After all this instanced stuff, 2.0 will have world-summons and once your company/guild/ls thing gets a summon no one else can get it until your group summons it....
Think it will cause drama like HNMs did in ffxi?
I'm assuming:
There will be a time limit on summoning it
It will have to re-spawn randomly after being summoned, otherwise a company group thing can plan when they summon it and have their other members waiting to re-get it.
It doesn't make the hardest fights super easy (otherwise everyone will just go for summons to 1-shot the end game stuff)
etc...

Protip: this means summoner won't be a pet job! or if it is, they won't be able to summon primals.

Someone has been out of the loop for quite a while.
Devs have already said there will be a time limit on how long you claim a primal after killing it so people can't just hoard them, and there will be a wait period before you can claim them again. Summoners will be getting lesser summons like Carbuncle and possibly Cait Sith and Fenrir if the 2.0 images are anything to go by since Primals are essentially gods. -

Yoshida: [Laughs] As you know there are primals – powerful demigods- in FFXIV. Summons are a staple to any Final Fantasy game, but to me, in recent games the summons have been cheapened because they are so easy to access. The current Ifrit and Garuda battles are hard, but I don’t want a world where everyone has summoned, and is walking around with, their own personal Ifrit. It cheapens how hard it was to get access to that primal. In 2.0 there will only be one of each primal per world. So one Ifrit, maybe one Shiva maybe one Ramuh, per world. These primals will be somewhere in the open world, roaming,and players will need to find them and then get together to defeat the primals. If they win and are the first to defeat it, the primal will come under their (temporary) control. For a 2-week period, the free company or linkshell who defeated the primal will have time to raise up the primals’ “gauge”. If they get it sufficiently raised, they will get to choose when and where to summon the primal for help. It could be used in any battle, and once they use it, the weather in the whole world will change so everyone in the world will know that the group used the primal. Once they summon the primal, it will of course return to the open world.
GE: Will there be a way to know the status of each primal?
Yoshida: No. Currently, we don’t want to show that. We want players to talk among themselves about the primals and their status.
GE: How does the primal gauge get raised?
Yoshida: Other than “raising its gauge” we can’t say any more right now. But what we can tell you is that it will be very community related. The capturing group is going to have to do certain things to raise the gauge.
GE: We take that that if you don’t raise the gauge within that two weeks the primal is released?
Yoshida: Exactly. Also, its not necessarily two weeks. That’s what we have now, but it could change. It will be a set period of time."

If they make it so your LS can only have one at a time, then people will fight over the one that is "best" for PvP/hardest raid. If they don't put a limit on amount you can hold, then the top LS will hoard them just to grief. If they make them too weak, no one will bother getting them. If they make them too strong, no one will PvP against them. If they make them instanced, it'll turn into WoW.

Depends on how game-changing having the primals is. If its more like a trump card you can pull out when you're about to wipe on a boss, then I don't see it causing much drama (open world, even with time limits will create drama). If there will be notable benefits alongside being able to summon the primal, then...yeah.

Honestly there would be no reason to horde if it can perform an action which acts as an instant win button why would people wait til the last minute to use it. Why wouldn't they just use it asap and send it back to the wild in an attempt to claim again.
Or perhaps your Free company is hit with summoning fatigue so you would have to wait a week before being able to claim another primal. In this sense people would also want to summon it asap cause let's say the 2 weeks pass and they don't use it, then they get hit with summoning fatigue and can't claim a primal for a week. Why would a Free company that took the time and effort to claim a primal hold it just to waste the time they spent in claiming it.
It would just be dumb lol. Any logical group would defeat the Primal, build up the summoning energy asap and attempt to make use of it as soon as possible so that they can work on being given the chance to claim it again. -

I'm just worried this summoning system has a chance of hurting the chances of us getting the actual Summoner job. With it being the top wanted job i really hope they don't disappoint on that part. As long as we get the actual job then I'm all for this new type of system to control these for a special fight of your choice.

It's going to presumably take a reasonably active, organized and skilled group of players to conquer the primals to begin with. Chances are, if you can conquer the primal, you can conquer most of the content they'd be tremendously useful against. So it's more like a time-saver or guaranteed win in a speed run.
I imagine at some point hard mode bosses might be a step above the primals, but the reality is, you're not going to b e able to farm content if you have to rely on a 2 week cooldown (minimum) to win.
As long as no content is balanced around the presumption that someone will have a primal, it shouldn't really cause much in the way of grief. For the super elitists, people might see it as a way to trivialize content if they ever add any insanely powerful bosses a la XI's AV/PW, but if they really wanted to, they could have certain bosses that are intended to be ludicrously hard have counters for primals, much akin to how many bosses in Final Fantasy X would "desummon" Aeons, making them only an initial burst of damage, instead of allowing them to fight it out with the boss.
I'm most looking forward to busting a primal out in PvP, that would be quite hilarious, and as for anyone saying no one would play against anyone in PvP who had a primal, how would you predict that? For one, they've stated there will be no method of tracking who has the primal other than word of mouth. And for two, assuming the "battleground" style PvP is open world or queued, there's really no way you could completely avoid the chance of running into a primal.
If they're all only going to be summoned at minimum every 2 weeks, and I'm betting most people would use it for PvE (way more practical, way less fun) there's really no situation where it's going to actually cause grief in PvP. That one time some pre-made group uses it would just be a hell of a lot of fun. Heck, even if I'm on the receiving end of something like that, I'd find it entertaining. I doubt it would last long enough to completely unbalance an entire battle.
P.S. Not all drama is bad, it's as much a part of making a community strong as anything else. A little competition never hurt anyone, and in this case I think a boost like this is a healthier thing to compete over than an HNM with a unique drop. -
