Hyur items on them again).

The first thing Yoshida decided regarding gear modelling was practically ask fans if they wanted quality (but unique models would take longer to be made) or quantity (but gear would lose detail, and we end up with less headgear that respects ears, less concern with tail clipping etc). Beware. Enshroud is there to prove that now skills can also remove all racial traits from you, and your horns are definitely gone here too.


EDIT: By the way, I think one of the big reasons Hrothgars and Vieras don't have their hats is simply because the company doesn't want to make items exclusive to any race, and these two would definitely need that on some hats.

I mean.. you say they're ridiculous; but they made sense. Having ears crammed down under a metal helmet isn't a good thing, there would need to be some allowance for head-shape and ear position on helmets made. Maybe not earsocks, but something to show that "hey, this helmet/hat was made with a miqo'te in mind". Heck.. i'd take just cutting a hole in the helmets so our ears can stick out.
Edit: And there are historic examples of animals used in war to have their ears taken into account when making items for them. Actual horse armour is a thing, and always took their ears into account when crafting the headpiece and Spanish Conquistadores made equipment for their attack dogs that allowed their ears to be exposed.

Yeah.. I can't say I'm too happy about the Enshroud thing either. The job is fun, but this is just another grain of sand that will be on the scales down the line.

I don't know if I should, but I want to blame XVI for a lot of this. We had gear that took racial traits into effect until end of Heavensward, and some of Stormblood; And I think that's about the time that SQEX started shaving off XIV team members off to work on XVI. Maybe I'm wrong and I just want to grasp onto the hope that when XVI is done, the team members will return and there will be an uptick in quality.. who knows. All I know is that I'm not happy with the direction this stuff is going in and want something to change.

I just want to wear the hat so I could do a BlazBlue Hazama cosplay*cries in Viera*

That’s because you can squish the ears underneath the cap.

If people prefer not to have the ear pouches...fine. I love them and prefer having racial attributes being taken into account for artistic design so all racial silhouettes don't look the same, so at least give me a choice.

The devs should make use of the /visor option better to have a toggle.

I would prefer this and have considered swapping to au ra many times. Unfortunately my name is sunseeker accurate which means I'd have to also buy a name change because I'm weird like that.

When I pick a race for its features, I want to keep those features and not be some knock-off hyur whenever I put a hat on and a chest piece that removes my tail.

Fold one of your ears over then hold it like that for a few minutes. Feel how uncomfortable that is? That's what it would be like for a miqo'te squishing their ears under a hat.

That fat cat loungewear removes au ra tails too. the bunnytail on the back of it is also a weird 2D movement animation that looks terrible when you run. 22 damn dollars btw. 1/3rd the cost of an expansion.

I have two layers of frustration with Miqo'te hats – the increasing complete neglect of ears, and that where they are considered, the "ear socks" are ridiculously tiny and/or mispositioned most of the time. I think that's why people feel they look bad in the first place.

They have the ability to make the ears just stick straight through the hat, as seen on a number of ARR hats, so I don't see why they can't continue using that setting.

Same, i like the top, but the tail ruins it for me.

At least you can WEAR the hat. I’d kill for the option to show helms and simply ignore my ears. Why they don’t have that I don’t understand.
