Possible Reaper changes/Buffs

Endwalker being the Expansion that reaper is introduced I find it messed up reaper is now the worst melee class. Changes I like to see is a Harvest Moon(cool ability that needs to be used more) proc intergraded into the rotation and a way to extend deaths design so we dont have to stop the rotation to get the deaths design on target up again. Arcane circle I feel needs one of two possible changes either increase damage for party by 3% up to 5% or increase the 20 second duration from 20s to 30 seconds. Another possible change can be adding a crit component to void reaping and cross reaping during enshroud burst and enhanced for positionals. Just some thoughts to improve the class.

It would be great if void reaping/cross reaping gave you a stacking, additive 25% crit chance to Communio and Comminuo critical hits gave you the soulsow effect.

Soul Slice/Scythe could extend Death's Design.

Let's avoid more guaranteed crit stuff.

Remove CD on Plentiful Harvest and give a chance to accumulate Sacrifice Stacks outside Arcane Circle. More Sacrifice more Enshrouds. More Enshrouds means more damage. If Enshroud is the capstone ability give the Reaper the ability to maintain the form as long as possible through Gibbet/Gallows/Plentiful Harvest through thoughtful use of those abilities to build meter but also to snowball with Sacrifice Stacks.

4 stacks up to 8 stacks are required to use PH.

Being a niche ability in fights Communio should grant Soulsow for a Harvest Moon followup after Communio.

But I think they will just add autocrit to Enshroud phase if they do anything.

He's talking about performance. They were overperforming at launch, but everyone else got buffed/scaled better to gear so now RPR DPS wise is the lowest of the melee group.

I would avoid anything that effortlessly extends the debuff. At that point it may as well not exist.

Death's Design is part of Reapers design so getting rid of it is not an option even if it is Heavy Thrust 2.0. If they removed it they would require a massive potency increase across the kit to make up for the 10% dmg buff and require that all resource gains be doubled to compensate for being unable to acquire gauge in trash pulls which is massive in dungeons and alliance raids.

You don't really want to artificially extend Death's Design by alternative means because it plays a critical role with Double Enshroud. You need roughly two filler GCDs between Enshroud and Arcane Circle to ensure that you shave 5 seconds off Enshroud's 15 second recast. In your typical 2 minute cycle, this means that you typically refresh once after Circle, once at around 60s (roughly when your mid-cycle Enshroud comes up if there's no forced downtime), and then wait to tick down to near zero. If this is done correctly, you'll see Circle and DD line up relatively neatly, allowing you your two uses (as long as you're under 9 seconds on DD). If you have other actions refreshing DD as well, you're probably going to take a potency loss here by refreshing too often.

HM is your get out of jail card. It's a potency gain in AoE, but at 600 potency it doesn't offer a tremendous amount over your baseline GCD, especially after the recent buff. It mostly exists to solve fight-specific problems, like forced downtime. The other thing you can do with it is use it in place of a dummy DD in a pinch, in the event that the buff timers aren't aligned correctly.

In short, I wouldn't alter any of that. The core issue around RPR's potency is that it needs to be more concentrated in its burst, rather than the average GCD. Outside of that the only thing that I'd recommend is some alternative to the ranged finisher, especially given how often the two-minute burst aligns with movement mechanics, but that's just a next expansion thought.

Just make Communio instant and the movement issue goes away. Probably would be better that way with Enshrouds GOTTA GO FAST playstyle.

I think HM in most cases is a dead skill. Reserved for trash pulls, prepull on bosses, and downtime. Manual charge and then using the skill is 3 GCDs over SoD doing 600 potency over 2 GCDs. It's clear that HM isn't used a whole lot.

I'd prefer if Harvest Moon was just a oGCD with a 30 or 60 second CD and just press on CD. 20 seconds even.

HM > Gluttony and Communio > HM is very fun for me.

I imagine next xpac is just Reaper doing 2 Communio's. Which is gonna be boring but I think that will happen.

Good god absolutely no auto crit/dh.

1. Extend arcane circle's radius significantly, at times mechanics force you to spread at 2min burst and you cannot hit your whole party with the buff. Other times there is that one ranged standing in narnia for no reason.

2. Extend arcane circle's buff time by 10 seconds. Let us fit both enshroud into the buff more comfortably.

3. Consider changing arcane circle to remove the need for party members with the buff to use a gcd. Instead have us instantly get 1 stack for every party member the buff is applied to and change it so we can plentiful harvest after only 1 second as we no longer need to give people time to use a skill. This should stop us having clipping issues because we used the arcane circle .10 seconds slower than usual.

4. Change enshroud recast to 10 seconds, at present we are forced to use filler DD in 2min burst because you cannot go straight back into your enshroud. It makes it feel wonky and breaks that flow you would otherwise have.

5. A second charge added to gluttony, to keep gluttony in your burst you need it on cd permanently. Meaning you drift into oblivion if for some reason you are unable to hit the boss right at that precise second.

6. Buff the enshroud burst, this job is meant to be 'selfish' but it's damage atm is middling.

7. Harpe and Harvest Moon should BOTH give 10 soul gauge each. At times you must move away from the boss for a mechanic and while you can use Harvest Moon or Harpe you lose the gauge and as such you lose an enshroud if you are unlucky enough to have to move away often.

8. Add an effect that charging soul sow in combat gives us some soul gauge, at least 20. Atm in prolonged downtime being unable to get any gauge REALLY sucks.


That about covers the changes I would like. I don't mind Harvest Moon being a niche skill. I quite enjoy trying to squeeze in getting that extra charge in p5s when he is jumping for ex.

I think that the Arcane Circle range point does make a lot of sense, although you would need to increase Battle Litany from 15y as well. What ends up happening during spreads during two minute windows (like if you get I during Inviolate Bonds) is you end up deliberately offsetting by an extra GCD and enter Enshroud at the 2-3 second recast mark instead of 5 seconds that you would normally. But it is annoying to miss a buff on someone simply because they decided to do something unpredictable.

I wouldn't increase Arcane Circle's duration by 10 seconds, because that would make Triple Enshroud the norm on every two minute window rather than a special case scenario under tincture.

I don't think that the timing around Plentiful Harvest is ever really an issue because the only time you're not doing double Enshroud is on your opener. So you're never really waiting for it to show up, because you're in Enshroud when it becomes available.

I have mixed feelings about reducing the recast on Enshroud. It would be a comfy change, but having to work around the recast makes DD so much more interesting compared to other jobs' maintenance buffs. It doesn't really break the flow, because Circle really marks the start of your burst. I expect that they will go after this in the expansion, but I really rather that they wouldn't.

A second charge on Gluttony would solve the drift issue. I'd be conservative with anything that increases resource gains, though, as the job is really quite cleverly designed with regards to timings. I think this gets more into expansion level stuff, especially when you consider the issue of how to build an opener that's on par with your subsequent two minute windows. Either way, interesting food for thought.

I wouldn't say no to drg buff range also increasing, makes sense to me.

To stop triple enshroud becoming norm then don't increase the arcane circle buff time but do make the recast for enshroud 10seconds still. For me personally the enshroud has a fast rhythm and when I need to use the filler it's a bit jarring to me and breaks that nice rhythm.

Plentiful harvest is mostly an annoyance on the opener for me when I do early enshroud opener.

As for gluttony charge that would only be an extra 20 shroud gauge, if you add in my changes to harp+ harvest moon that's more soul gauge where you would have otherwise lost it. I don't think it is too much.

I really like the reaper as it is jus smaller tweaks are all it needs I feel.
